Want both teams to lose, which as we all know cannot happen, so hope there's a torrential downpour and the game gets abandoned!
Man Utd are flying out to Malaysia immediately after their game on Sunday, so there's no chance of the Europa League final being re-scheduled so the tournament will be cancelled! Nobody wins!! Result!!

By the way, Michael, the final is in Bilbao, Spain, not Barria, Italy. Is there even such a place, or did you mean Bari?

Bilbao is a superb place and I'm a bit jealous watching all the fans there.
No reason why this type of event is not something we can aspire to in the short to medium term.
Hoping for a good game. Spurs to win for me.

Yea, I shoulda checked when I saw only 'Sam Mames Barria' as the location.
Apparently, The San Mamés Stadium (also known as Nuevo San Mamés or San Mames Barria) is an all-seater football stadium in Rafael Moreno Pitxitxi Kalea, Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain, and home of Athletic Bilbao.
This one is gonna be a hard watch as I don't want either of them to win. But let's say if one side comes out and plays a front-foot game rather than passing backwards half the time...
Nah. It's still gonna be unpleasant.

Tough one to call. I have no affiliation with either, but one of them will pick up a European trophy and be in the Champions League next season.
Remarkable given the seasons they've had, but I guess they are there for qualifying last season.
Outside of the football, this means more for Manchester United financially.

Not at all Hewey. That's silly. Both Spuds and Man-Utd have great performances in them. Mind you, the more the CL expands the less "quality" for the two others. You would be in seventh Heaven Hewey if we were in next season's Europe League. If not - typical you - you ought to fecking be!

Ah, nice, I wouldn't fancy triple-c on any of your last starting XI in Sunday's fixtures. You might want to pray each night that Isak is fit and bangs in a hat-trick against us! Mbuemo looks the best bet. Forest lads maybe but they have been better away recently. I'd probably be tempted to get someone in and hope that he doesn't skipper the same player. Mind you, he'll go for Salah, won't he?

Michael, I was just going to make a similar comment when the ref capped his calm performance with the yellow against Maguire.

The amount of diving and going down in this game is embarrassing, a piss poor game but I don't suppose Spurs fans will be bothered if they hold on, this is the worst Utd side I've seen since the early 80s, Utd fans complained about Jose but they were a better to watch than this shower

We can say what we want about the quality of these two. But they've done something we haven't seen in donkey's years, and are unlikely to for a long time, and that's get to a European Final.
In fact, Spurs, given the amount of injuries they've had, have defended brilliantly in this 2nd half, and fair play to them if they hang on.
I only wish I live long enough to see us in a final of this magnitude.

Nah, I love Richi don't get me wrong here Dave, but I think he's passed his best days now and he's won silverware now, I always feel that same hunger isn't there for players when they've won something and move somewhere that they are unlikely to win anything.
Fabian Delph was a clear example of that for me.
If we could get Richarlison back on loan great, but some of the quotes I've seen, we couldn't possibly go and pay that for him.

Branners was never in a million years going to United.
I said as much last summer, the rumours linking him were absolutely mental, he is far far too good for that club now.
United is now just a historical relic, it's still got the fundamentals there but you do feel that club will now go many many moons without winning a league title, already it's 12 years.
Branthwaite will only go to one of Manchester City or Real Madrid for me, and it won't be for anything like the dolly mixtures that the Red Mancs were offering last summer.

I never ever want us resting players in any Cup or league game.
I was disgusted this season by our attitude in that Southampton Cup match back in September.
This club should never be passing up chances to win silverware, 30 years is disgusting for a club like Everton
There is probably only us and Villa who are long standing top flight teams that have not won anything for years.
Practically every other club that has had a good 20 years in the Premier League in that time has since lifted something

Not a joke, Mark, you both matter too much for that, a sideways snipe perhaps!
Glad you're both rolling in it enough.

Phil, why do we have to love Ange mate? I fucking hate him.
He'll be history next week and Silva will move across London.

I watched the whole game and both teams stunk! Any reasonable side in the premier or Europe, would have beaten Spurs or Man Utd no problem.
If Amorim or Peskysolid? (The Spurs manager) are in charge next season I'll be surprised. Man Utd's manager didn't have a clue, from start to the last 10 minutes, when they finally woke up and had a go.
Apparently Spurs in that game, according to Opta, had the worst stats for a team in the final since 2009. Man Utd's stats couldn't have been much better.
To see superman Bruno Fernandes on the halfway line with 5 minutes to go told me everything, the players don't give a toss.
According to the Man Utd Chairman, Sir Sackalot, Man Utd are financially in the shit, maybe he can sort that out by sacking a few more low paid workers, while players (who put in less effort) are paid £350k a week.

