| The Ballard of Davie Hickson |
|
As I keep telling everyone I've been supporting Everton now for fifty
years (first game: Everton v Chelsea, 5 Feb 1955). I remember my
mate, Harry Owens bringing into the playground at Rathbone a version of
The Ballad of Davy Crockett which went;
Born in the grasslands of Ellesmere Port, Apart from the factual inaccuracy, Dave Hickson was born in Salford, but moved to Ellesmere Port as a three year old, it's rather a good song. I wonder if any other older Evertonians, remember this. Or was it just a product of Harry and his dad's private imagination ? Rick Tarleton |
