Gibson hopes injury problems are behind him
The Irishman returned to action three weeks ago after suffering a recurrence of the thigh problem that sidelined him for almost three months earlier in the season and is looking to play a full-time role in the Blues' quest for Wembley and the Champions League.
"I think I'm getting back to where I was before I got injured," the midfielder told evertontv. "It was a bit unfortunate getting injured and then it was a bit more serious than we first thought it was.
"Then it recurred a little bit when I came back at the end of December. It was disappointing but, fingers crossed, this time everything's alright.
"I'm just getting back to my full fitness really but hopefully I can kick on from here and play the rest of the games between now and May."
The former Manchester United man is now eyeing a win against Norwich this weekend, one that would keep the Blues' European dream alive.
"It's a big game," he said. "I think if we want to kick on and get fourth place we need a win.
"We've got Manchester City and Arsenal coming up in the next few weeks and they're two massive games as well. I think if we could get three points at Norwich on Saturday it would be a big result."
Gibson is also confident that teammate Nikica Jelavic, who has suffered a disappointing season himself but for different reasons, will come good after enduring a worrying goal drought over the last few months.
Jelavic has just six League goals to his name this season and his only goal for Everton in 2013 came in the FA Cup at Cheltenham.
"I think all strikers go through periods like this," Gibson said. "[Jela]'s doing it in training every day so hopefully he gets a bit of luck on Saturday and bangs one in."
