Pundits talking shite... nothing new there! "Well worked goal"...

The ball comes to Rogers and it was almost a speculative shot at goal that the Liverpool goalie should surely have been fave to save. (xG of 0.05 for Rogers in first half).

Annoyingly, BBC Stats don't list expected Saves (xS) for Mamardashvili.

Who the hell watches the rs?
Paul Griffiths
4 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:17:54
Why does Watkins wear that plaster over his eye? Does he think it makes him look cool?
Paul Griffiths
5 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:18:19
I'm watching Villa.
Paul Hewitt
6 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:22:20
Yep. With the rs.

Lovely strike by Barkley and, of course, I transferred Watkins out of my Fantasy team yesterday

Imagine if we were lying in 6th place, thinking if Villa come 5th & win Europa we get Champions League then the RS get hammered and Villa leap above them to finish 4th.. meaning we don't. The RS would be pissing themselves laughing.
Jim Bennings
11 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:46:27
McGinn is a beast.
Jim Bennings
12 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:47:04
9 away defeats for the RS, yet they still win away to us, couldn't make it up lol.
John Collins
13 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:48:11
We were scared of them Jim.
The other 9 weren't.
Paul Griffiths
14 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:48:32
I'm not on my best form today Edward, but that would still mean that we would get into the CL if Villa won in Europe wouldn't it?

4-1. Slot out.

Feck, Watkins gets the assist. That's 16 points I've lost.
Bill Gall
15 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:49:50
Brings tears to your eyes watching Liverpool getting hammered, tears of happiness that is.
Paul Griffiths
16 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:51:25
I don't want McGinn he's too old and slowed down Blah Blah Blah

Big changes over there in the summer - again!. Slotty is toast. Glasner?
Paul Hewitt
17 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:52:02
Edward. If villa finished 4th or 5th it doesn't matter. Champions league would then go to 6th as long as villa win the Europa League.
Paul Griffiths
18 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:53:14
Ross is enjoying this - I mean he had so many victories over them when he was with us.

Virgil does not think much of his comrades does he?

I said that ages ago PH
Edward Rogers
20 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:53:52
Hi Paul,
My understanding ( for what it's worth) is that Villa had to finish 5th & win the Europa for the extra place (6th)
Paul Hewitt
21 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:56:33
Top 5 Edward.
Paul Griffiths
22 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:56:47
Thank God it's over and Watkins cannot get any more points.
Paul Griffiths
23 Posted 15/05/2026 at 21:58:12
I think it's any top 5 position ER, as Paul - jeez we agree - said.

Tony Hughes

Quality player McGinn, creates, assists, scores, runs the game.
And Digne, most assists from a defender this season, pity about him.

There is an article about it on the BBC website. I did start reading it, but I lost the will to live, it's getting late and I'm a bottle of Malbec to the good, so I gave up.
Paul Hewitt
29 Posted 15/05/2026 at 22:07:26
Doesn't really matter. We have messed up finishing 6th.

We will be lucky to get Europe now.
Paul Griffiths
30 Posted 15/05/2026 at 22:11:22
They have Brentford at home last game, Mik,e so it's possible.

Alas, Frieburg have lost more games than they have won this season in the Bundesliga.

He's available and free and the Red Shite hierarchy might see him as a stabilising force.

That's 3 this season. I'm going to be kind here: That is a shocking and inexcusable level of incompetence.

☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ Penalty and VAR, divine intervention is a good thing. Bouncing tonight for the Bhoys. If Marine had won the FA Trophy that would have been some compensation as our season fizzles out.

But the treatment of those big-hearted Hearts players as they made their way back to the coach to just get away after one of theirs was punched after the 'final whistle' - disgraceful, CP should have no fans for the first three games of the new season - was so sad to see. That would not have happened if it was Hibs.

I've been saying for a long while on here that we should be looking very carefully and closely at any Asian lad who plays for Celtic.

Well done the Bhoys. As they go on to be eliminated from Champions League by the champions of Ruritania.

The real game yesterday was at Ochilview were the mighty Stenhousemuir, managed by former blue Gary Naysmith, held on for a tough win over Alloa. At one point a game of football broke out.

It was like the young farmers eleven-a-side tag wrestling night. BBC Alba with a commentary in Scots Gaelic. Marvellous...

Vamonos Stens!
Paul Griffiths
56 Posted 17/05/2026 at 08:00:37
Alan - 55 - brilliant news about Naysmith thanks.

But the ritual diminishing of the Bhoys and Scottish footy is somewhat trite, cliched, and dull mate.

So, Celtic happen to be in Scotland and therefore they play in the Scottish league. Getting into the Champions League year-after-year gives them the valuable money to keep them on top of their domestic league.

The 'Lisbon Lions' ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ were 59 years ago. Today is very different. All but two members of the LL squad were born within 10 miles of Celtic Park. Now, Celtic compete in the CL for money and also for a fair few great nights and the hope of making it to the knock-out stage which is hardly a disaster if they don't.

