Kirkby item on Radio 4
Comments (14)
Radio 4's "You and Yours" has just done a segment today on the Blues proposed move to Kirkby. There was no mention of Bill Kenwright or Warren Bradley and since most of us have to rely on coverage from the OS or the Echo, it made a nice little listen. You should be able to catch it later on the iPlayer or from the "You and Yours" website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/youandyours/

"She didn?t get a vote."
?She? is Sheena Ramsey, the CEO of Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council.
Scary stuff.
After the Kings Dock fiasco and our "exclusivity agreement" with KMBC for the DK move, can you blame them?
As a matter of balance, I think it is also worth pointing out that the ?LCC representitive? informed the Inquiry that "EFC were only prepared to look at sites with a potential for £50M retail enabling, none of which are available in the city ? although LCC would work with the club if a Plan B was brought to the table."
EFC making impossible demands of the local authority in order to strengthen their case of relocating to a retail park on the edge of a small town in Knowsley. ? ?Unbelievable and sad stuff.?
Another thing is that representatives of both the CAO and LCC have faced the inspector and told her that the DK package if approved will be a great thing for Kirkby (one in the eye for KRAG) and that Liverpool City Centre and Liverpool One will hardly be affected by it at all (one in the eye for Grosvenor). I feel angry how LCC have let us down.
"EFC were only prepared to look at sites with a potential for £50M retail enabling, none of which are available in the city."
This can not be misinterpreted, it is as clear as day. I believe ’burning bridges’ is an apt analogy. Despite this, and again on record at the Inquiry, it has been stated;
"LCC would work with the club if a Plan B was brought to the table."
IF Kirkby fails, I can’t imagine that Robert Elstone will be approaching LCC and still demanding only a site that would include £50M retail enabling, can you?
(That’s a rhetorical question ’Dave’). So you may well be ’angry how LCC have let us down’ but it’s an ’anger’ being projected in the wrong direction.
Also, can you point me in the direction of the ’great thing for Kirkby’ quotes from the CAO and LCC representatives? And while you are there, could you also highlight the ’sharp shift in favour of the scheme in the last week?’
And finally ’Dave.’ Your ’one in the eye’ jibe in regards to KRAG not only shows your level of knowledge of the issues surrounding ’DK’ to be at best superficial, it also shows a disregard and lack of respect to the very people who would be your ’host’ if Kirkby Stadium were ever to be built. Or maybe you aren’t aware that the ’R’ in KRAG stands for ’Residents,’ that is people who would actually have to live with a huge retail park and a 50,000 capacity football stadium on their doorsteps, something, judging by the time and effort they have put in to fighting against ’DK,’ they obviously feel is not such ’a great thing for Kirkby.’
Inquiry Day 23: Mark "Calamity" McVicar appearing as a witness of LCC "admitted that the new retail development in Kirkby would not significantly impact upon either Liverpool City Centre or Liverpool One" (One in the eye for Grosvenor that Wendy will have noted.)
Inquiry Day 24: The aptly named Mr Nutter appearing as a witness of the CAO "did not think Liverpool One would be affected by the Kirkby development" (Another one in the eye for Grosvenor that Wendy will have noted.)
Inquiry Day 22: Mr Burchnall of LCC agreed with Patrick Clarkson QC (TEV) that LCC leader "Bradley had attended meetings of KEIOC and had continued to make suggestions about alternative sites for a new Everton stadium within Liverpool". Mr Burchnall said THIS WAS NOT THE POSITION OF LCC ? however "individual members were entitled to make their feelings known". (Hmmm...)
And there?s more...
Inquiry Day 22: Mr Burchnall of LCC agreed under cross examination from Mr Barratt (KMBC) that "LCC had not suggested there was a readily available, alternative site for Everton Football Club". (Hmmm...)
The things people are forced to spout out when put under severe pressure. These statements get noted by the inspector and can get used later in the inquiry against (in this case) an already half-hearted Grosvenor.
As to KRAG ?Neil?, in your own little cyber world, they represent everyone in Kirkby; in my real world and the world of local election results, they have been proved to be a small minority of residents.
I can't wait for the laughter when KEIOC present TEV?s QC and the inspector with the gift of the suggestion of one their "better" and as usual uncosted alternatives to Kirkby.... BIRKENHEAD Town Centre ? yes, I repeat, BIRKENHEAD ? you know "that part of the city" called "Birkenhead" LOL!!!!
I?m sure ?Neil? will be back to put out the fires... whether I want to waste any more of my time is another matter!
LCC... er I mean an individual Cllr saying one thing to raise me hopes and then THE Liverpool City Council experts as an organisation saying another to dampen my dreams, utterly disgraceful.
... Okidoke. :(
Oh dear. I don’t know what is more laughable, you taking the name of an Everton legend in vain, or you being rumbled (for the umpteenth time) again.
Using a different name for every Everton forum is embarrasing enough but using a different name for every different thread on the same forum is bordering on fanaticism.
You strange little person.

Well lovie, that might have something to do with three Metro stations within walking distance, a mainline train station, a bloody big bus station at the Haymarket and about 250 pubs to choose from within a couple of square miles...
You couldn?t make it up.
