This is a good performance from Villa the only negative is it will give more incentive to Chelsea to get a result today.
But Man City's poor form is bound to change – and you don't need a second guess to know who it will be against.

Pep is not gonna like it next week when he sees our marauding midfield surge through the lines to feed our lethal striker who can hit the ball goalward early and true with consummate power and unerring accuracy.
Oh… hang on a minute… Something not quite right there. Egg-nog overload!

The only thing about Boxing Day is if they turn in a performance out of anger and frustration but Pep will obviously have all eyes on the Champions League now.

Forest absolutely flying under Nuno.
In hindsight, maybe his appointment in 2021 would have seen Everton in a different place by now?
Instead of that, Moshiri made probably his last final two errors appointing Rafa and Lampard.

John,
Spurs turned Man City over 4-0 at The Etihad. The week before, they were beaten at home by Ipswich, who at the moment are 3-0 down to the skunks.
Previous results against teams have no bearings whatsoever on games coming up against those same teams. We can get a result at The Etihad on Boxing Day.
As Brian says, most expected Arsenal to turn us over easily enough. They never… and at the moment are playing far better than Man City.

I wonder if Wolves will keep their players in line tomorrow. How they weren't charged last week after Cunha ripped the glasses of the official and another player had to be forcibly restrained and carried off the pitch.
I doubt they would have been so lenient with us.

I don't mind Palace. I live in the middle of them and palace and the Brighton fans are a pain in the arse. They act like the RS but without the trophies to back it.
I've been to Palace with Everton and as a neutral and never had any issues. The Prince George at Palace is one of my favourite away pubs and the ginger Irish Landlady knows me by name. Shithole ground but far better day out than the Amex.
Brighton fans taunt Palace with “mind the gap” every season but prematurely. I'd actually enjoy it if Palace reel them in again.
The only think that grinds my gears with Palace is that fucking drum, their stupid postcode chant, and their “ultra” flags, but to be fair, they back their team!
Anyway, only one team for me…

On Croydon, I work in Tourism (villa holidays) in Spain and one of my agents and friends is a Barca fan from Menorca who married a Croydon girl. They were over here visiting the in-laws and I met him for a steak and drinks in Croydon.
There were girls brawling in the gutters and marauding gangs of shithouses looking for trouble and it was a Tuesday night. I've had less scary nights in St Helens on blood Friday (topical eh?).
My amigo was horrified. He'd never experienced chav culture before and refuses to visit Croydon again.
Still prefer Palace to Brighton though — Brighton fans are like Geordies — deluded cunts.

Last time I went to Manchester, Joe, I had a telly thrown at me from a block of flats. On the way to Maine Road.
I've not been to the new place. Every town has its cunts. Leeds for example, is great for a night out but shit for away games. Same with Nottingham, Leicester, Sheffield, Bristol, especially Bristol… Portsmouth is shitty too on match days.
To be fair, I've heard many horror stories from friends who went to Goodison in the 70s supporting other teams…

Mark, Leicester is not great for a night out mate. I lived there for my sins. Purgatory seems better for this pope-lover.
Those streets around Maine Road were fucking awful. One gang, the Alley Boys, all wore finest leather if they could afford it. Tooled up to the max. Mams with hairnets on and fag in mouth urging them on from the outside bogs.

I'm watching this game in a tiny pub on the Welsh border near Hereford. We're visiting my in-laws and I told my wife, 2 hours ago, I'm nipping to the shop for wine.
Just now a local walked in with a twin pack of lightbulbs. This isn't a joke…
His mate said “I see you've bought some lightbulbs, Dave, what's that about then boyo?”
Dave replied “One of my bulbs has blown in the kitchen.” “Why've you bought two then Dave?”
“They were on offer.”
“Good shout!”

Place called Kington, Paul, near Leominster. I was in the local footy club when Saint (but he's shit now) Doucoure scored to keep us up two seasons ago.

That Bryan Hamilton/Clive Thomas semi v the shite at Maine Road in 1977, Joe, was murder after with City everywhere. Like the old Baseball ground, alleys all around and their lads knew them like the back of their four-finger hands.
City Away was way tougher than Old Trafford.

Guess we don't have to worry about Saints suddenly sprinting up the table. New manager is Juric. Just sacked after 12 games at Roma.
Years of unbroken mediocrity at Torino and Genoa. So many successful managers on the beach and they hire him? What the fuck???

I was there, Paul, but don't remember the City fans. There were that many of us. (As in “them” and us.) I shared a car with three blues and two reds. Those reds were very quiet on the way back.
That Welsh twat hurt us almost as much as Heysel. I hate Reece-Mogg almost as much for his likeness to that cunt as I do for his effete twattery and I've never liked Mr Bean for the same reason.
The only defence for VAR I can think of is that non-decision.

Palace 1, Arsenal 5.
Our result last week looking even better.
I'm torn between grudgingly giving Dyche credit and wishing him gone but all those people who admire fluid attacking footy with limited squads need to maybe reel it in. There's a time and place for the adventurous stuff and we're not there yet.

I think that a lot of us feel the same, Mark, just waiting for direction from the new fellas. Dyche seems to think that he will still be around, judging by what he said after his meeting with Marc Watts.
We went to Maine Road that day on the open back of a little lorry, Mark.

Don't know if you're taking the piss there, Paul, but I think we were in my red mate's Hillman Avenger. In those days we went to blues games either in my scouse mate's dad's Ford Transit, his Austin Maxi or my Viva.
The long aways I went on the Blue Streak on my own as my “proper blue” scouse mate didn't do them. - Ipswich, Southampton, Wolves, boro etc,
I travelled everywhere in the barren '70s watching us and still get told to Fuck off and support Man Utd cos my accent's not quite right. Bit pissed, sorry.

Don't know if I can be arsed about this Fury/Usyk thing. I got it on a not-very-legal Sky Box Office stream. Suppose, I'll watch, otherwise it's having to read for journal review an article comparing prosecuting petty crime in 16th and 17th Century Frankfurt and Bristol!!!

The fight got switched off on me Dave so I had to revert to the radio, and the radio would probably make even Joe Bugner, sound exciting. Tony (62), Tony when I used to listen to fights on the wireless years ago I learned from a pro fighter to listen to the crowd not the ringside reporters, the crowd roars told you which way the fight was going.
I thought Fury needed a KO from the ninth round onwards, he had a good go, didnt let himself down but never got on the front foot enough, maybe Dyche has been having a word in his ear!
