I think David Moyes ought to take Rafa's criticisms on board and put out a positive attacking team on Saturday Against Man Utd ? with at least five or six Youth Team players with Carlo in goal and do a bit of squad rotation?

Could you imagine what Benitez would then say about our squad rotation policy? Dare he? That would be so funny to see... ok - we might get a bit of a hiding at Old Trafford but I would rather knock them out of the Cup than win the game at Man U given the choice between the two. I personally believe that the majority of our fans would feel the same way.

Seriously though, resting a few of our players would serve two purposes. It would give our key players much needed rest and would wind Mr Benitez up so much that after a subsequent Wednesday week Goodison defeat this may well be the straw that breaks the Waiter's back and he goes and does a Dalglish?. How funny would that be?

So, I am looking forward to a 4-3-3 formation at Old Trafford with an average age of 20 for the entire team and then a post match quote from Moyes that states: ?We came here with a positive line-up but we were out-classed by the best team we have played this season and, in my view, the favourites for the League having played all of the other suitors?? Oh, now that would be funny?.

I can?t argue with the sentiment but I don?t want the Blues to lose any game against anyone. I?m not adverse to trying to improve our chances by playing a couple of younger players and with a more attacking threat as I do believe there is a good chance of getting something from United due to their growing injury list.

United unlike our neighbours do have a host of players who can cause problems to our defence and we cannot have another rearguard action there. We should aim to win our next 3 games never mind settling for this game or that game. COYB

A wonderful ?what if? Steve. Well spotted ? el gordo (the fat boy) would love to have his cake and eat it.

I thought that Moyes would sacrifice the cup for a better chance of three points against Arsenal, even if that meant losing to the Shite. (The Arteta injury is still a bit of a mystery.) But he?s still standing.

We now, at least, have the opposition thinking about us. Anyone for chess?

Again, I sympathise with the sentiment, but somehow I can’t see Moyes putting too many of the young lads in against the Mancs. He places too much emphasis on doing things correctly and wouldn’t want to be seen handing the Mancs an advantage in the title race. I think he will play Yobo though, possibly at the expense of Osman, who I thought was quite poor in both derbies. Hopefully he will be back on form for the replay.

If Moyes came out and said he was prepared to lose at Old Trafford, he would get slaughtered more than usual and it’s exactly that negative thinking why.

Why aren’t United beatable? They have an injury list worse than ours (ok, they have a bigger squad than ours!). With our current form and defensive capabilities and with Arteta and Fellaini back, we can beat Arsenal, then United, then Liverpool!

I would be tempted to rest Lescott and Pienaar as they both have 4 yellow cards and you can see what is going to happen!! Those two are crucial for the replay next week. It's a hard one for Moyes to call..... I guess there is Yobo for Lescott but I couldn't call who I would replace Pienaar with ....just tell him NOT to tackle !

I know, I know, it?s an egregious Tory rag, but the stats are revealing.

The good thing is that once these kind od stats become public knowledge, opposition managers, players and fans start getting twitchy at the 80 minute mark.

Five to ten years ago, Everton were to football what Ireland were rugby ? everyone knew they could roll us over in the last ten minutes.

Well it doesn?t look like United need our help after all. 5-0 , 11 consecutive clean sheets (albeit with the help of Rob Styles).

But seriously seeing that Heskey scored the only goal at Pompey, tomorrow's game against Arsenal is a must win.

I said Villa are having one of those seasons and who knows ? they may push our neighbours out of the top 2.

Personally, if I was manager of Everton at this given moment I would rest all my senior players and put some youngsters out.

It would serve three purposes.

1. I’m resting senior players who have played nearly every minute of football for the club in the past 7 games.

2. I’m giving the youngsters a run out against the best team in the UK.

3. I’m increasing the chance of Rafa having a heart attack.

If we are realistic about pushing for the top for, and Moyes had said it is his target, we need to be aiming for at least a point out of each Arsenal and Man U.

Rather than hand the title to Man U to stop the RS getting their hands on it, why not aim to finish above them? They are on the same points as Villa, who are not too far away in my opinion...

Hey Boys, the Mancs hate us more than the Liverpool supporters and I would rather see our great city win all the honours!! I'm a scouser and proud of the fact that we have won more titles in our city than any other city in England... Fuck the Mancs...

