Everton U18s 1 - 1 Southampton U18s

Everton U18s went out of the Premier League Cup when they could only draw their third and final group game against leaders Southampton at Finch Farm this morning.

The Young Blues were 2nd in Group B after beating Derby County in September but losing to Chelsea in October. Only the winners of the seven groups, plus the best runner-up go through to the knockout stage.

The first half was goalless while the visitors went ahead after the break. Everton quickly got back on terms when Ebere equalized but that's how it stayed.

Leighton Baines's charges needed to win by at least 2 or 3 goals in order to go through as group winners. Chelsea beat Derby County in the other group game, which also takes place today, so Everton finish 3rd in Group B.

I wonder what happened to the mysterious Daniel Gibson who appeared in goal last week but not in the squad today. George Pickford, U16 goalkeeper, has the bench spot... stand by for “witty” comments in the coming years.
