The Athletic is reporting that Everton have reached an agreement 'in principle' to sign Christian Norgaard from Arsenal for a fee in the region of £7M.
When David Ornstein and The Athletic drop an "agreement in principle" update, the usual transfer window scepticism has to be tempered with a dose of cold reality. Everton have reportedly struck a to bring 32-year-old Danish international to Merseyside.
If the routine medical tests go smoothly next week, Nørgaard should become the second new signing of a flat transfer window and the latest addition to David Moyes’s central midfield options ahead of the new campaign.
How We Got Here
Nørgaard's trajectory over the past 12 months tells a familiar story:
-
The Brentford Peak: Nørgaard was Brentford’s club captain, a reliable, defensive anchor who made nearly 200 appearances in West London.
-
The Emirates Wilderness: Arsenal paid £10M to take him to North London in summer 2025 as a squad rotater. He went on to make just 20 appearances across all competitions (only 11 starts), registering just over 1,000 total minutes as Mikel Arteta rarely trusted him in high-stakes fixtures.
-
The Everton Void: Following Idrissa Gana Gueye’s departure on a free transfer, Everton’s central engine room was left severely stripped of senior, defensive discipline.
The Analytical Breakdown
While £7M in today's inflated market sounds like a modest fee for a proven Premier League anchor, the move comes with distinct pros and cons:
| Metric / Aspect | Profile & Reality |
| Profile | Defensive Midfielder / Holding Anchor (Age 32) |
| Key Strengths | Aerial duels, positional discipline, interception reading, senior leadership. |
| Main Drawbacks | Lack of mobility in transition; zero future resale value. |
| Squad Role | Straight swap for Idrissa Gana Gueye's defensive minutes. |
1. The Financial Logic
At £7M, Nick Cox and the elite recruitment team are opting for a low-risk, short-term fix. With tight financial guardrails still limiting the transfer budget, Everton simply cannot fork out £35M+ on a prime 24-year-old holding midfielder. Nørgaard represents a functional, plug-and-play solution who won't require a 6-month adaptation period to the Premier League.
2. The Tactical Fit
In Moyes's setup, Nørgaard will be asked to sit deep in front of the back four, break up play, and recycle possession quickly to the wide areas. His distribution at Brentford was tidy, if unspectacular. However, his lack of pace means Everton's surrounding midfielders (primarily James Garner or Tim Iroegbunam) will need to provide the dynamic legwork around him to prevent the team from being overrun on the counter-attack.
3. The Arsenal Pipeline Pattern
Everton fans could be forgiven for feeling a slight sense of déjà vu. The path from the Emirates to Merseyside (Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi) has often yielded mixed results. Buying a player who logged barely 1,000 minutes last season means his match fitness and sharpness will need careful management during the remainder of pre-season.
The Verdict
Nørgaard isn't a signing that will send shirt sales soaring or dominate social media highlight reels. It is a pragmatic, eminently 'sensible' move in the mind of Moyes, designed to prevent a glaring structural weakness in central midfield before the Premier League season kicks off.
If he brings the standard of positional leadership he displayed during his years at Brentford, £7M will look like very shrewd business. But make no mistake: this is a functional stopgap, not a long-term strategy for a squad still lacking youthful dynamism in the middle of the park — although Merlin Rohl was doing his best to rectify that back in his homeland this afternoon.

Excellent. 32 but a quality player at a pocket-change price, which means sell-on value is not a concern.
5 Posted 01/08/2026 at 17:01:58
Allows Iroegbunam to be sold or Armstrong to go on loan if he isn't quite ready.
We all want better, it hints that money is tight,

Clearly our 30+ age group quota needs improving since Gana's move. FFS!!

No he didn't IB. Clearly Cox and Co are making full use of all that information and stats.

Also seems to me to be another indicator that Hackney was purchased as a #10, not a deep-lying midfielder. But that's just my guess.

Good for couple of seasons, especially with youngsters around him.
RB, Forward, Wide man…please.