No need to mock the double winners - again - Bhoys Alan mate. They're doing nicely thank you very much.

Way much better than we are.

Let's face it, nobody other than Celtic fans wanted Celtic to win the league. Hearts winning would have been better for the game in general - it's not like Celtic haven't won it 400 times already.

Scottish football is a joke in my view. The way the league was handed to them via VAR was ridiculous. What is it now, 40 years since anyone other Celtic or Rangers have won the league up there? How is that any good for anyone other than those 2 clubs?

I guess if you follow either club you don't care. Personally I like an underdog, and it would surely create more interest if the league was more competitive.

Had a soft spot for Celtic ever since they stuffed Inter in 1967. I was made up after the way we were cheated by them in 63 - 64.
My point is that on a European stage they underacheive. Rangers are a bloody site worse.

Paul Griffiths
83 Posted 18/05/2026 at 23:16:51
That Havertz non-red card utterly shameful. A brutal tackle with the ball gone.

Unlike more than a few, I believe that this Premier League corruption stuff is silly. But I do believe that referees feel under greater pressure at a key moment to err on the side of the bigger clubs. This is what the clowns at North Wharf Road need to be addressing.

Allowing Havertz to get away with assault was a failure of VAR -- not, erm, 'corruption'. VAR is not up to the job when so many individuals give so many opinions resulting in dreadful inconsistencies.

10/20 VAR officials would have told the ref to give Havertz a red.
Brian Harrison
84 Posted 19/05/2026 at 10:13:44
I see that the Premier League are having a vote by the clubs as to what punishment should be applied for transgressions to PSR, it is being suggested that a fine rather than a points deduction should apply.

It will be very interesting to see how clubs vote, should they go along with the proposal, then the richest clubs will be able to spend what they like knowing they will have to pay for any breaches. But I can't see Newcastle's owners worrying over fines -- they will be able to buy who they like irrespective of any fines.

I just wonder how this will affect teams who qualify for Europe who have their own cap on spending on players. But I am in favour of no restrictions on the limit you can spend on players, this is how football was run for decades.

But I guess it will lead to the same clubs dominating all the competitions... mind, the rich clubs, whoever they have been at the time, have always dominated the Premier League.

I am old enough to remember us dominating the old First Division when, under Sir John Moores, we were known as the Mersey Millionaires.
Tony Abrahams
85 Posted 19/05/2026 at 12:10:57
I haven't seen the incident but I'm sure that the same ref and whoever was the VAR, would have made a completely different decision for certain teams. (And probably will do in the near future.)

It's why they won't let these referees speak (they should definitely be made to answer questions sometimes) because suddenly they would simply have to become a lot more consistent; otherwise, they would suddenly have to start facing huge consequences.

This to me means that there is definitely a level of corruption, Paul. Bias = not completely fair, not completely fair = some teams get away with a lot more than others. This means that the game is not completely straight, and when something is not completely straight, then someone is usually gaining an advantage of something or other!

I put the last 15 minutes on and the behaviour of Arteta is that bad, I almost want him to fail because of it. He gets on my fucking nerves.
John Collins
86 Posted 19/05/2026 at 12:14:39
A dirty, shithouse tackle from behind, Tony.

For me, Arteta is David Moyes with better players.
Tony Abrahams
87 Posted 19/05/2026 at 14:35:35
When you see Michael Keane, getting sent off for grabbing someone's ponytail on the way down from an aerial challenge, while players get away with shithouse tackles, then that's another indication that the game just isn't straight, John.

I saw a quote from ex-ref Mark Halsey recently saying he believed spot fixing from gambling companies, with the exact number of corners, free kicks etc, in each game now...

It was a matter of when, not if, a Premier League referee finds themselves in court on charges.

I'm shocked, I tell you... a league champion whose owner doesn't go to the games!

I keep reading that Delap could be heading to us.

Anyone fancy him?

If we sign Delap god help us can you imagine Delap and Soucek racing forward on the break ? Bet Davey likes that idea

I think he's average Oliver. He'd be someone Jaded Moyes would like as he runs around a lot and works the channels. Doesn't score much. So another reason the manager would like him.

That Tel for Tottenham is shite, any money he has a blinder on Sunday?
Or we let Maddison run the show?

It looks like you have got your wish, Darren, there's going to be fucken hell to play on Seven Sisters Road, if Everton, do the business on Sunday.

Imagine being a Spurs fans right now? Arsenal Champions, with a Champions League final to look forward to, and they're going to be having a few sleepless nights and will be shitting themselves knowing they've got to get at least a draw, against the mighty Everton, on Sunday.

Moyes teamtalk on Sunday, “do it for me boys,West Ham are one of my teams”
Everton lose 3-0
Moyes says he’s “disappointed “… again
Players don’t give a fuck
Rinse and repeat next season.

"I'm shocked, I tell you... a league champion whose owner doesn't go to the games!"

But does fund this seasons spending to near £300 million Mike.
I could not care less if he goes the game, as long as he spends to the absolute maximum rules allow.

