Christophe Berra

By all accounts this guy is special & very highly regarded by many astute people in the game. Good stuff.

Now, I wondered why we were being associated with (apparently) one of the finest young central defenders in Europe. I also wondered if it was connected with the public musings of Man City towards Lescott.

If we got Berra then we'd have him, Jobo, Lescott & Jags. All excellent, but only two can really play (assuming LB gets the chance he deserves as our best left back).

So yes, he could be one for the future. Bit he's playing regularly and about to break into the full Scottish team at a young age. Sitting on the bench wouldn't seem a good move.

From what I've read & seen of the guy, I say come on down young man & welcome. But I wonder if it means offloading one of the other guys. If we make £10m on the transaction then I guess we should look at it. After all, that's what Arsenal do.

Anyone else put 2 & 2 together to get 3?

Hearts are ment to be struggling for money (worse than us!) so if we can get him on the cheap it would be good business. We only need 2 injuries or suspensions at centre back and we are short. Just look at what happened with the strikers, 4 out at the same time. He would have to come and bide his time like Jags did last season and take his chance if he gets it.

I don’t know why I bothered to type all of that because we won’t sign him anyway!

If Everton have any ambition whatsoever to break the top four monopoly then we need to sign such players as well as keeping the creme of what we already have.

When United brought Vidic in, I didn?t see them offering Ferdinand and Brown out to clubs, did you?

Sorry, totally off the subject. I have just seen the Redshites manager making a total tit of himself. I would put it ahead of Del boy falling through the bar. At the end I thought he was going to finish by saying "I'd love it if we beat them, love it" How the fuck Fergie does it I will never know. Sorry ? carry on with the subject in hand. Absolute classic.

Working in Scotland and he is highly rated and supposedly be going to one of the old firm. Worth buying as long as we don't sell.

Kev, if Hearts are struggling for money why would they let him go on the cheap? They’d be asking top whack for him if he’s their only marketable asset.

As I?ve said before:

This ain?t gonna happen if he?s not injured. Moyes is only interested in players (sic) who are injured, half-injured, those with a very long history of injuries or those who are dead but would have been injured anyway. Sorry mate.

The reason Moyes does that Stephen is because those injured players are cheap and we have fuck all money.

Hearts dont get the enormous sky payment we do so their financial situation is more like a league 1 club...2 or 3 million is a lot to them. Their owners companies and bank have been badly affected by the current financial situation.

I'm no Hearts fan but Berra is excellent for them consistently, reads the game very well, and (critically for the Premier League) is quick.

If he was in the Championship playing as he does, he would cost double what he will sell for from the SPL. The SPL takes a lot of flack and mostly deserved from English football media and fans but there are young players worth a look.