If we were desperate for a defensive midifelder we'd have kept Gana, why not leave it until January if the club still fancy him & sign him for free?
Well, at least Moyes can say he buys players from the likes of Chelsea & Arsenal. He'll waste a shit ton on Grealish next and add Man City to the list.
Anyone got any ideas on a Man Utd cast off or sicknote & an RS kid he could bring in so he can have the set?
29 Posted 01/08/2026 at 18:13:16
The Alistair Johnston rumour grates me and I'm hoping this helps us afford to get a Doue like signing. Norgaard is needed for his defensive nous, his leadership and his physical attributes. We don't have an outright six in the squad. I don't care how many minutes he played for Arsenal as him being there will have added to him as a player. Dewsbury Hall only played primarily in the conference league.
Some players will now be moved on and their fees will hopefully be put to good use in weak areas of the squad.
Best to judge at the close of the window to see if a smart piece of the jigsaw or just another cheap option for the owners.

Looks like they've just flipped throught the Panini sticker book.
31 Posted 01/08/2026 at 18:21:10
Can he play right back.
If this isn't a sign of us shopping in the oops isle again nothing is.

35 Posted 01/08/2026 at 18:44:17
I'm starting to think that maybe Johnston is being signed cos Moyes has decided that, whatever happens, Rohl will be in the team this season. If he can't make midfield, then they can fight it out for fullback without us breaking the bank.

A striker who's had 3 loan spells with a grand total of 3 goals
61 Posted 01/08/2026 at 20:51:33
We need depth too… we know Moyes loves a big team, and he's 6'-1”. Someone else to bring on to defend set pieces and hang on to 1-0 leads, I suspect.
62 Posted 01/08/2026 at 20:54:07
He made Martin Sherif look prolific at Port Vale.
64 Posted 01/08/2026 at 21:01:02
How does this player improve our starting XI?
65 Posted 01/08/2026 at 21:05:41
What is wrong with Garner. btw? Is he injured? If so how?
68 Posted 01/08/2026 at 21:29:33
Garner is injured just in time for the new season, so this transfer will help out a lot. The lad is a Danish international and Arteta thought he was good enough to sign.
I know he never played much but no way he was getting in ahead of Rice etc.
69 Posted 01/08/2026 at 21:37:03
Arteta played him most in the Champions League and in the domestic cups.
Age 32 DOB 10/03/94. Right footed.
Career stats.
DM 245 games, CM 79, AM 25, other 17 inc 10 has CB. Career goals 31, assts 31. Denmark Caps 41 / 2 goals. Winners medals 2, EPL Champion and Danish Cup winner.
71 Posted 01/08/2026 at 22:16:20
He's so inconsistent, even in a 15-minute passage of play, there's a decent player in there somewhere, but I'm not sure if anyone will ever see him.
I agree if we can sell him to Hull for £20M and bring in Norgaard for £7M, then that's decent business, but if we don't, and Norgaard is the free to sign Gana's replacement, then that is poor business.

