Overmars touted again for director of football role

Overmars has been in a similar role at Ajax since 2012, during which time he has had to work within the Dutch club's financial constraints and reliance on its youth system. Ajax have won the Eredivisie title twice under Overmars and outgoing manager Frank de Boer who has expressed his interest in succeeding Roberto Martinez as manager at Everton.

Reports that Farhad Moshiri is looking to bring Overmars on board in a director of football capacity first surfaced at MailOnline last week but The Mirror and De Telegraaf in the Netherlands are also making the same claim.

Overmars, who spent three years with Arsenal before joining Barcelona, apparently declined to comment on the speculation when contacted by the Dutch paper.
