Everton Under-18s goalkeeper George Pickford has signed his first professional contract, a 2-year deal with the club.
The 17-year-old (no relation to first-team keeper Jordan Pickford) has been with the Everton Academy since joining aged 11, and has come to the fore this season, his first full one with the Under-18s.
On Pickford’s first professional contract, Everton Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, said: “We’re really pleased to have George sign this deal with the Club. He’s been excellent this season with the Under-18s and getting minutes for the Under-21s, along with training sessions with Sean’s squad, highlights the pathway that is there for our young talents.
“We are looking forward to seeing George continue his progression with us at Everton.”

Just need some outfield players to break through, or is it because keepers go out on loan and get games?

If only we could get that keepers coach to have a look at some of the younger outfield players.
