To our users,

ToffeeWeb is always appreciative of contributions and submissions from our readership towards the content on site. However, it is important to emphasise the guidelines that must be followed.

External sources can be paraphrased with appropriate attribution to the original source, though content that is copied in its entirety from other sources is not permitted. Copying content word-for-word risks legal action, penalties from Google for duplicate content, and reputational damage.

We look forward to reading future submissions.

Thanks.

Not related but whilst your here -- where is the tickets and travel section these days?

I used to get lucky quite often with requests for away tickets on there but now it's gone?

It was me who brought a post from Kevin Molloy to the attention of MK that was word for word copied from the BBC footy site for this reason. That I was concerned about copywright. Mike Gaynes does the same too: word for word from The Athletic, but at least, unlike Kevin, he acknowledges where he got it from.

Unfortunately, after I posted on this, I got a bunch of stick and abuse from Kevin, in which sticking your nose in where it is not wanted and words to the effect of 'there always one xxx [Idon't remember the term exactly]' were the softest.

I have seen lots of articles on here with no recognition where they came from. In the future I will make sure I include that. Never thought that a post copied from an article which itself was probably copied would be copyright.

Very true Paul, just look at newspaper websites, all copied and pasted from one source, including all the errors as nobody fact checks them.

But maybe news websites or journalist have a licence that allows them to copy copywright material?

Can you enlighten us Mike Gaynes?

Ah, was it you who posted to me not Kevin Paul? If so, sorry Kevin.

We used to have a 'news from elsewhere' that linked to other sources and we could comment on the contents.

Maybe reviving that would help? Posters wouldn't have to copy and paste the articles then.

Hi Eric,

Elsewhere on the Web is still a feature. I did this with the BBC story looking at Everton's away record ahead of Arsenal tomorrow.

Some of the old categories we had were not working properly… but it looks like that one is, so we'll try to employ more in future.
