Everton Women’s winless run continues after the Toffees slumped to a 3-1 loss against West Ham away from home.

Anouk Denton and Amber Tysiak scored twice in the first half while Shekiera Martinez added a third after the break to wrap up the contest for the Hammers. While Katja Snoejis pulled one back just two minutes before the end, it was nothing more than consolation for the Blues, who suffered their sixth defeat in nine games in the Women’s Super League.

They are yet to win a game since their 4-1 derby triumph at Anfield in the WSL curtain-raiser and are currently 10th in the table.

Meanwhile, victory against Everton helped West Ham pick up all three points for the first time this season.

Denton’s opening goal was rather fortunate, with a miscued cross entering the goal despite Everton goalkeeper Emily Ramsey getting a hand on the ball. Tysiak nodded home a Vivianne Asseyi corner to double the hosts’ advantage.

Sorensen’s side was guilty of being lazy when playing out from the back which led to the third West Ham goal. Riko Ukei found a completely unmarked Shekiera Martinez who wriggled into the six-yard box and tucked it past the keeper to wrap up the game.

Verena Hanshaw nearly added a fourth, but her drilled effort from the edge of the box bounced off the far post. The hosts also twice had shots cleared off the line.

Katja Snoejis’ late goal was the only consolation for Everton in this game after an uninspiring and dull performance. The Blues are now just three points off the bottom and need to start racking up points sooner rather than later. Their next assignment is against Newcastle in the League Cup next weekend.

The manager needs sacking. If we want a competitive women's team, we need a manager fit for that team and this bloke is bloody not.
