How long will Arteta be out for?

Comments (36)

Do any of my fellow Evertonians know for how long Arteta is believed to be unable to play for us??? I have been to pretty much every site I could think of to get some more info on his bruised rib, but very little information seems to be available. Also, I read 12 different things on Saha's injury and the duration thereof; will either be back to face the shite at Goodison?

Cheers, COYB

Have heard from a few fellas in work (both Redshites and Blues) that Arteta missed the game because he had a fight in training with Hibbert who digged him good and proper in the ribs, flooring him. Not seen anything on here about this, but just wanted to see if any one else had heard anything.

This has been bugging me since Sunday. I don't know if anyone has touched on it, so apologies if they have. I was incensed by that cheating, diving gobshite, Mascherano !

The way he went down and then waved his hand at Bennett in an attempt to get Cahill a second yellow riled me to the point of committing murder. The spineless bastard Bennett should have booked the little twat. The even more spineless FA should ban the horrible bastard for cheating. That's that off me chest anway. Let's have the bastards in the replay.

Moyes has said in interview after the RS games that Arteta and Felliani will come back in straight away and that Saha is back in for next week. >Does anyone seriously believe the ?Hibbert twatted him? ?grassy knoll? conspiracy theory??!

Given the importance of team spirit and unity (and the availability of Yobo) Moyes would surely have dropped and fined Hibbo for anything so out of order. Particularly if you get an idea of Hibbo?s nature and massive regard for our great club, such as through the interviews on EvertonTV, you?d also know he is not a fucking knobhead that would twat our best player, FFS!

Michael Hunt,

Moyes said that in an interview after the FA Cup game against the shite? I must have missed that. If he is only partially fit, I would rather rest him and not play him against Le Arse. The 3rd games vs the shite is all that matters as far as I am concerned. Benitez you fucking arrogant prick. Bring me a menu, I hear the appetizers are good!

Matthew, I think it was in the interview on the BBC Sport site. I would not rest Mikel, all the games are crucial, Arsenal especially in terms of realistically competing for the same league positions between 3rd-6th.

Man Utd away is obviously tough, but with their massive injury problems I think we have a real chance and I?d not be surprised with a win, draw or a loss to be honest. I think we play Arse at home a day after they play WBA, so receovery time may be more on their side than ours.

Still, we have reason to be optimistic. COYB

Heard from well versed people within the camp that the Hibbert story is total rubbish. Moyes is the boss here and if it would have happened, Hibbert wouldn't have even made the bench. Redshite mischief if you ask me, jealous of our team spirit.

Matthew, it was on the Guardian site yesterday. Moyes is quoted as saying: "There?s a chance Mikel will be back to face Arsenal on Wednesday. (...) And next time around (against RS) Arteta and Fellaini will both be back. Saha maybe, too."

Nick Owens, Apparently, Mikel was injured against Hull and aggravated the injury in training. Why we pay any attention to shite rumours like that is beyond me. If you remember, we had some numpty banging on about Speed shagging Ratcliffe?s missus which is why he left. Absolute garbage.

I agree that Mascherano should’ve been booked for that. If not for the dive itself then certainly for the waving of the hand. It is blatant cheating on two counts! Maradona is obviously having an effect on him.

We have to beat Arsenal. I would be more tempted to rest Arteta at Old Trafford. If anywhere is going to be a backs-aginast-the-wall in job it is there. I will be in the United end for it, but I don’t anticipate seeing much in the way of attacking football from Everton. If there is any doubt that he can play all 3 matches then I would rest Arteta for that one and go all guns to get ourselves in with a shout of 4th spot with a win against the Arse and then put a team out to beat Liverpool, especially bearing in mind O’Neill’s poor record n the FA Cup. If we beat Liverpool we have a great chance to get through to the QFs and get revenge for the alarmingly one-sided 3-2 defeat at home to Villa.

With Arteta injured, Anichebe limping off, Pienaar and Lescott one booking away from a suspension, Cahill 2 bookings away from a suspension, and less than 1 week to go of the transfer window, does anyone hold any hope of us signing anyone?

Is Kenwright that short-sighted?

Alan Clarke... you are spot on and have echoed what I have been going on about all month. Fellaini is also likely to be suspended again too before the season is out. This month will be so very competitive with Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd... we are sure to pick up more bookings and possible injuries.

