Delial Brewster on Everton, injuries and mentality

This interview is 3 years old, and Delial Brewster is still only 24. A prodigious young talent who faded away through injuries and lack of focus. 

Delial Brewster was a star striker for Everton U18s when they won the U18 Premier League in 2014, and he helped them win the Dallas Cup.

His story illustrates a lot of the themes we have been discussing recently about bringing players through the academy.

Apologies if this old story is something you've seen before. I think we missed it when it was published back in 2019.

It's a sad but all-too-familiar one of a bright young Everton prodigy who did not make it, for many of the usual reasons.

Delial Brewster. One of our erstwhile young up-and-comers. Remember him and forgot all about him.

Interesting article. Just a reminder that "ruthless" doesn't start at the top team. It exists at all levels; especially youth where the initial and subsequent "Wheat from the chaff" winnowing begins.

Here's that 2013-14 team celebrating at the end of the big game. That's Delial, #14? Think I recognize even babier-faced Tom Davies there. Recognize any faces?
