Everton Heroes Design T-shirts for Charity

An exclusive set of t-shirts designed by a trio of Everton stars is now on sale to raise vital funds for the Blues' official charity.

Blues' stars Leighton Baines, Muhamed Besic and Gerard Deulofeu have each put their design skills to the test and created their very own t-shirt, inspired by their relationship with Evertonians.

The ‘Hero Collection' will help to raise money for Everton in the Community's Breathing Space programme that works to make significant life changes to young people either in care or at risk of entering the care system.

Everton left-back Baines paid a visit to Zap Graffiti in Liverpool city centre earlier this week to meet some of the young people benefitting from the Breathing Space programme and find out first-hand how the money will be used. Whilst there, he donned a pair of safety glasses and got involved the youngsters with a creative graffiti project.

Following the visit, Baines said: “It's been really interesting to come down and meet some of the guys from the programme. The project is about giving people who need that little bit of help, especially with confidence and self-esteem, the opportunity to get out and to take part in creative activities like this.

“From that stems people who perhaps weren't even confident enough to step outdoors getting to a point where they're socialising and going out and finding jobs, and it's just another very positive thing that the charity is doing within the community.”

In terms of the design process for the t-shirts, for Deulofeu, there was only one option and that was to pay homage to the special song that the Toffees sing for the Spanish winger. The white t-shirt features an images of Deulofeu celebrating a goal alongside the words “He's Magic You Know…Gerard Deulofeu”.

Meanwhile Baines was keen to incorporate the special bond he shares with fans, particularly at Goodison Park, so opted for a sketch of himself applauding supporters as he walks towards the corner flag, with the famous Archibald Leitch criss-cross design in the background and a font inspired by one of his favourite albums, The Beatles' Rubber Soul.

Besic wanted to make his cream tee personal and so he took inspiration from some of his tattoo designs and they feature within his Everton squad number alongside an emotive image of him celebrating a goal, showing his passion for the Club and the fans.

The three players are all proud ambassadors for Everton in the Community and each jumped at the opportunity to help raise funds for the charity and support the work they do throughout the year.

Deulofeu said: “I think there might be some competition in the dressing room over whose t-shirt is the most popular but the most important thing is that if people are interested in getting one they can go and buy any of the t-shirts and know that a good chunk of the money is going to a really good cause.”

The t-shirts are now on sale at Everton One, Everton Two and online at evertondirect.com. Priced at £25 for adults and £20 for juniors with £5 from each t-shirt sold going towards Everton in the Community.

Only £5 to the charity?

So the other £20 was for production?

If it was the other way around I would gladly pay, unless I am getting this all wrong?
