Teamsheet

It's the 2nd Round of the Carabao Cup and Everton return to one of David Moyes's favourite spots: Preston.

He's already created a furore by suggesting it's some sort of a choice between being successful in the Premier League or going all out to try and actually win a cup... and made it clear where his priorities lie.

The intention may be revealed in the teamsheet Moyes selects for tonight's encounter, with the message in any changes to the winning team that secured victory over Crystal Palace last Saturday.

Confirmed Teamsheet

David Moyes makes three changes to that side, with Jarrad Branthwaite and Hayden Hackney rested, while Jake O'Brien is on the bench. Harrison Armstrong retains his place in the side to face his former loan club after another impressive performance on Saturday. Dibling for George is the other switch.

Everton: Pickford, Röhl, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko, Garner, Armstrong, Dewsbury-Hall, Dibling, Ndiaye, Barry.

Subs: Travers, Patterson, Beto, O'Brien, George, Johnson, Alcaraz, Aznou, Foster.

No complaints from me.

Changes appear to make sense in the circumstances.

Typical Moyes, playing Keane over O’Brien, hope the fans chant JOB

Not worth risking Jared makes sense, but Jimmy Garner feels like a risk. Preston always go hard in these games, it's a risk to play someone who on Saturday we were told shouldn't have even played 10 mins.

Wow!
Can’t believe Michael Keane getting the nod over JOB!
Does not at all bode well!
Ridiculous
Apart from that a good enough team

Just simply win tonight!

Preston have made 7 changes, so hopefully we’ll coast through this and give the younger players confidence.

Ah Christy, #2 - if he wants to go and the club want a fee for him then he’s not going to be risked in a League Cup game at Preston. Surely not every single post has to contain a stick to beat Moyes with?

I’d rather Jake stayed of course.

Wise up guys, selection makes sense.

Note Branthwaite and Hackney out of squad, rested.

JoB is the right centre back Keane is the left CB

Interesting that Dibbles is in, I look forward to see what he can do 😉👍

Dibling was poor this time last year if memory serves. Hope he pulls out all the stops.
Not starting Patterson either. Moyes is beyond cruelty.
Well at least we know Premier League safety through mediocrity is a cert hey Davie.

I don't give a hoot about the Mickey Mouse cup but winning every game is the priority no matter what the competition, however, Keane is the usual liability and we all know he has seen better days but maybe Tarks has too.

It's good to see Garner back as long as he isn't overworked too soon after the surgery also Dibling getting a start so hopefully he can take advantage of it.

No Patto, O'Brien (he must be off then), Beto or Aznou?! Perfect game for the 4 of them. This manager...

Thought he might have given Johnson and Aznou a run out but maybe he has taken note of all the flak he would be facing for fielding a weakened team.

Sad that Jake, an honest pro, appears to be on his way and we look like getting a 2 bob full back.

And Allen Ludden whispers into the mic..."the password is...stability". "No,wait, expectations".

No O’Brien is bad news. He should have been the first name on the team sheet. If we’re selling him, we not only need to replace him as a centre back, but we’ll also we need two new ones pretty sharpish as Keane and Tarkowski are in decline and out of contract.

Branthwaite and O’Brien could have been a dominant Premier League centre back partnership for years to come - it looked like one thing we’d actually got right. Everton just find new ways to make life miserable.

If we sell O’Brien it’s a really dreadful sign, not only of the manager but also the ‘transfer team’ and chief executive.

Steve Jones, no O'Brien. It's Keane in for Branthwaite

If O'Brien leaves, are we allowed to claim it was because of old wrinkled ass?

Shame to see JOB obviously on his way out. That'll leave us with Jarrad, Tarks and Keane. With Jarrads injury record in mind, sounds awfully risky.

Every finger crossed that Dibling takes his chance tonight

If Jake is going, maybe a swap for Munoz, well I think we have a better player in the team.
Also from memory when Rohl came last season, I am certain, it was stated that in Germany, he had played in a number of positions, including in the centre of defence. If so, he could stand in, also Myko has also played in the centre of defence, Aznou could then play left back.

Enjoy the game tonight because we won’t be playing in this round next as we will be playing in Europe!

Ok maybe not.

John 21, or, we simply keep O’Brien and give him game time ahead of Keane and Tarkowski.

Keane over O'Brien???
He's stronger than Keane even if he has thrown his hand in, which you can't blame him for tbh, Moyes out!!

Mykolenko as a CB? He should be left back - in the changing room.

Strange playing Garner as he said he shouldnt even be on the bench on Saturday.

Worrying times if we sell O'Brian.

Moyes being stubborn and cutting his nose off to spite his face again, picking Keane with Tarks again in what could well be the worst CB pairing in our whole history.