73 Posted 01/08/2026 at 22:32:35
74 Posted 01/08/2026 at 23:42:12
Let's hope this has a similar outcome.
75 Posted 01/08/2026 at 23:52:48
Bizarre.
76 Posted 01/08/2026 at 23:57:18
Norgaard has played right-back once, on 20 November 2011. He has played centre-back 10 times, the last being for Brentford, in the Championship on 8 May 2021.
So the answer to whether he can play righ-back is... probably not.
Andy @74, well said.
77 Posted 01/08/2026 at 00:05:32
Bournemouth currently have 5 right backs under consideration, yet we are only linked with one, bang average, right-back. Are our options really so limited?
Our so-called elite recruitment team are certainly keeping their powder dry at the moment.
78 Posted 01/08/2026 at 00:21:08
You don't have be a superstar in the Number 6 role, just a sitter who can protect the back four and add a bit of stability.
Posters keep on about the right-back... yes, we know -- but if other options for other positions become available, then you have to step in.
79 Posted 01/08/2026 at 00:25:03
80 Posted 01/08/2026 at 00:41:32
Sadly we forget that George and Rohl cost us money in this window, plus we have Hackney. Granted these are £20M or so players but I fear that is us being flush and we've spent it all.
Hence now scuffing around at the sub £10M mark with another Scottish (Premiership playing) right-back and now this, presumably to allow Rohl to cover at wide right and even right-back.
It really isn't great. Maybe just enough to beat relegation but most of the sides below us are beefing up their squads and are not likely to finish below us.
I'm getting cynical but I can see us selling Ndiaye but most of the cash going back to TFG and maybe a bit spare for a loan for a replacement.
I can see us sticking with the two Bs upfront.
81 Posted 02/08/2026 at 01:51:37
Garner has apparently just had an operation, groin or hernia (?), so will need recovery time.
82 Posted 02/08/2026 at 02:23:44
I think he will play a lot of football for us this season; he had a rest season at Arsenal last time round so will be fresh and raring to go.
We need Ndiaye sold ASAP, if he is to go, so we can spend as it's becoming clear we don't have any other money to spare.
Still think Beto will go as he's only got a year left, Patterson too should go... Maybe Delap or Zirkzee, something like that to come in, hopefully Grealish too (maybe as a loan deal along with someone else who fits straight into the first XI) and the rest of the Ndiaye money spent on a right-back and ideally a centre-back upgrade.
83 Posted 02/08/2026 at 02:40:15
No, he goes to Arsenal -- on a free -- and we pay £7M for his services a year later.
Good business for Arsenal should he not figure in their plans, obviously not, but another blunder by us not getting him earlier.
Having said that, I think he will prove to be a good signing for us!
84 Posted 02/08/2026 at 02:47:02
85 Posted 02/08/2026 at 02:49:59
There is no excuse for going so long without a recognized right-back. Whichever way you try to spin it.
86 Posted 02/08/2026 at 03:39:22
Brentford have confirmed the signing of Mali midfielder Mamadou Sangare from Lens for a club record fee. The 24-year-old joins on a five-year contract, with an option for a further year. No fee was reported by the club, but they say it surpasses the £42.5M paid to sign Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth last summer.
Quattara is also miles better than anything we have. Miles.
87 Posted 02/08/2026 at 08:02:47
If you offered Moyes the opportunity to sign the unproven and developing Kroupi and Rayan that Bournemouth signed -- he would want Soucek instead.
If the recruitment board signed these players anyway -- he wouldn't pick them -- he'd play Dwight McNeil instead. It's like the Adam Aznou situation.
Norgaard fits the bill for Moyes and he can cite in the future how the club doesn't have the spending power to allow him to do any better and that's why we should be grateful for what he can deliver.
88 Posted 02/08/2026 at 08:10:57
Moyes should have gone in May. That's what forward looking owners would have done. This was a year when there was a rare crop of exciting managers on the market. TFG have set us back yet another year.
Keeping Moyes after the erm 'stabilisation' period - i.e. keeping us at 13th - was a massive mistake that has harmed our club and stymied this window's business.
89 Posted 02/08/2026 at 08:13:04
At least that's what our elite manager will say, as he builds for yet another underwhelming season.
90 Posted 02/08/2026 at 08:28:58
People use atrocious leadership of the last 10 years and how bad of a situation we were in as a measure of where we should be. Wrong.
Big clubs go out and get the best managers. Glasner was available this summer -- the board should've sacked Moyes and made a move to bring in Glasner. He's won 2 trophies in 12 months and we have won none in 31 years.
Howe is available now. And has won a trophy and achieved Champions League football.

