Is it their intention to screen the match against Spurs to embarass Everton for the expected failure of not being able to qualify for the Champions League? The holy grail of European football prestige and extra finances.

We should set up a pool on what people think the points difference will be between us and Spurs come April 7.

I say EFC will be ahead of them 2 points.

Entry fee is £5 payable to my PayPal account. Winner Takes All! [Less modest Operating Costs.]

I hate ESPN, ruins the game for me having to put up with friggin John Barnes and the other Red idiots they employ. Sigh.

#060 Michael Kenrick, I (and others no doubt) will be expecting a full and detailed breakdown of those other operating costs. Otherwise I shall have to ask Lyndon to change your moniker to Kenwrick, as you explain that how should you be expected to know what they consist of, you're only the webmaster.. etc. etc.

Would the winnings be ringfenced?

Michael Kenrick #060, are you thinking Everton 55 pts Spurs 53pts? Possible but I reckon we would have to get all 3 at Norwich and beat M/C at home. Otherwise 51 vs 53 is a reasonable gamble. Everton now 42 D W D D W = 51 Spurs now 48 D D L W L = 53

Anything is possible but we need to get our shooting boots on and stop leaking at the back.

Hey this is a tough fixture but looking at it more positively, it is chance for us to put a dent in one of our major rivals chances. 6 pointer and our fate is in our own hands.

As we have shown with far lesser teams, we are more than capable of winning at WHL. I always consider us favourites against Tottenham home or away, and despite the last minute nature of the victory, we were well worth our win at Goodison against them.

I think what very slim CL ambitions we might still have will require at least 4 points at WHL and The Emirates. A tall order but nothing is impossible. Except for things that are actually impossible of course.

Anyone know how much clubs receive for TV matches?

Yes Jeff it's £7.55 for Normal Clubs, and £6.4 Zillion for the Redshite and the Manc's. Seems fair to me.

Jeff #203, I posted an article last two seasons breaking down the payments for broadcasting rights. Can't find it, but from memory it's around £500k "facility fee" per game shown. Each club is guaranteed 10 live broadcasts a season - which normally happens and when they don't, they still get paid for it. This clause shows how focused the domestic TV deal is on the perceived big clubs.

IIRC, Last season we were on 9 times (paid for 10). Season before think it was 14-15 times. Man Utd were on 26 times, and the new media darlings, City, 24 times.

Hence you can see how these clubs will get around £8m more, not including the increased performance fee for finishing higher (about £1m a place).

The overseas deal is different, as in most territories they now carry all 380 games live. Currently it's £18m per club. Liverpool want to change this as they feel that it should be based on your global fan base... It won't happen as it needs 2/3 of the Premier League to vote for it, which for 2/3 of them would be a decrease.

Currently the domestic TV deal is split 50% equally between clubs, 25% league placing, 25% facility fees for live broadcasts. No idea if this will be the same for the new deal, which also includes additional live games (26 I think). I suspect it will be the same, and the minimum 10 broadcasts will be the same - it'll be just 26 more opportunities to show the favoured clubs.

Thanks Matt - are Cup games included in this or is there a separate system for them?