Rubbish game, was dreading extra time, but glad that the Spurs won. Happy for Richarlison and for Ange.
Paul (142) — not sure why you hate him. He is a genuine guy, wears his heart on his sleeve, and has copped a lot of flak from the press. At least he's delivered them a trophy.

Hi Frank, I think it's one of those inexplicable just rubbing up the wrong way things. I can't stand his attitude in pressers all through the season, mate. The way he responds gruffly and antagonistically to utterly reasonable questions from reporters.
Ah, you got me Frank, the Merv James sledging in him. I must confess that winning a trophy with that club makes me feel more endearing about him!

Big Ange was as good as his word eh?
He promised them a trophy in his second season which for most of this season looked about as likely as me promising everyone I'd have a weekend with Miss Universe lol.
At the end of the day, Finals are rarely about entertainment.
I wouldn't mind us beating the Shite in next seasons FA Cup Final, even in the worst game in history, it's all about getting the hands on that shiny fuckin' trophy.

It certainly wasn't a spectacle, but how many times in the past has the main event failed to live up to the build up?
Those Tottenham supporters won't care how it was won and will probably not have slept before making their way home.
Focus on the league? Play a weakened team in the cups? Try telling that to them this morning.
A trophy and Champions League, despite a dreadful league campaign.
I get that the league is the priority, but the two go hand in glove. A cup run can help build momentum. And there is nothing better than seeing your team lift a trophy.

Exactly, Danny.
Much will be made of how bad Spurs have been this season but key me tell you this.
How many folk remember 1995 for us finishing 15th?
Every single Everton fan will only remember that year fondly because it was our last piece of silverware.

The ironic thing about it this season, being a Spurs fan today with the season practically finished will be far more rewarding than being an Arsenal fan.
They have won a European trophy while the Gunners have yet again fallen short late on in a quest to win something.
I'd imagine Spurs fans will be pissing themselves with glee this morning, much as we would if Everton had just won it and Liverpool flunked the league and Champions League.
Football, it's a funny old game.

Did anyone who was interviewed on Sunday mention that Everton should always be competing to try and win trophies?
The Spurs manager, who I've seen ridiculed in some quarters, was very bold with his statement that he always wins a trophy in his second season, with those horrible frauds in the London based media ready to pounce and ridicule him even more.
Good on yer, mate — there's not many things better than seeing a man back up his very bold words.
It takes me back to the Wembley half-time team talk when Everton had Liverpool exactly where we wanted them (for the people in the stands, anyway) and hearing our captain describing how they knew Liverpool would throw the kitchen sink at them during the second half.

Tony,
And that was a Liverpool team that had all-time greats like Jay Spearing, Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing in.

"I wouldn't mind us beating the Shite in next season's FA Cup Final' even in the worst game in history, it's all about getting the hands on that shiny fuckin' trophy."
The 1989 final is obviously a bad memory for us, for many reasons. Early goal conceded, but everyone will remember the late equaliser, then the extra time goals – and we still lost.
However, the RS side in that final broke the record for the most back-passes in an FA Cup Final (probably since they started measuring — pre Opta, for the kids). The previous record? Same team the year before (when they lost to Wimbledon).

Tony, that semi-final was awful. There for the taking, but we waved the white flag of surrender.
The Wigan quarter final was the final nail. Forget white flags, we deserted before the fight and were beaten before they crossed the white line.
Matt, that final had mixed emotions. Given the events that had occurred, it was inevitable they would win. It was a great match, with the twists and turns, but lost in the meaning of the occasion.
I know we all moan about sideways and backwards passing, but sometimes you have to be patient and keep the ball if it's not on. I can't remember the exact one, but I was at a derby at Anfield in the 80s. I can't remember which one, but they had Hansen and Lawrenson in their team. I was in the Main Stand surrounded by red mist.
People go on about Pep and City, but that team took their time and waited for the moment. I distinctly recall the red frustration as Hansen and Lawrenson played keep ball with each other on the edge of their box. The chant's "attack attack attack" started ring out around me. They carried on, occasionally passing it back to Grobbelaar to join in.

