Jack Grealish is on his way back to Hill Dickinson Stadium after another loan agreement was reached with Manchester City.
A frantic deadline day saw Grealish undergo a medical ahead of completing another season-long loan move. Grealish recorded two goals and six assists in 22 appearances last season before a stress fracture in his foot curtailed his campaign.
Grealish had been linked with other teams — including his boyhood club Aston Villa — but his preference was to return to Everton, whose chief executive Angus Kinnear told BBC Radio Merseyside he had "remained in contact" with the winger.
Now fit again after doing a lot of work at Finch Farm over the summer, before he returned to Manchester City ostensibly for new manager Enzo Maresca to take a look at him up close and personal, Grealish has rejoined David Moyes’s squad and says the relationship he has built with the club was a major factor in his decision to come back:
“It feels so good. I’m so happy,” Grealish said.
“I think I’m at my best at everything in life, not just football, when I feel loved. That’s what the manager has given me, what my team-mates have given me and especially what the fans have given me.
“Every time I see an Everton fan, it’s just pure love and the way they’ve welcomed me since that first game against Leeds, I’ll never forget that. It means a lot to me and hopefully I’ve made a few Everton fans happy.
“I had a perfect time here for the first six months, then I stayed around after I got injured. I’ve been watching all the Everton games in pre-season and since the season started.
“Now I feel ready to go. I’m ready to start training tomorrow and prepare for the games.”
Grealish says his relationship with Moyes was another significant reason behind his decision to return.
“I love him, the manager. I think he’s such a great guy. He was a big reason why I wanted to come back here as well.
“I’ve had certain managers in the past where I feel I’ve played my best football under them – and he falls into that category, for sure.
“I had such a good connection with him – and the players here. I’m ready to play wherever the manager wants me and help as much as I can.”
The loan deal will extend to the end of Grealish's current deal with Manchester City, and is believed to involve Everton paying 90% of his £300k weekly salary, representing a substantial chunk of Everton's squad costs for this upcoming season.

Grealish, KDH, Hackney, Garner and Armstrong are all smart footballers. Brennan and George will be able runners. There is a lot to like about our midfield, even without Ndiaye, and that's not even counting Rohl and Norgaard.

Not to absolve the owners/Kinnear/Transfer Committee or whoever you want to blame, but the actual business done looks positive, Ndiaye excepted, but maybe needs must. Some dead wood shifted, some potentially better players secured. A right-back for Christ’s sake.
For all the anger we felt towards Moyes for the fall off last season, this window has shown what he’s having to deal with in terms of the ownership and management structure. He has played a blinder and gone up in my estimation by challenging the Armstrong move and demanding improvements.
He’s been poorly treated by being left on the final year of his contract. It should have been extended or he should have been given his handshake in July. Fair play to him for refusing to accept the lame duck role.

What an amazing window this recruitment team has had again eh?
One fit for purpose striker, no Graham is nowhere near ready for this level, we lose Ndiaye who is arguably our most productive player regardless of what people think, we allow Beto to go who is arguably an equal to Barry, with no replacement.
What the window has shown us is that TFG are not going to be the answer to take this club forward, another summer that we haven't heard a single peep out of any of them, they are worse in many ways than Moshiri.
Kinnear is another waste of a position and you wonder what he's being paid a wage for, and another one now who's role should come up for scrutiny over the next few weeks.
Answer are needed now.

I hear you, but what we really needed was firepower.
Beto was very limited, Ndiaye wanted off but there are two players that probably would have scored around 12 goals between them maybe on a good season 15.
We are left with Barry and just have to hope Grealish improves his goal return and Johnson and George somehow hit 8 each at least

We’ve got rid of a lot of deadwood, basically swapped N’Diaye for Grealish, finally got a decent right back, we’ve got pace up front and a very decent midfield.
Balogun was unfortunate, but it was a big risk and people mourning the sale of Beto are forgetting he was basically useless.
George can play striker and maybe sign Vardy for the season, he’d probably score more than Barry anyway.

It's not Football Manager, it's the Premier League 2026 where basically every club even the likes of Hull have bulked up their squads no end, you only need to look at how quickly Sunderland left us trailing last summer, European football this season with AC Milan on the fixture list.
We have one striker, let's get that right, one single fit senior striker available, not George, not Johnson and not Braiden Graham at this level either.
We have Barry available now probably all season as we never buy in January.

One striker up front? And one winger having to forego his position so another can hog his position on the wing but doing very little defending on his side of the pitch.
He also hasn’t got much football intelligence if he thinks Moyes is a great manager, money has definitely got his love for this manager £270,000worth every bleedin’ week.
I feel desperately sorry for the wonderful fans of this now twat of a club caused by these very poor new owners — a curse on the lot of them and the transfer committee they formed.

The Tenants of Anfield Hall have only Isak fit. Ekitiké is out for a long while. Putting Gakpo up front is like us putting George up front.
