First of all I want to say that I feel privileged to have attended last night's game. The lads played their hearts out almost to a man and did us proud. With Fellaini in the team I reckon we would have won.

Now for the crux of the letter. Our supporters were superb, singing throughout the whole night ? we put the RS to shame. Anfield was a library. However, do we really need to sing about Gerrard's private life? I don't like the way he plays sometimes and his dives and attempts to get fellow professionals sent off is reprehensible but he (his wife and his kid) doesn't deserve some of the vile chants we now seem to propagate at every Derby game.

Whilst I am at it, I thought racism at EFC games had disappeared but no, some goon decided to shout about 'Niggers'. I told him to behave, as did one or two other decent blues (and you know who you are) but he looked at me although I had asked to borrow fifty quid off him. He genuinely looked hurt and didn't seem to understand why he was berated.

There is no place for this anymore. FFS we have several players who are of African decent and not one of them deserves to hear this crap.

This "city is all ours" nonsense... Could someone explain what this bullshit chant was all about? Is it a sneaky reference to Kirkby or is it just 'pool fans being 'pool fans.. Seen a few t-shirts with it as well. Who do they bleedin think they are. And if you know your history..

I agree, can't we get back to being funny or is that beyond the wit of some people? Just putting others down does us no credit.

Whatever Evertonians chant about Gerrard, it has already been in the paper. What of the RS chants to Neville (about his daughter) last year? He was punched and spat at, yet a chant is worse? I think not.

I could live on Gerrards salary and put up with a few chants as recompence.

As for racism, Ive not seen a decline in my time at Goodie and it riles me. Ive posted on the subject before, and praise to toffeeweb for hosting such topics. How do we rid it? Price em out? We already moan of the cost. Education? Well, try. How do you educated a piece of stone? I blame the parents.

Well done Russ - it takes bottle to speak out and it is by far the most likely way of getting rid of this offensive behaviour. As we were supposed to be under police surveillance for inappropriate words, did none of them show any interest?

I guess that ’the city is all ours’ thing must refer to them copyrighting the Liver Bird. Did they manage to do that?

Racism is in society and as football fans come from a cross section of that society, it should surprise no-one that there will be some at the match who are racist. That said, we should not accept it; we should speak up at every opportunity and, eventually, we may weed these low lifes out.

By the way the RS, sing ?the city?s all ours, fuck off to Kirkby, the city?s all ours? - fairly clear what they are referring to. I for one can?t fault the geographical accuracy, but I don?t want to start all that debate again.

Racism is despicable. Where were the "zero tolerance" police when this low life was spouting this crap ? Well done for ticking the idiot off, but you needed to go a step further and report him to the nearest police officer who was probably too busy listening out for anti Stevie ’me laa’ chants. Not condoning the latter but the priorities are all wrong.

All of us on here will no doubt agree that this behaviour was out of order. Unfortunately, the morons that sing these songs don’t come on here. It is too intelligent for them. They think they are doing us a service by singing such songs, when in reality they are doing us a dis-service.

It was originally on our crest in the very early days i bet the rs gobshites didnt know this after all they arent the brightest of fans (badgeman for example) COYB lets go one step further on Sunday and knock them out of the cup! 33/1 to win it i fancy us to do just that!

Personally don’t see anything wrong with the Gerrards going down song, thought that was quite funny, and felt no shame in joining in that one (nd before peopl starts i did also sing about the blues). However the baby’s not yours one really is just boring now if anything, maybe funny when first was belted out but now its getting very old.

Regards racism while its great that people told the idiot to shutup, lets not make a massive deal where there isnt any, yes some people may be racist, you are never going to stop that, but its not as if you hear hundreds of people joining in racist chanting. Therefore it leads me to believe it is only the odd one who pipes up after a few too many.

How witty we scousers are
If the kopites want to sink to gutter level let them, we have to show more class, chants like "The babys not yours" and "going down, going down" or "fat little knobhead" are painfully embarrassing
We all complain about Evertons media coverage but chants like this hardly endear us, they make us look spiteful and malicious.
Rooney and Gerrard are scousers, they grew up on the same streets as most of the people chanting this shite, they are of the same ilk and you can rest assured they will both bite back. Has anyone else noticed they both keep scoring ?
Those who choose to "put these two off their game" should ask themselves, are these offensive chants actually counter productive ?

Good post Russ and well done for making a stand, only by showing the ignorant that racism is unacceptable can we rid ourselves completely

Exactly - your mate is still Chinese so Gerrard being born in Knowlsley does not make him a scouser - Knowsley is not Liverpool!!

Good post Russ. If we could make the morons see what morons they look and sound, maybe it could be stopped. Trouble is being morons they’re incapable of understanding how stupid they appear to most of us. A small minority they may be but unfortunately, as the old saying goes, empty vessels make the most sound.

Ste Baines,

I think you should drop that argument mate.

Nobody refers to themselves as being from Knowsley. The only difference between Knowsley and Liverpool is the colour of the wheelie bins.

I’m from Huyton which is in the Knowsley council boundary, but if you think im not a scouser than you are an idiot.

Well done Russ for pulling up the total prick shouting the racist nonsense.

Not easy and ALWAYS much easier to do/say nothing.

The reality is though, clubs and stewards have shown they haven’t got the nerve/power/inclination..whatever, so it really IS up to us.

Think about it

The reason you in Huyton have a different coloured wheelie-bin is that you are in a different Council to those people who live in Liverpool.

As the definition of being a scouser is being born in Liverpool then I would suggest being born outside Liverpool boundary does not make you a scouser .

Not sure what it does make you but a scouser you ain’t!!

What if you speak with a SCOUSE accent? That makes you scouse surely? What if you were born in a Liverpool City Council hospital but live in Huyton? What if you live in Huyon and then move to Woolton? Do you become a scouser by moving into an area with purple bins? What if you live in an area with purple bins and move to Huyton ? do you then stop being a scouser?.....

Please think about what you?re writing.

The chinaman who served Dave Wilson his char sui the other night is still a chinaman even though he lives in Old Swan.

Same principle if you were born in Liverpool and moved to Huyton then you are scouse but the opposite doesn?t apply ? being born in Huyton (or anywhere outside Liverpool) and then moving to Liverpool does not make you scouse

I can do a fair Scottish accent but that doesnt make me a Scot!! Please think about what you are writing!!

What about those like me who were born in Liverpool yet don't want to be called a scouser??? I hate the word and all the conotations that go with it... I'll happily leave the "I'm a scouser" claims to Cilla, Tarby, Boardman et al along with the sponging, bleeding hearts who think Liverpool is the centre of the universe and the world owes them a living.