91 Posted 02/08/2026 at 08:57:15
This was a really daft one, in my humble opinion. And hard to anticipate, never mind prevent.
One of our stalwart posters made a simple comparison / observation, not even really a joke, which the thought police jumped all over and really got their nickers all bunched up, even playing the racist card which I absolutely abhor.
I didn't see it until a bit later, so the vigilantes kinda went overboard, as is their usual inclination, unfortunately.
92 Posted 02/08/2026 at 09:25:15
There seems to be a salient fact that you are missing in your diatribe.
I don't think Norgaard was a free transfer last year. Arsenal paid Brentford an initial fee of £10M (with potential performance-related add-ons) to bring the Danish midfielder to the Emirates in the summer of 2025.
93 Posted 02/08/2026 at 09:47:55
Away from both the relegation and European places.
94 Posted 02/08/2026 at 09:48:28
He did sign him. Then he did not trust him to do any kind of job whatsoever for his team. Norgaard played a total of 101 Premier League minutes for Arsenal last season. Half of those were in the final game of the season in a completely meaningless fixture.
Let's not hide from the facts. This is an utter disgrace. Put it in this contact also -- when he signed for Arsenal last season -- did anybody think ‘I wish we could've signed him'? I very much highly doubt it.
95 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:09:06
96 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:16:59
The only position we had sorted was central midfield. We had Garner, Dewsbury-Hall, Iroegbunam, Röhl and Armstrong competing for two positions with no European football. Our response? Sign two more central midfielders.
This signing just sends out all the wrong messages. Another season of young talent being squandered or played out of position while ageing, past-it players clog up the team playing dour, miserable football.
Can no-one at the club see how miserable they are making the fan base? Sign a right-back (two actually, given the bizarre Patterson aversion) and sign some forwards who score and create goals.
97 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:31:43
But it appears to be more of the same for another lucky mid-table position next season, which is somewhat disillusioning for the fans.
98 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:33:17
I think this signing makes a lot of sense and gives a platform for us to play different attacking options ahead of him.
Let's assess with our eyes after we've seen him and the team play a few Premier League matches before we crucify him.
99 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:34:38
His link to Arteta and Celtic isn't exactly casting the net far and wide.
How many people have we recruited from his old boys network? His son is the European scout yet we can't look beyond the UK. His brother is an agent who brought us set piece expert Charlie Adam. The whole thing has a whiff to it but the owners appear to be happy.
I know Moyes is cutting his cloth accordingly as we obviously have no real money to compete but there must be young hungry players nearing the ends of contracts across Europe we can take a chance on.
Can you tell I am not enthusiastic about the new season. I am trying to get out of the auto cup scheme as I already know Moyes will throw the towels in.
100 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:40:04
Whether the family members will return the favour by finding us players is a different story...
What different attacking options does Norgaard give us, Andrew?
101 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:42:21
It's the owner/s responsibility to prioritise the club and not the Moyes family personal wealth.
102 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:51:40
Our team is crying out for goals from all areas but we are stockpiling defensive centre-midfielders.
It's very unlikely he will turn into prime Tim Cahill.
Isn't judging players part of being a football fan?
103 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:52:55
It doesn't matter who we sign, someone on here will have a moan. Let's see how the season pans out before you start moaning.
104 Posted 02/08/2026 at 10:53:31
Most of us are aware enough to know that signing Christian Norgaard is not a step in this direction.
@96 Mike. You are spot on. He is choosing to strengthen an area of the pitch where we are already capable. Harrison Armstrong can wave goodbye to any hopes of a game and Hackney will have to do that period of bedding in that Moyes insists on before he trusts the player. Such as playing Lescott left back for a year and a half, waiting 4 years to play Seamus Coleman right back, playing Arteta on the wing for 3 years etc etc
