Ivory Coast 1 - 0 Scotland

The big question for Evertonians is: Will Nathan Patterson get a game for Scotland as they take on Ivory Coast at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the build up towards their first World Cup Finals in 28 years.

The Everton right-back can't get any game time for love nor money under David Moyes when he has been named among the substitutes only to remain unused for game after game so far this season.

He played 81 minutes for Scotland in their disappointing loss to Japan when they played at Hampden Park on Thursday. But he has not featured for Everton in the last seven games, with four of them at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.  He has made only 3 starts for Everton all season long, coming on for meaningless minutes right at the end of three other games. 

Tonight's match kicks off at 7:30 pm BST and is being shown on BBC 2.

Curious what kind of attendance they get for this? I'm sure there'd be more interest if it was Senegal.

Everton apart, Ivory Coast don't have a lot of great players to draw in the neutrals.

Moyes will be worrying about the defensive cover for a quick break-out!

Wonderful rendition of “ Flower of Scotland “ tonight. And Patterson did well when he came on. Still mystifies me why he hardly ever gets a game for us. And that right bar of the Ivory Coast looks the business.

I love an upset but it's going a bit far now. When Italy got knocked out in 2010 by Slovakia, I loved it. Similarly when they shared our first round misery in 2014. Missing 2018 was hilarious. Missing 2022 seemed weird.

But no Italy for a third World Cup in a row? Now it's just kind of awkward. You can't laugh any more, you just feel sorry for them.

Hi Kieran. I actually feel similar to you. I rather like Italy. I want to see another Marco Tardelli. They normally have boss kits. I want Roberto Baggio to be happy.

Now the Germans missing three in a row would be another matter altogether.

Did you get tickets for any of the Kansas City games, Kieran?

Re the attendance, my bezzie Al tells me it was 47,822, which is pretty darned good,

Musta bin Souness and all his haggis-munching heathens from beyond the wall... or was that Dalgliesh they showed slumming it in the cheap seats at one point? What-ev!
