Anfield Trouble...

Comments (16)

Should we draw comfort from the goings on at Anfield at the moment?

Rafa has refused a contract, amazingly declared open warfare in the media with someone who knows how to play it like no other, Stevie G has prison to consider and with Monday fast approaching, Man Utd should have toppled their topping of the table.

To any other club, this could be a tricky time... but jeez they are such a self-righteous bunch, it probably won't affect them one bit. We'll just have to rely 100% our game then.

Two wins to the blues. Just imagine who we could get on loan once that reverberates around Europe... Maybe someone we've heared of!

No I don’t think so, lets have a bit of class and forget the RS and only worry about Everton. Worring about them only makes us sound bitter. However as always you can fuckin’ hate them!!

Talking of bitter, when is Villa?s luck going to run out???!!!

Once again today they get a dodgy decision for the penalty and then get away scott free when Sunderland should have one!!!

Remind you of anyone??

Mark,

I think you?ll be more upset tonight; I heard on talk sport that Milner definitely knocked Villa's equaliser in with his hand.

I heard a really loud crash after that - think it was the sound of Alan Kirwin's radio landing on his patio.

Nick,

Knowing the shite, all the problems they have won't bother them at al; as you say we?ll just have to do it on merit.

Villa are doing my head in! I honestly think we?re better than them; they?re just having one of those seasons were everything goes their way.

Anyway, the game on Monday just goteven bigger: Liverpool need a win to get back on top and we need a win to have any chance of catching Villa. I just wish we were at full strength. I?m getting nervous already!

It's a distraction to Liverpool which they could well do without. Everton meanwhile have had time to focus on one thing ?- winning the match. At the end of the day, we will still have to play very well and have a fair bit of luck to get anything but I welcome any negative stories coming out of Anfield and gladly take any competitive edge. Makes a pleasant change from Kirkby, injuries, suspensions etc.

Seems to me that we tend to do better against the shite playing in the week at night... maybe statistically I am wrong, but weren?t those great 90s wins under Royle in midweek?

I think Gerrard will be up for it regardless; let's hope he and Torres slip over on a pile of bird shit in the 5th minute and go off all embarrassed!

Aston Vila are becoming the next luck EFC - since our last game with them the luck they have had is unbelievable. They continue to get this luck & they will be undeserved title contenders at this rate ? a punched in goal & a pen outside the box & AS on MOTD stated it was out the box but then he was fouled inside but the rules state the first challenge counts ? so called expert AS is crap!

What a load of whinging sour grapes. Our biggest problems lie in lacking ambition at the top and that is where the blame should lie... We have a desperately thin squad and it will be in trouble if we do not strengthen during January, what with Injuries, suspensions and fatigue, I can see another burn out because we lack numbers. We are paying money to crocks and deadwood and other teams are showing some movement to bolster their playing staff with people who are fit and known.

I reckon the two derby games are creating a smokescreen to divert the fans' thoughts away from the real priorities, which are more squad members who are FIT!!

Yobo has not played even a reserve game and he is mentioned as an option, that's how threadbare we are...

Saint Steven will not be worrying about going to prison. For the offence he has committed, he?ll probably get a caution and an opportunity to serve the community in some way. He?s pleaded guilty and as a first offence for a Section 20, it will not warrant a custodial sentence ? unfortunately!!!! Let?s hope there?s some juicy bit of something that no one knows about will come out in court that will wipe the smug grin off his face!

Hey Joey, Alan Shearer is fast becoming the most ridiculous pundit in football history: ?the foul continued into the box so I believe it was a penalty?.

Would it really have taken much from one of the other old boys network to say... "What the fucking hell are you talking about? "

Presumably MotD are so biased towards Villa because O?Neill was one of their mates as a pundit?

Shearer was embarrassing last night. The stupid comment about the penalty, and then completely ignoring Sunderland?s two (pretty good) handball penalty claims ? and topping it off with saying how wonderful Villa were when they had just been played off the park (again), and this time by relegation fighters.

Only Liverpool can have the luck that Villa are currently having. I can?t remember anything quite like it in recent years. Unless they too have formed a pact with the devil, it has to end soon.

I turn the sound off when O?Neill comes on ? I can't stand listening to him bleating on. Drives me nuts.

I hope Man Utd win the league.

Benitez Resigns! Yes, this is the headline I can see on the Echo after two glorious Derby victories for Everton. Albeit the second victory may come via a replay at Goodison (Fellaini winner back after ban, in off the 'fro) but then we really may see history repeated and a RS manager resigns after being defeated by the Blues.

This is building up to a monumental period in the recent history of our beloved football club ? could it be that we are two/three games away from dismantling their title 'challenge', knocking them out of the Cup and seeing their manager leave 'by mutual consent'? Can you imagine the presssure on Manuel if he loses these next two games from all quarters?

Not as far fetched a concept as some may think.... I hope Benitez has a comfy seat tomorrow as I can see those old kidney stones getting a little unruly over the course of the next week.....

Trevor, give it a rest, we?re 6th in the league and in pretty decent form... if that's deadwood I?ll play them every week!

Lue... the main witness against StevieGbh crashed his car over the weekend on a straight road with no other vehicles involved... hmmmm.