It is plainly negligent to strengthen an area of the pitch where we have players ready to another areas where we don't.
Norgaard is a signing that stops the opposition playing -- not gets us playing. We have virtually no attacking threat -- we have absolutely zero pace in the forward positions
105 Posted 02/08/2026 at 11:06:45
We have bolstered the squad with a 7th player who can play holding midfielder position.
The obvious bolstering we need hasn't happened yet.
106 Posted 02/08/2026 at 11:48:03
Wrong side of 30, 6ft and defensive.
107 Posted 02/08/2026 at 11:58:17
Anyone expecting anything different from last season's shite football is in for an awakening.
108 Posted 02/08/2026 at 12:07:27
"We have bolstered the squad with a 7th player who can play holding midfielder position"
Who are the seven, John?
109 Posted 02/08/2026 at 12:19:29
We have been linked with him for the last couple of transfer windows... seems like a huge mistake not signing him. Then again, only 22 and a Spanish international... so doubtful Moyes would play him anyway.
110 Posted 02/08/2026 at 12:20:33
111 Posted 02/08/2026 at 12:22:41
He's a tidy player.
112 Posted 02/08/2026 at 12:24:03
Yes, we all know we need a right-back and a striker, let's see what happens before the season starts. If we don't sign a right-back, then we can all moan, but before that, let's just wait and see...
113 Posted 02/08/2026 at 12:28:54
No doubt the lad from Celtic will do us. I just wonder who his agent is? Or what his link to our Scottish contingent is?
114 Posted 02/08/2026 at 12:30:46
“He probably prepares the best of all of them. Somebody that makes all of us better every single day. Play in any position, any condition, more or less minutes, but his attitude is always immaculate”.
“Great example for all of us”.
I think I will go with what a Premier League-winning manager says over the perpetual moaners on ToffeeWeb.
115 Posted 02/08/2026 at 12:34:37
116 Posted 02/08/2026 at 12:35:19
That's the type of player we need. Committed
117 Posted 02/08/2026 at 13:02:06
We had nobody in the squad who plays Gana's role, and now we do, with an immaculate pedigree, for buttons.
When we sign the Scottish right-back and he turns out to be rubbish, then's the time to start moaning...
But let's not start calling him the new Gareth Barry. This chap sounds good, but he won't be near what Barry was.
118 Posted 02/08/2026 at 13:02:45
I should just accept that most on here would complain if Lamine Yamal signed for us.
119 Posted 02/08/2026 at 13:52:02
@108.
Garner.
Hackney
Iroegbunam
Rohl
Armstrong
Dewsbury-Hall
+ 1
120 Posted 02/08/2026 at 14:06:40
There isn't one in the band of midfielders we currently possess. For me, Alcaraz will be sold then either Iroegbunam will follow or Armstrong will go out on loan.
Norgaard will also ensure we only need to sign one quality right-back as Rohl and Garner can be tasked with providing cover.
I am hopeful on this one as we have so many young midfielders that, for once, I think we do need experience, leadership, organisation and another quality player around them.
I don't think this was just a Moyes decision as this was a profile we were lacking, and learning under Arteta can only benefit us.
Looking forward to seeing him in blue.
121 Posted 02/08/2026 at 15:34:47
As it stands -- Iroegbunam and Alcaraz are Everton players.
Why sign Hackney? Where is he going to play?
122 Posted 02/08/2026 at 16:28:44
If he picks up anywhere near his last full season at Brentford, he will be one of the first names on the team sheet. Similar age to when Barry signed and could well have a similar impact.
123 Posted 02/08/2026 at 16:39:04
Was the problem of omitted posts the reactions to the questionable post, or the questionable post itself?
124 Posted 02/08/2026 at 16:44:02
Sorry but he couldn't lace Gareth Barry's boots.
He didn't play a single game for Arsenal last season. Not one complete game. And prior to that he was a regular for an average Brentford Premier League team for about 3 years.
Barry was a key player in a top side and had played hundreds of Premier League games and won dozens of England caps.
125 Posted 02/08/2026 at 16:54:00
The numbers Norgaard put up in his last season for Brentford compared well with any defensive midfielder in the country and was certainly a step up on what Gueye managed last season.
Maybe not quite Barry's level but your hyperbole is misplaced.
126 Posted 02/08/2026 at 17:22:42
