Idle Minds = football manager mode

We're in the season of silly. That famous period that distracts football fans in the months of June or July.

While the Copa America, World Cup (f), U21s, Euro Cup qualifiers and various league championships outside Europe are occuring, they just don't seem to satisfy our addiction to 'The English Premier League', the most consumed drug outside of Alcohol, to pacify us in the face of ruthless capitalist exploitation.

For his reason we jump on every transfer rumour with vigour, and attempt to imagine just how Everton could be transformed into a team that, well, wins.

In my opinion to do this we must adopt the strategy of sell to buy.

With the rumours of James McCarthy's unrest, and the already cited issue of too many defensive centre mids, then his possible sale to an Arsenal/Spurs type team for 18-20 million could indeed open up a chance to make a bid for a top quality attacking centre mid/ box-to-box no.10 to challenge and compete with Barkley, while leaving change to buy a decent centre back or striker to push Lukaku.

For me, a player who has immense ability, and potential to improve, who is proven in the PL and has a mentality that I think our fans would like is a certain Jonjo Shelvey.

A bit of a misfit while with Liverpool, at Swansea he's proven himself a top player. Good passing, aggressive (sometimes too much) as well as having a good shot on him.

While Swansea finished above us, I still believe Everton would be seen as a step up. A midfield 3 out of Besic, Barkley, Cleverly, Shelvey, Barry and Osman (with Ledson slowly introduced) could welloffer variety and Balance.

Then a front 3 with Del Boy, Lukaku, Mirallas(?), Lennon (?) and other.

Whether this is any way plausable is another matter.