Stan Korenke does go to Arsenal games. Only a couple or so each season to be fair, but way more than Saint Daniel the Absent.

I feel sorry for West Ham if they think can we can go to Spurs and win, because it's not going to happen.

He'll pick the same side more or less and that back 4 will give Spurs a comfortable win.

Mind you, I can't see West Ham beating Leeds, they're playing well.

On another note, I hope Arsenal win the Champions League as well now.

I know how much it hurts our loveable neighbours when an English side lifts that.

They'll be seething, and they call us bitter. Yes sure.

I think that Spurs' home record is even worse than ours mate.

My issue with Friedkin isn't whether he attends games.… it's the fact that he backed Roma in January and enabled them to push on from being in a similar position to us on the fringes of European places into the Champions League places.

We get a teenage reserve from Chelsea who has no idea what to do with the ball when he gets anywhere near the penalty area.

He's here to line his pockets — not the club’s.
Paul Griffiths
129 Posted 20/05/2026 at 09:04:51
Was it 5 players in January for Roma Andrew? I believe it was. Saint Daniel-the-Absent has, of course, been to a fair number of Roma games.

Valid question for Mike G. - Saint Daniel-the-Absent goes to Roma games but not ours. Explain?

Andy (126) I understand your reason for being glad that Arsenal have won the title but I would imagine that only Arsenal fans would be happy that they are champions.

I think they will be very unpopular champions by a good majority of neutral football fans — and yes I know Arsenal fans won't give a fuck what neutral fans think.

Me? I wanted neither of them to win.

Yes Andrew, Thanks. It really raises the question mate of what they do in the next window. I'm not saying Moyes out - though that would be my preference, but if he stays this window will be a disappointment because I don't believe on the basis of the last 15 months that Saint Daniel the Absent prioritises our footy side over his dollar side.

Let's hope I'm wrong.

After the last of our Championships we'd won more than Arsenal. Also more than Man U.

It's amazing how badly we've fallen since then. You can rightly blame Heysel up to a point, but this club has been so badly managed in the last three+ decades it defies belief.
Paul Griffiths
135 Posted 20/05/2026 at 09:59:36
Brian mate, nearly 5 decades. It all starts with Thatcher Carter, his meek submission and then support of the 1985 ban, and then his all-in on the Premier League but his and his successors utter failure to mould our club for the new PL culture and reality.

I might despise Carter more than Kenwright but that can change depending on the day.
Martin Farrington
136 Posted 20/05/2026 at 10:21:56
Brian. I was livid at how the club reacted after Heysel.
Carter was chairman and the mixed bag of Moores' family, who were syphoning off money to the RNS towards the end and after JM's life. Other shareholders and the board. All were culpable
Why let such a winning, great team, disintegrate ? The falsehood of European football was a load of cobblers. Only Lineker went anywhere that won anything of importance.
Carter was weak and as much use as a wet fart. Firstly for not fighting the ban for which this wonderful football club had nothing to do with.
His inaction and that of the entire collective mentioned above, were all too busy looking after No1. Not one fought for the club and its supporters. Disgusting. From that day I realised being a supporter of Everton meant nothing, except to my peers.
Carter should have imposed a ban on leaking players.
Rammed home the concept of history
Who looks at Europe and who won what. Not many.
Who looks at the list of league winners as the most important and cherished prize. The vast majority.
Today, how many younger blues fans look at that period of English league winners trophies and say to themselves "oh those were the Heysel Years. That doesnt count".
Or the few that look back at the list of european (or whatever its new name is) winners and say, "Oh those were the heysel years. English clubs were banned. That means nothing". NO ONE.
I think I was probably amongst the very few that could never forgive Carter, Moores family, the bored et al. Cowards. The lot of them.
How many clubs remained big and strong in the English League One / Premier League.
What did we become. A bit part. Not even in the shadow of the club that caused this shit in the first place.
We all know the shitshow that those in charge have created since. (I wont mention RNS repeat of history later).
I can never forgive any of those responsible for dragging the club to the bottom. And there are many. From a winning positive era, where a dynasty could easily have been created, they gave it up for nothing. Threw it away. Didnt want to challange or fight for the Blue shirt, its team and supporters. Criminal

Martin#136 Great post, and we never got to see what our best ever manager and team could have achieved, they just walked away dejected. Why the club didn't fight it, excuse the pun, was criminal, like the Heysel

I knew Arsenal were champions, within ten minutes of putting that game on around the twenty five minute, mark last night.

Fuck Arsenal, fuck City, fuck everyone but it was clear to me that City’s players were physically and mentally shattered (except Haarland) and you don’t win anything with tired players.

Everton, don’t owe anyone anything but remembering the effort that both Palace and Bournemouth, put into the games against us that could have sent us down, then I just hope Moyes, picks our freshest players on Sunday.

Tony,

Spurs will be panicking with 2 home wins in the league all season, but fear not.

When they see Keane and Tarkowski on the first team sheet before kick-off, they will realise that they’ll be just fine.
