Michael, I think the Man City v Liverpool is on TNT Sports 1.

Oh and by the way Everton U21s drew with Birmingham City yesterday 1-1, Davis scoring the equaliser for us.

Forgot to add that Joel Catesby played yesterday, his first game since breaking his leg last October.

I think he was highly rated before this injury.

3-0. Liverpool players' confidence completely shot. Worst defending from them in years.

Bring them on.

Let's hope PSG do the same next week. Please.

Absolutely ordinary as.

I don't think we'll ever have a better to chance of getting into the Champions League.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool look shot. We might need to worry more about Brighton and Brentford.

The Etihad really is the most appalling soulless bowl.

All seater stadiums were a catastrophe for football. Imposed on us by the gobshites to make it like this.

If you showed a footy fan in the 80s this as the future, they would say 'Well, it's dead then, isnt' it.'

Kieran Kinsella
13 Posted 04/04/2026 at 14:36:32
Kevin. Surely West Hams stadium is worse?

It wasn't when 30,000 did the Poznan after the third goal.
John Collins

Spineless this Liverpool team.

They collapse when put under pressure physically.

Dave Abrahams
16 Posted 04/04/2026 at 14:41:09
When it got 4-0, City spent more time fuckin' about than trying to score a couple more I don't think they had a serious shot on goal after that fourth goal. 4-0 is lovely but six or seven nil would have been so much nicer.

Liverpool being as crap as this will make Moyes more cautious when we play them!

Kieran Kinsella
17 Posted 04/04/2026 at 14:42:13
City apparently lead the country for drug arrests in game day. Charlton rank third!

They must have the highest percentage of drug users per attendee given their lowly status and small crowds.

John Collins

8 subs and not one second of added time?
Kieran Kinsella
19 Posted 04/04/2026 at 14:51:32
Dave,

Moyes will no doubt decide to deploy 6 centre-backs when we play Liverpool.

Rob Hooton

I hope they stay this shit for the derby.

But I wouldn't bet against some miracle rejuvenation from the bastards against us.

We will be favourites for the derby! We all know what that means!

How I would love a 5 nil scoreline - for us obviously. I've waited far too long for that. I may even kiss the Moyesiah's arse if we do!

Dave 16.

Don't you get tired of continously having a dig at Moyes?

No, I didn't want him back either, but he's here now, so the least we can do is get behind him and the team.

Sean's out of work isn't he, maybe we should get him back in an advisory role, I'm sure he'd have us banging 6 or 7 in every game from now til the end of the season.

Mark Murphy
29 Posted 04/04/2026 at 16:07:07
I was watching the second half of the Man City - Liverpool game in a multi-screen pub in West Sussex.

When the 4th went in, there were serious altercations at the bar with people shouting at the staff to change the channel.

Mard-arse cunts!

Phil Roberts
30 Posted 04/04/2026 at 16:21:08
Back in 2013-14, we thought we had struck gold. A cup-winning manager and 72 points, admittedly still 7 points behind the Champions League.

We thought we had a manager to take us forward with the defensive solidarity that Moyes has built -- and then it was 2 seasons of 47 points and 11th-place finishes before he was sacked by the new owner.

And how the Reds laughed. Well guys, Slot. Do we need to hold your beer?

Kevin Molloy

Mark Murphy

We should batter them cunts no matter who is in charge. Chelsea are better than them and we put them away. We have to take that mindset into the derby.

Southampton in the semis. Either Leeds or West Ham to join them.

Loaded them three clubs

Steve Brown

Correct, John, but please remember that we are out because the Kenwright model was not fit for purpose in providing the necessary finance to Moyes.

Old Bill still has a long reach.

Neil Tyrrell
53 Posted 04/04/2026 at 23:32:45

Would love to see a sideways Poznan at HD in a fortnight.

That's a foolish post.

Tony Abrahams

Kevin, you're funny mate, you remind me of that sketch in Goodfellas, when Tommy is talking about impending danger!

The thing that makes me think you're funny, Kev, is that I didn't think you were remotely bothered about the cups?

Do us a favour, Michael, stop putting threads on about the cups because you know some people aren't interested!

Philip Devlin
63 Posted 05/04/2026 at 10:37:39
John,

Would you be happy if we, say, for example, got to the Europa League semis next season and won a European trophy the season after?

Tony Abrahams
64 Posted 05/04/2026 at 11:13:10
A foolish post followed by a foolish question John?
John Collins

I'm still trying to work it out Tony.
Christy Ring
66 Posted 05/04/2026 at 11:24:48
Great result for the Saints...

But isn't it a coincidence that Arsenal had all their ‘injured players who withdrew from International duty' back and in the squad??

