Benitez Babes Start Work Early

Comments (30)

Everton thug Tim Cahill should be role model, says Hull boss Phil Brown ? This is the headline that Mr Nixon uses in today's Daily Mirror.

Now Tim Cahill is a lot of things... Tenacious... Gritty... Skilful... Artful... But a thug? NO!

Perhaps Mr Nixon should look at what a real thug does, like beating up people outside a McDonalds or attempting to re-arrange a DJ's good looks (allegedly).

The Daily Mirror owns and runs the Liverpool Echo.... so stand by for some more Evertonian Assasinations in the coming week. If I was Moyes I would refuse all press conferences and interviews with our players until Monday 26th Jan and leave the gutter press to make up their own stories and headlines. They can then join MOTD in their ritual of LFC worship and leave us to our own devices.

Alan Nixon actually called Cahill a warhorse, not a thug. A sub editor writes the headlines. Nixon I believe may actually have pro Everton leanings. It is actually Phil Brown who accuses Cahill of ?assaulting? two of his players. Let's be honest, if Tim played for anyone else we would hate him.

I thought we were the bitters? Are we upsetting people? I used to be a Chang man but I’m ordering a pint of ’Best Benitez Bitter’ these days. The taste is a bit sour but I get a brilliant dose of the giggles.

So I suppose it’ll be a Benitez and Brown ale for me after the derbies!

So that?s ok then is it? It's not the journalist's fault and it is some nameless sub-editor's responsibilty. So when the guys at the FA send out instructions or the Derby Ref sees that Sub Headline and makes a mental note, Cahill is booked or worse we?ll all say oh well!
By the way, the definition of a thug reads ?a violent and uncouth man especially a criminal? so whoever coined the term has blighted Tim?s name.

I am with Gareth on this one too, if Cahill was playing against us I would despise him. He is a niggly, bordering on dirty, player that winds up the opposition then scores goals.

From what I have read, Brown called the team ?streetwise?. He then went on to say that we never done things by cheating, but used all the little tricks, to win free-kicks etc. That is also what he said about Cahill, he used every trick in the book to win free-kicks, and also refered to him as ?streetwise?.

I find young Wayne rather an ’uncouth’ boy.

With his Chimpy gait and his perfect cube napper

Strangely, when decisions go against him or Utd, he seems to get away with telling everyone to "fuggooffuggofffuggoff!!"

Against Chelsea he could/should have been booked 3 times before he was booked....but wasn’t.

It’s almost as if Signor Rafa Patatas Cabeza has a point.

Except he doesn’t coz....he’s a smacked-arse faced whining twat.

I think he got the the wrong Cahill; I have heard his brother is a bit of a thug? Brown hasn't got a leg to stand on ? did you see what he had on for the match? He should be sectioned for that dress sense.

Brian, it?s funny that Phil Brown thinks we are ?streetwise? and ?used every trick in the book?, as I often watch us and think we should do more of the ?influencing? that teams like LFC, Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and latterly, Villa are implementing.

If you can?t beat ?em............

One thing we don’t have to be part of as we’re not in the top 4 is all the bullshit mind games that goes on in the press.
I don’t think DM would want to get involved and as the players dont have the top 4 egos then they wouldnt care.

@ Sid Brewer

With a surname like that your comment can only be described as a "classic" and Brian as in streetwise we only have to look at the Drogba from Chelsea to understand the term "streetwise".

Thank you, EJ. Wayne Rooney is a fine player and good luck to him. But.... class, well, he hasn?t really ever heard of it. Benitez? Same applies. Kevin Chung has a point.

I had to laugh reading Brown's comments as he has learned all the sneaky tricks in the book off Big Sam, as his limited team showed. Including Cahill getting booked for colliding with their 'keeper after a Hull player pushed him into him. I do agree with earlier posters, Cahill is a player that I would dislike if he was at another club but he?s not he?s at our club and loves it and I for one will back him for the passion he shows towards Everton.

Cahill is no thug and every fan of other teams I know, rates him highly and would love to have him at their Club.

