Happy New Year to one and all!

Apparently, Phil Brown is asking questions about the U-turn relating to the last-gasp penalty incident in Hull's encounter with Aston Villa.

It seems he believes that someone or something outside of the sanctioned officials was responsible for the ref's change of mind.

Having witnessed the big decisions at Goodison versus Chelsea it does beg the question has the third eye been employed for Live Sky games.

Now, I'm all for anything which helps ascertain the correct outcome including the use of modern technology. However, if it is only being used selectively and without the knowledge of the particpants and viewers I would question its use.

Given that the major decisons in both games turned out to be the correct ones then perhaps, it proves that the NEW system works.

At least Steve Bennent got that one right. I was more perplexed by the goal he chalked off earlier when Friedel had collided with the Hull attacker. Anyway, I?m sure the assistant referee had a word over the headset with Mr Bennent and when everything calmed down he went over and asked him about the ball over the bar. Phil Brown should be more concerned why his team never put the ball in the net during the other parts of the match because Villa was there for the taking. And it should also go as a warning for the Toffees to watch out for Hull in a fortnight?s time.

In my opinion, Phil Brown is starting to embarrass himself now. His team were unlucky to lose the game and he probably feels aggrieved, but how can so much chaos be caused by the referee making the correct decision FFS?

So Steve Bennett initially thought it was a penalty, well it must have looked like one in real time from his position. What was Ashley Young doing putting his hand up? I have a feeling that he would have used his hand if the ball hadn?t been going over. Regardless, the ref blew the whistle when the ball was already dead so Hull were not prevented from continuing, and after discussion with his assistant he made the correct decision. Isn?t that what everybody wants?

This whole fiasco is ridiculous and stems from everything that is wrong with the attitude in the game towards referees. We can even find something to moan about when they get it right. I was also disappointed to see Agbonlahor wagging his finger at and berating the referee after he had eventually given the goal kick. That shows a total lack of respect in my book.

Steve Bennett is often over officious and petty, but there will be plenty of occasions in the future when he gets it wrong I?m sure, so we can have a go at him then, not when he gets it right.