Philip Devlin
67 Posted 05/04/2026 at 11:30:37
Seems a pretty straightforward enough question to me.

Would you like to see Everton do well in European competition in the next couple of seasons and win a trophy?

Tell me what's foolish about that.

John Collins
68 Posted 05/04/2026 at 11:35:56
I'm torn between being happy that we won a European Trophy or getting twatted in the first rounds, Tony.

I can't make my mind up.

Tony Abrahams
69 Posted 05/04/2026 at 11:47:59
Because I think the only time a question like that wouldn't be foolish Philip, is if you had asked it to Kevin.

Kevin is the only one who says he his not interested in the cups (he might say different because you are talking about European football) but I'm sure that anyone else would bite your hand off, mate.

In a couple of weeks, I'd love to beat Liverpool 5-0 but I'd take a 5-0 defeat if it meant Everton could win a trophy in the next two years.

Philip Devlin
70 Posted 05/04/2026 at 11:53:35
You wouldn't have to be torn, John.

In the European run over those two seasons, you'd be beaten just the once. Against Eintracht Frankfurt. But you'd have twatted Lyon 0-3 away. And beaten Fiorentina in a thrilling final. With a massive bus top parade too.

Hope you both have a great Easter Sunday.🥂

Laurie Hartley
72 Posted 05/04/2026 at 12:05:50
Tony - no! No! No! And again I say no! Away with such thoughts! I watched their game - they have lost it. All we have to do is give them a good hiding after we beat Brentford and everything else will follow.

Our time is coming. I can feel it in my water.

Mark Murphy
73 Posted 05/04/2026 at 12:29:52
I had a similar conversation off line with Tony yesterday. In that version tho Tone said he'd take a 5-0 loss to Liverpool and win all the other games.

I said the opposite - I'd rather twat the shite 5-0 and to hell with the other games.Does that make me bitter and petty?

I'd be interested how many would agree with me or with Tony?

Jack Convery

Philip Devlin

That's why he missed that header last night.

Ian Jones
76 Posted 05/04/2026 at 13:18:16
Tony and Mark,

I'd prefer a 5-0 win vs Liverpool, for us to win all our remaining games and win a trophy next year.

Does that help answer your question? :)

Tony Abrahams
77 Posted 05/04/2026 at 13:35:12
It makes more sense than what both me and Mark are suggesting, Ian, but like I keep saying to anyone who is already talking about the derby: we have got to beat Brentford first.

Some people have grown accustomed and thankful for small mercies and it has got to stop because this never used to be the Evertonian way.

Dave Abrahams
78 Posted 05/04/2026 at 13:38:56
Andy (28) Sorry, I only just noticed your post.

No, I'll never get tired of having a go at Moyes. There's plenty left — I've got 11½ years to get out of my system. I gave him loads when he was here, wrote letters to him, always with my name, address and telephone number on them.

Strangely the first letter I wrote him was full of praise for his team who were unlucky to lose against us in a 2-0 loss in the FA Cup when he was manager of Preston NE, so I wanted him here as our new manager. It didn't take me long to suss him out, even when we finished 4th, with his backs-to-the-wall football.

You mention Dyche — I hope Moyes does the same as Dyche in his last derby game at Goodison when he had the team come out fighting from the first minute with controlled aggression and they were squealing like girls because they weren't getting a soft referee giving them all the usual easy free kicks with Van Dijk the biggest cryer.

I'd be made up if Moyes has a go like that — unlike the semi-final at Wembley when we came out for the second half with one thing in mind — to hold on to that 1-0 lead against a very poor and weak Liverpool team — and we threw the game away.

You didn't want him back so you know the Moyes I mean — the game is there for the taking if Moyes and his squad come out brave enough to give us the victory Moyes above all owes us.

I know you will be cheering as loud as all of us if he does, it's up to him to make us happy. Liverpool are really fucked at the moment let's give them another one.

John Collins
79 Posted 05/04/2026 at 14:02:45
It's there for him Dave.

Beat Brentford and Liverpool we are in a Champions League qualifying position with 5 games to play.

How he approaches the next two games will give us a perfect example of his positivity or negativity.

Its his career in a nutshell the next two games.

Philip Devlin
80 Posted 05/04/2026 at 15:26:10
Dave 78,

I was there at Wembley for that semi - I wouldn't put that on Moyes, we were doing fine until Distin's backpass. We were sat right about 20 yards from it. I still can hear him shout “Fuuuck” as their little weasel got to the ball.

We were three Evertonians in the Liverpool end, and everyone around us knew it after we'd scored. We copped a lot of grief that day.

Dave Abrahams
81 Posted 05/04/2026 at 15:46:14
Philip (80),

Moyes played Mariane Gueye on the wing that day. The lad was over-awed, did nothing. We played with ten men for 62 minutes, I remember them well, before he took him off.