One other thing, Rafa is absolutely spot on about Ferguson. Shame though that he did not mention Arsene ’ I did not see it’ Wenger, Mourinho and, of course, HIMSELF. After his remarks after the last 2 Anfield Derbies that he got away with both times, I would conclude that the man is a fucking hypocrite!

Tim reminds me of Alan Ball, tapping ankles, winding the opposition up, making life difficult for them. Who, me Ref? He is always on the edge of legality. But he takes what he gives out. I love him.

I’ve not seen The Mirror today, but if what I read here is correct, then EFC’s lawyers should be in contact with them to find out why they are calling Tim Cahill a ’thug’ and to be prepared to justify that in court. A grovelling withdrawl given front or back page prominence might be acceptable.

As for the pathetic whinings of the el gordo, you have to wonder who is advising him. I hope he keeps digging the hole.

I believe that Phil Brown?s comments were actually meant as a backhanded compliment to Cahill. I would hate to play against the niggly bastard who winds the opposition up to the point that they lose self discipline. Who does that remind me of? Why Kevin Davies of course. No I think Brown was actually recognising Cahill for what he is and saying that Hull could do with someone like him. Brown appears an honest guy from what I?ve seen ? says things like he sees them... a bit like Moyes in fact.

Cahill - A thug?!? Don't make me laugh... he is just as hard as nails with an ice cool attitude. He is not a petulant little fucker like so many of the so-called hard players in the Premier League.

Karl, thats the problem I had with Benitez?s comments. Not that he was wrong about Freguson, but the unbelievable hypocrisy he shows. I don't think I?ve ever hated anything to do with that club more than I hate Benitez.

As for Cahill, well he outmuscled two 6ft-plus centre-halves who, along with the rest of the team, arrived with the intention of roughing us up, and got back more than they bargained for.

What a joke, Pot / kettle and all that. Hull were by far the dirtiest team I have witnessed at Goodison since Alladyce was in charge of Bolton. Does anyone have any match stats on how many fouls they committed during the 90 minutes? Hull also had 5 men booked which means they have to pay a fine to the FA (this should have been far more had the ref had some idea of how to ref).

I have honestly not seen a team offer so little to a game as Hull did on Saturday. Which part of Hull del sol does Brown live to get that tan? Fucking idiot.

I think it was Kissinger who said something along the lines of "He may be a bastard, but he’s OUR bastard" (in reference to a third-world dictator and not the world’s most famous Samoan).

I may be wrong but I’d have to say a lot of Tim’s style is a result of his Samoan heritage (and love of physicality) and having spent his formative footballing years at Milwall with such luminaries as Kevin Muscat.

My dad used to play in the reserves for a local team way back in the 60s. He?s seen them all: chest-high tackles with 6 studs implanted in the chest and players hospitalized for months. According to him, Cahill is one of the dirtiest players in the league. Yeah, but he?s our dirty bastard.

I have not bought a newspaper for over 4 years now. Why would anyone with access to a computer/internet and a brain that enables him to dress himself read these pieces of garbage.

Just a look at mediawatch on Football 365 among many, many other websites that show these idiots for what they are!

They can't insult your intelligence, or get you riled up by the bollocks they print, if you dont read them!

The old Leeds team who played under Don Revie were the dirtiest team I ever saw with Jordan, Bremner, Clarke and Giles plus Hunter..they would make todays players look like cissies..Fellaini is a big clumsy oaf who cannot tackle...now Dunc...there was a dirty player !! Cahill is artful and very similar to Giles and Ball in his niggling..

I have to agree with the BBC sentiment. Fellaini?s elbow on a guy tugging his shirt in the penalty area was used to excuse the yellow card. This only showed a clear penalty for EFC (shirt pulling and holding down an opponent) not given by the ref. However, the BBC did not mention this minor detail. I was also appalled that Arteta?s goal v Sunderland was overlooked but Keane had two goals nominated for Goal of the Month. Bitter Blue or not, it's the Biased Broadcasting Company.