Adding height to a midfield that offers little from set pieces, plus the above for £7M is smart business. Whether we like it or not, nearly 30% of goals are coming from set pieces in the Premier League.
If this allows Armstrong to flourish on loan or Iroegbunam to be sold for a good profit, then we will get more than just a good Number 6.
This is the market of player we are in for.
127 Posted 02/08/2026 at 17:23:04
It's a squad game and Hackney will challenge for a start with the others.
As for Iroegbunam, Armstrong and Alcaraz, we aren't going to start the season with all of them, it's not rocket science.
128 Posted 02/08/2026 at 18:03:06
Lamal is a great talent, but can he do the the defensive stuff like Dwight?
Same with this Mbappe fella, doesn't track back. Useless the pair of them!!!
129 Posted 02/08/2026 at 19:26:19
If you can get an idea of our SCR position, as Paul Quinn has kind of estimated, there's no big money available, unless we have a big sale.
These are the figures he's estimated:
85% of football revenue plus net player trading allowed.
If their 2026-27 revenue lands at c.£260M, the allowable squad cost ceiling is c£221M, With a current wage bill of £152M and player amortisation of c.£65M (total squad cost c.£217M), Everton are already in the high-80s/low-90s on SCR.
So how people are looking for £40M right-backs and £60M wingers, I have no idea. The reality isn't nice, but I'm not expecting any big money moves, even if Ndiaye went for £60-70-80M the holes needed to be filled in the squad, you are looking at 3 or 4 £20M players at best.
130 Posted 02/08/2026 at 19:58:41
I don't think we will sign a right-back tbh... Ben White at a push.
Moyes loves 6 foot 2 plus full backs. I'd have a good bet O'Brien starts at right-back v Palace.
131 Posted 02/08/2026 at 21:11:41
The other argument for Ndiaye staying, apart from being one of best players, is with SCR and the amortisation of the fees, his fee was not much, therefore isn't impacting SCR as much; he's on small wages too.
Not a lot of people are looking at the transfer window with realistic expectations, so they are bound to be let down. I was always wondering where the SCR limits would be for us, now I'm basically not thinking anyone big will come in.
See lots of negativity on Norgaard... probably the same people who moaned we didn't sign Xhaka. He could turn out to do a good job, I said our midfield looked lightweight, he fills that role.
132 Posted 02/08/2026 at 21:58:41
Yes, you can judge players as a football fan. My point is let's judge him when he's actually fucking played for us!!!
@Tommy 104, thanks for clarifying that you know more about football than me and others - “ Most of us are aware enough to know that signing Christian Norgaard is not a step in this direction”
My point, oh learned one, is let's see what he actually does playing for the team, shall we, before we all denounce the signing as shite. Who knows, he might make us better. Let's wait and see and watch him play in the royal blue before making a decision.
133 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:05:53
No way Man Utd will pay £70M for him.
134 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:09:08
We have £100M of centre-backs, both of a great age and with the ability to improve, both 6'-5", rapid, and can both play. It's insane that you would not start these players as centre-back.
Just like it was insane 20 years ago to not start Wayne Rooney as a central striker.
Just as it was to not play Jagieka and Lescott at centre-back together.
Just as it was to play Lescott left-back ahead of Leighton Baines for nearly 18 months.
Just as it was to play Seamus Coleman right midfield for nearly 3 years.
Just as it is to manage football teams for nearly 30 years and never have a striker score more than 16 Premier League goals.
Or to never win a game at Anfield in nearly 30 years of management.
135 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:11:49
The club won't progress, on the playing side of things, until he's gone.
136 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:13:50
Mind that lightning, it might strike you.
137 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:16:42
Just as it was to earn £100M plus managing in the Premier League for... is it 30 years yet?
138 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:18:28
Do some of you actually watch the game? Staggering lack of knowledge.
139 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:23:30
Is it gonna rain tomorrow?
140 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:24:55
141 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:37:22
It's going to rain where you are.. no doubt