Liverpool had a poor team with a third-choice goalie, Jones from Australia. We had one shot at him in the second half, a weak shot which the goalie fumbled, we never tried to test him in the second half.

Just hold on to that one goal lead was his intention, like it was in many games.

I think a lot of fans thought like you though after that game because, when I got back on the coach, it was divided for and against Moyes.

Before I got on, I met a mate of mine who said to me “We could have wrote the script for that game couldn't we?” I just nodded my head in agreement.

John Collins
82 Posted 05/04/2026 at 16:10:32
It's been denied but the half-time talk was to sit in and defend the lead.

That's straight from the horse's mouth.

Raymond Fox
83 Posted 05/04/2026 at 16:42:18
Talking about Brentford, they are Evs fav, we are 2/1 and the Draw is 2/1 approx. odds.

We are on a roll but they are tough to beat on their patch.

I think it might be a good Idea if discussions about Moyes were cut, its getting boring going over the same guff time and time again.

Kevin Molloy
84 Posted 05/04/2026 at 16:47:40
Are you referring to the semi final from 14 years ago again, John?

Would it not be a more positive outlook to consider we are going for the Champions League this season, for the first time in 20 years?

It's amazing this sudden intense focus on the cups, and why we aren't in the semis instead of Southampton. In the last 10 years, I can't recall one discussion on why our progress in the cups has been poor. Cos we've had bigger, or should that be smaller, fish to fry, like staying in the league, and not going out of business.

But Moyes comes back, takes us ten places up the league, and that is all instantly banked, with barely a murmur of gratitude, and the narrative shifts immediately to 'if we don't get Top 8, he's failed'.

So I''m not going to frame our progress on what round we go out in in the cups, As everyone knows, it's a lottery. The Premier League is the thing. And guess what, we're doing just fine.

Mark Murphy
86 Posted 05/04/2026 at 17:48:56
Not really, Ian. Both Tony and I -- and surely anyone in this thread -- want your opinion.

It's a rhetorical, and maybe silly question granted but 5-0 win v the shite and no other wins or 6 other wins and a 5-0 defeat by the shite?

I don't even live up there any more but I'd hide away for months if they twatted us 5-0 no matter where we ended up in the final table.

John Keating

The game has gone! VAR needs shooting.

Penalty? No way!

Michael Kenrick
88 Posted 05/04/2026 at 18:29:50
Fantastic comeback by the Hammers -- 2 goals in 11 minutes of added time!

A tremendous cross in and great finish. It would have been criminal for VAR to cancel that for a high boot... but it wouldn't have surprised me if they had!

Michael Kenrick
89 Posted 05/04/2026 at 18:48:59
Surely once the goalkeeper plays the ball on to an opponent, why is it offside? It should be a new phase?

I hate that they go back for a previous offside. I'm sure they never did that back in the day.

John Collins
90 Posted 05/04/2026 at 18:49:17
Two teams fighting hard for a semi-final place.

Good to watch.

Tony Abrahams
91 Posted 05/04/2026 at 19:00:22
They're not fighting for the Champions League places though, are they, John!

Brentford is our biggest game since Doucouré scored and kept us in the Premier League in 2023, and if we win, then the games will just get bigger and bigger.

John Collins
92 Posted 05/04/2026 at 19:02:20

Calvert-Lewin gets to go to Wembley.

Meanwhile, we can just dream about next season under Moyes.

Mmmm... I wonder who we'll go out to next year. You can put your house on it.

Tony Abrahams
95 Posted 05/04/2026 at 20:18:25
In the cup, I'm sure it would have been when Lukaku scored those two goals against Chelsea, and in the league it was probably when that Liverpool fan, Scott Dann, scored for Crystal Palace, when the Champions League ball was in our court, John?

The Palace game when Dominic scored the header, or the Bournemouth game when Doucouré's goal kept us in the Premier League, were unbelievable occasions for all the wrong reasons, whereas that Chelsea game was probably the last time Goodison really bounced for all the right reasons.

Some people crave stability, some people crave respectability, but for me, football has always been about trying to compete and win trophies.

John Collins
96 Posted 05/04/2026 at 22:53:12

Thoughts went back to the great times we had at Wembley.
Still the greatest domestic cup competition in world football for me.

To be fair to the West Ham fans, they were 2-0 down going into injury time.

No one expects them to score two goals.

The West Ham - Leeds Utd game was a great watch, a proper old-fashioned cup tie, end to end, plenty of goals, disallowed goals.

I watched it in the pub; everyone was shouting for the Hammers. A great game -- would've been nice if there was a replay instead of penalties.
