I don't really believe that any of the U21 side are candidates for Everton. They are all a step up from what we could possibly land and being at that level adds a big premium.
I wasn't so impressed by McAtee and he may be £30M? One player there was bought for £35M from Newcastle by Forest? Johansen of Ipswich was good but a target for Chelsea and Arsenal?
A wonderful quote from Carsley: "Good coaching is making the best of what you have in front of you, not trying to turn them into something different." Very good game though.

Watching 2nd semi final and Woltenmade has scored again and played well.
Some excellent passes and runs. The old cliche 'good touch for a big man' is crying out to be used.

Liam,
I think he's a better bet than Barry, on the bench again tonight, and only getting on for the 2nd half, what do you think?

I was unimpressed when initially saw Woltenmade. Today is first time I've seen him play this well.
Not seen much of Barry, Christy, but he's just missed an absolute sitter from 3 yards! Went to head it, it hit his shoulder and keeper clawed it out.

Woltenmade just missed a sitter also! 6 yards out free header, put it wide.

Liam I think we should offer Calvert-Lewin a better deal!

My thoughts exactly, Ben.
Just what we need, more sitter missing strikers!

It has been mentioned that Woltenmade reminds some as being a German Peter Crouch.
I might be putting myself in the firing line here, but in some ways, he reminds me of Duncan Ferguson.
Good in the air. Can hold up with his back to goal. Deceivingly good with his feet and can run at defenders.
Still only 23.

He doesn't remind me if Crouch either, Danny.
I get the Ferguson comparison with his hold up play and skilful touch. Doesn't seem to have the aerial dominance of Duncan, though?
Christy – I wouldn't go that far 🤣

Germany - England final then on Saturday night.
It's been a decent watch these U21 knock-out games. When there's competitiveness and jeopardy, then football is so much better.

Barry wins everything in the air. He's like a magnet to the ball. He looks mobile and quick.
I'd like to see him at Goodison

Did we have three players in an England U21 World Cup winning team, Jonjo Kenny,Calvert-Lewin and a midfielder that all thought would make it but has not been heard of since going, I think, to Ipswich although his name evades my memory?

Alan I seem to recall we had now fewer than 5 in the U-20s squad that won the World Cup, all of whom made regular starts. Calvert-Lewin, Kenny, Lookman, Kieran Dowell and Callum Connolly.
Dowell is likely the one you are thinking about. He was okay, went to Norwich from recollection, but didn't pull up trees. Still less, Connolly (who was a left-back, from recollection).

Dowell had the ability to be a very good player but not the application. Everton sold him to Norwich after loan spells at Forest, Sheffield Utd, Derby County and Wigan.
He then went on loan to Rangers and finished last season on loan to Birmingham but I think he is still a Norwich player.
Callum had been with five or six clubs and is now with Stockport County.