I thought it was an awful game played by 2 very poor teams, in the 2nd half I don't think Spurs had a meaningful attempt on goal, and Man Utd look like a side who don't know what there supposed to be doing. I thought Amorim's statement after the game was very telling when he said if the fans or the club don't want him he will walk away without any compensation. He may not be a very good manager but you cant argue about his principals, couldnt see many other managers saying that.

Both side finished "below" Everton in the table.
Spurs have got a second chance after Levy debacle and maybe able to recover, but Man United have been on the Everton way, with a similar self serving Culture, for years.
Thankfully Everton now appear to be leaving that behind as they progress forward.Spurs have their new Stadium. OkAccording to a friend of mine he was under a leak in the roof at Old Trafford which has him seething with the Glaciers ever since. The roofs at Goodison never leaked ( we would have heard about it).Obviously made of better stuff.
Radcliffe has fell into a deeper hole than Moshiri as regards retaining Directors, with just a minority share holding.
Can't say I am concerned regarding Man United. They deserve it.There is alot more than a Manager problem there.
Congratulations to Tottenham on the line.
"Ratcliffe has in total paid $1,546,061,321 ($1.5billion) for his slice of United, nudging his share up from 27.7 per cent to 28.94 per cent. Ratcliffe, now through INEOS, is the largest single investor in United, but the six Glazer siblings collectively own the majority of shares, at more than 40 per cent.19 Dec 2024"
What a shit show that is.

Brian H@154, I dont watch football like I used to do but I think Manchester United, have got a very good head coach.
I dont know if hes a manager, in the old sense of what a manager used to be like but, I think its clear what the problem is at United, and until they can get away from the current squad of players, who will be on a fortune, then they are going to be in big trouble whoever is in charge, imo.
I thought United, were totally finished, then I watched them play at Anfield, in one of Amorims, earliest games and they were the better team and played much better football, than Liverpool, and then I watched them a few weeks later at Goodison, and that same squad of players, just didnt want to know playing against a very aggressive team that day.
United got themselves back into the game but only when Everton began to tire and lose a lot of intensity, with my overall thoughts being that United have got a lot of very overpaid, average prima-donnas, and I think they are in big trouble as a football club, until they can route out what looks to be a very obvious poison, in their squad?
We have seen it at Everton, with average players getting contracts that are well above what theyre worth, but hopefully that is now going to become a thing of the past🤞
Sorry Jerome, I hadnt read your post which explains things clearer in less words!

I love to watch his emotional outbursts. I think it is entertaining. I wouldn't have him as a manager in a million years.
I expect him to get the sack.

Actually was reading your post and thinking you were hitting the nail on the head and your observation back up Like Everton I think there is a backroom problem and internal Management problem. But at last there are signs that Everton have turned the corner.I always maintain that Man United were 5 years behind on the same Everton path.So they have a bit more to go.The Manager is better than the team.

Tottenham have a bite at the cherry now despite their league campaign. On my morning supermarket run, I listened in and their manager confessed that he took a gamble and sacrificed the league to focus on winning the Europa League. It has come off and they now have the benefits.
United are in trouble. Financially and behind the scenes. I agree, Amorim is a good modern day coach.
Portugal seems to have a recent habit of generating good coaches. Alongside Amorim, there is Silva at Fulham, Pereira at Wolves, who turned them around and Nuno at Forest.
Sort of related as it's a European thread, but yesterday was what would have been the 79th birthday of Howard Kendall. There is a lovely photo of him beaming and holding the European Cup Winners Cup. The only Everton manager to have his team lift a European trophy. If I knew how to upload it, I would,
Understandably, most remember the Bayern Munich semi final at Goodison and the scenes at Rotterdam.
I remember us beating Fortuna Sittard 5 - 0 over two legs, and although still an enthusiastic teenage, told myself we were going all the way.
I can't upload the photo, but here is a link for those of us who were around to experience it and those who will have their day in future.

Sticks in Throat. Diabolical Spurs had an easy route to the Final and played a truly shite Man Utd. Parked the bus.
One shot on target and that was a fluke. Champions League next and a £100M payout. Sickening.

Man Utd are flying out to Malaysia immediately after their game on Sunday, so there's no chance of the Europa League final being re-scheduled so the tournament will be cancelled! Nobody wins!! Result!!
