The World Cup gets ever nearer and the diet of International friendlies is out there for those who want to tuck in as teams go through their preparations.

On the menu tonight:

Tuesday 2 June 2026
17:00 Croatia v Belgium — Amazon Prime PPV
19:45 Wales v Ghana — BBC Three

Some prospective Everton interest in the Wales side, with Neco Williams starting at #3, while former Everton player Nathan Broadhead (#23) is on the bench, along with Tom King (#21), Everton's second reserve keeper.

Some very recognisable names in the Ghana side too.

Some great chances for Wales, Dan James creating chances, a tremendous header that the Ghana keeper, Zigi (great name!) saved superbly onto the post, before James then smacked a shot onto the bar.

Neco Williams has been quite impressive, decent in defence, busy in the middle, linking well with Broadhead, and putting in some great crosses, especially the last one in for Lewis Koumas in added time that got a creditable draw for Wales.

Michael, what is the connection between Neco Williams and Everton? Genuine question.

Ajay I think we have made a minor enquiry about him. Rumour mill stuff perhaps

Watching the speed at which Ghana counter attacked last night I can't wait to see the athlete that is Dan Burn facing up to them at the World Cup.

Especially when Williams and Semenyo will be in from the start.

Disappointing to see Thomas Partey in their squad though.

That's one thing that was striking watching the individual players, Andrew, was how physically present and strong many of the Ghanaian players were.

While the nippy little Wales lads were mostly small and skinny in comparison. (Well, with the glaring exception of Neville Southall's immense bulk spread across three seats of the virtually empty Cardiff City Stadium.)

Sadly, that physical disadvantage makes it that bit harder for them. It shouldn't -- it should all be down to football skill.

But we know it isn't.

I was looking at the Ghana players thinking what extraordinary athleticism and pace they have and then reflecting two of our best players are African too although Ndiaye didn't play that well for Senegal the other day.

Maybe a bit more scouting in Africa might produce dividends.

Thing is with players like Semenyo and Williams, Michael, is that they are big, strong, fast and skilful.

We forget players like that exist sometimes.

Well, despite Braiden Graham being named in the senior squad for Northern Ireland (along with Justin Clarke), neither of these young Everton players got a sniff in the friendly against Guinea.

That was even with 10 of the squad getting a run-out as substitutes. They were the only two that didn't play. Although former Everton player Issac Price did play and set up the only goal of the game.