I think the one word that is missing from our club motto is AMBITION. I cannot believe that we have no money at all... we have more revenue coming in than most other clubs and yet every club is active and we are not!!

We are supposed to be looking for loans and now Saviola is bracketed with Pompey for a loan target. The players we have are ?heroic? in their efforts but they need adequate reinforcements of QUALITY... Arteta, Fellaini, Howard and Cahill have no decent replacements and every other club have plenty. Even Villa are showing bags of ambition and are striving to get a Champions League spot. Surely we can raise a miserly £5 mill to get at least two reasonable acquisitions.

We are not far off ?pawning? the family silver at this rate... unfortunately I can see our bubble bursting sooner rather than later if nothing is done during this window.

I think the worrying thing is that if we are that skint then in order to buy any reinforcements in the summer one of our major assets would have to be sold. It will be difficult to have to try and keep competing with such a small squad.

Eric Dols:

You got me! I mean that I think we have an equal chance of each, as opposed to most of the last 20 years where I?d have thought a loss the most likely, then possibly a draw, with very little chance of a win!

Ironically, if we had more depth to the squad, I think we?d be in with a very big chance of a win (in light of Utd?s massive injury probs). Fresh legs are vital as the run in comes so I?d play Rodwell, Gosling and AVDM at OT against their majority reserve/youth side, coz they have freshest legs, quality and the element of surprise. In Moyes I Trust though!

Hope the lads are fresh for the visit of Le Arse tomorrow and that the Old Lady will reverberate with a full house.... the Arse are struggling for form and injuries so I believe the lads can get the points, with full backing of the crucial ?12th man? impact of the Goodison crowd in full voice... Pompey recouped a good £30-35 mil in sales so they can maybe afford to offer Saviola a better salary package than we could.

I?m slightly disappointed as there have been loads of strikers available this window to pick up cheaply, surely a loan deal for someone wouldn?t have hurt too much? Then again, there?s still time...

Three games against the shite also Arsenal and Utd in the space of two weeks will take its toll physically and mentally and what are we doing to help the lads eh Bill? I can imagine him " I know I will call him the best manager around again and Arteta the new golden vision, that should keep them happy and by that time Saha will be back and the window will be shut" utter disgrace what they are asking from the players and manager.

Get a grip lads, Keane wont come to us no way - he’ll either go back to Spurs, maybe Newcastle as quoted in some press or even more likely he’ll just stay at the RS and put up with the waiters rotation.

Saviola could be going to Pompei on loan and we’ll sign nobody in Jan.

As for Arteta, Sky Sports News (ever reliable!!) said last night that he could be back for the Arsenal game tomorrow night.

Paddy Power talk utter shit by the way Bradley, never believe anything bookies say mate!

Don’t think it will happen Bradley:

1. ’Beneath contempt’ wouldn’t sell him to us or loan him... not sure Moyes would do business with him
2. We couldn’t afford his wages... and even if we could we couldn’t afford the wages restructure as the rest of the players who would, quite rightly, demand parity with Keane

Not going to happen unfortunately

I am not sure I want Keane.

Don’t get me wrong, I can see he is a quality player and has pace, which is something we desperately lack up front, but I would much rather have Saviola.

The lad is pure class, quick and an exceptional finisher and the kind of "big-name" signing that would convince other players that we may be after that we have enough ambition for them. Real have basically said that they will contribute (if not pay all of) his wages for a loan with a viw to a permanent move and he could be our "one major" signing of the summer.

I will be so frustrated if he ends up at Pompey, playng out a relegation battle for a rubbish manager in stead of making the difference between UEFA qualification and CL qualification for us.

Being in or close to London is a huge factor for a player like Saviola Alasdair - its part of the reason we struggle to sign big names I’m sure.

The RS and Utd get away with it by virtue of being in the CL every year and generally being well known with a World presence we simply don’t have.

Do you know what, Jim lad, I think you have hit the nail on the head as to why we struggle to sign big names.

What’s up with Harry - resigning virtually all the players that they sold!! Chimbonda yesterday, tomorrow Robbie Keane if the latter has the face to return to White Hart Lane having sprouted about how much he has always loved Liverpool from a kid and how he’s always wanted to play for them. Feel let down Robbie??? You have to feel for Davey, he must feel envious when he sees all this money being bandied about and his pot is empty.