It's like being savaged by a dead sheep.

"In what universe are Hackney, Röhl and Dewsbury-Hall defensive midfielders?"
In the Moysieverse of Madness?
144 Posted 02/08/2026 at 22:54:19
Bournemouth are finalising an £11.1m move for Sevilla right-back Juanlu as new manager Marco Rose's squad nears completion.
The 22-year-old will cost an initial £9.4m, with a further £1.7m in add-ons, and is expected to move to the south coast on a long-term contract. Juanlu is a tall, attacking full-back with significant experience despite his young age and has been heavily capped at Spanish youth level.
145 Posted 02/08/2026 at 23:15:31
Great to see Sam Hoare giving his opinion. I'm more pleased with this signing than I was yesterday. A true 6, like a true 2, has been an issue for a while now.
However, 2 strikers and 2 full-backs are higher priorities in my opinion than our new Dane.
We simply cannot - CANNOT (sorry MK) - start next season with either Beto or Barry. Worryingly, the oldest manager in the PL by 9 years seems to be moving towards RB Jake and striker Barry.
146 Posted 03/08/2026 at 07:25:55
Further proof (If it were needed) that the once famously knowledgeable Evertonian is slowly but surely being replaced by cliché-spouting stattos.
147 Posted 03/08/2026 at 08:15:10
Trust me, I'm involved in every Everton goal.
148 Posted 03/08/2026 at 09:22:27
You obviously haven't understood the question, "Whatstat?". And to prove the point I'll bet that's edited.
149 Posted 03/08/2026 at 20:46:11
150 Posted 03/08/2026 at 22:12:43
I was being ironic: are you?
151 Posted 03/08/2026 at 23:19:14
I am more interested in getting goals into the team. So if there is a player that is coming in, is capable of scoring or creating more than the fella he replaces, then bring it on.
Statto or not, 6 goals and 4 assists from his Brentford form would be welcomed. Gana got 5 goals or assists last season.
I am looking forward to seeing him. If the back two are O'Brien and Branthwaite, then he is exactly the experienced player to play in front of them to sense the danger. He may also allow the full-backs to bomb on, with him prepared to sit back.
Good teams are about balance. Somebody prepared to do the dirty work, put in a challenge, stop the game and take a yellow. He stiffens up a midfield that looks a bit soft without Gana. If he allows us to sell Iroegbunam and add £13M net to the kitty, then that is decent business.
152 Posted 04/08/2026 at 17:10:06
Really Hahaha' You forgot Pickford and Barry.
He will be the only real No 6 on our books lad.
153 Posted 04/08/2026 at 17:22:40
Pickford and Barry excepted
154 Posted 04/08/2026 at 18:00:19
"IF our back two are O'Brien and Branthwaite"
IF' we sign a couple of fullbacks "he will allow them to bomb on"
"IF he allows us to sell Iroegbunam for 13m net to the kitty"
It never ceases to amaze me How much shite a statto can spout when trying to justify a player the havent seen or mentioned before, based solely on somebody else's Err....."numbers"
So glad you went full on with the cliche's. I havent heard the arl classics like "Good teams are about balance" or "Somebody to do the dirty work" all day today..
Cut the hypothetical crap. Stop trying to pretend you know about players by spouting other peoples "numbers". Until Norgaard puts on a blue shirt and starts doing the business. The only thing he "stiffens" is you
155 Posted 04/08/2026 at 18:22:01
Decent touch, gets his head up, loves a tackle. As mentioned above, he looks like he can play the sitting role when centre-backs split.
As also mentioned earlier, a change in formation to allow one No 6 would benefit the team going forward. He could well be the one.
156 Posted 04/08/2026 at 18:34:29
Get up earlier, Jethrine.
158 Posted 04/08/2026 at 20:15:37
Brentford have been in the Premier League for an age, destroyed a Man Utd side, and always played a fair game against us -- more than the sum of their parts.
If you could see past the chip on your shoulder, you might notice other players.
Cheers.
159 Posted 04/08/2026 at 20:44:49
Of course you have seen him. That's why you rely totally on other people's "numbers" and descriptions to portray him. Never once mentioning something you had seen, or even mentioning him at all on here before you read his stats.
Let's see how many of those "If"'s you think his arrival will generate come to fruition.
160 Posted 04/08/2026 at 20:54:44
161 Posted 04/08/2026 at 21:06:40
It's people using meaningless stats which lead to unnecessary hypotheticals, then cliches... It all becomes very fanboy magazine.
Maybe I'm hanging around the game too long, but for me, that stuff will never replace a proper footy discussion.

I was concerned for your hip, Darren.

That's 7 defensive midfielders