I prefer the times when Scouse supporters were praised for not having to be kept apart and travelling together in the same vehicles to Wembley. We have finished runners up to Liverpool for the first division title... when did that happen in Manchester?

No, I don't agree at all with the stupid bigoted sentiments of this article and think it shows about as much character as Benitez showed sour grapes with his quote. Be proud to be a ?BLUE? but also be proud of the city's football achievements!!!

I want us to beat Utd at their own gaff even more than I want us to beat that lot next week. And the only reason (I hope) that our fans would want United to win the league is because it is marginally less annoying than if Benitez won it.

Of the 20 clubs in the Prem I am sure that Manyoo are 19th to the shites 20th in our preference to win the league BUT I hate losing to anyone and would hate to think we set our stall out to sacrifice a game just to prepare for the next match!

I was seriously angry watching us fold to Arsenal the other year when we had qualified already and hope that Moyes is now above this sort of "small club" mentality.

I look at this quite logically... the Mancs are 30 miles up the East Lancs Road... we have to live with the shite (well some of us do). The thought of them winning the Premier League and us finishing 4th or 5th is no contest, I?d take 6th every time and anyone who thinks that I?m not a true blue for saying that doesn?t know me. The chances are that if we beat the Mancs we will still almost certainly finish 6th so what the fuck.

Do you really want to beat the Mancs and hand the shite the league, you must be mad. For a long time now the Mancs have not bothered me, why? Because they have kept the red shites noses out of the troff for the last 20 years, simple. My enemy?s enemy is my friend.

I want Everton to be successful and win things. And to be involved at the highest level each season. If we don?t win a trophy or qualify for Europe the next season then I don?t care who we failed against. Failure is failure and three points lost or being knocked out of a cup competition has the same end result, regardless of the opposition.

Suppose we rest players for Man U, concede a lot of goals and then miss out on a European place on goal difference? When I go to a game I want to see the best available squad, not a compromise line-up because the manager considers the current game less important. If they don?t value the lesser or ?unwinnable? games then why should we bother to turn up? Let?s just go to the prestige games or the ones where we have a good chance of winning....

This is going to link with Benitez's interview again, I'm afraid, because of his descriptions of our tactics, but I'm very angry with it for different reasons.

It is a fact that Everton have had a lot of bad luck over injuries and suspensions, with key players absent such as Fellaini, Arteta and Yakubu. I do agree with Benitez to an extent, but ONLY in the second half, because of our injuries, we don't really have an attacking threat, so it is only natural to defend our lead. Surely, if Benitez was in the same position as Moyes, he would've done the same?? Of course he would!!

But what else annoys me about Benitez is that he hasn't really been in the position when all his players have been injured, so he talks about Everton's negative tactics when he has never been in the same position as Moyes is currently. Let's face it, in the Premier League, Liverpool rely more on key individuals than anybody else. If they lose Gerrard, Torres (and Carragher to an extent), they would be so screwed; they would never be a top 6 side, that's for sure!! I just only wish Liverpool were in that position, and let's see what Benitez says about his own negative tactics!!

Finally, can you imagine if the situation was the other way round... Liverpool had Everton's injury problems in the follow up to the derby games and Everton had a fully fit squad! Let's say 2 key midfielders for them get injured so Gerrard and Alonso, and 3 strikers so Torres, Keane and Kuyt all injured.

Now what the score would be? Well, I can tell ya, Everton would have been playing Villa/Doncaster in the FA Cup, and we'd have 3 points in the leagye against them, we'd definitely beat them!!

It's just amazing that, with our injury problems, Everton did not lose to Liverpool (who remember are a top 4 side), and even more true, that Liverpool could never cope if they had the same injury problems. It just goes to show that Everton are definitely more of a team than the redshite!!

Although that?s something to admire, Stoke, Hull, West Ham, Fulham also didn?t lose to Liverpool. Does that make them as good as us? Or are we better when we have all our players available? As we are above all of those 4 teams in the league then we must be better than them, but equal when it comes to not losing to Liverpool!

Let?s stop defining ourselves by our results against Liverpool and how close we are to them in the league. Unless Liverpool are top of the league and we are in second and chasing them or we are playing them in a cup final, then what they do really doesn?t matter. We should be worrying more about getting results against Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal (and this season Aston Villa).

You see to me, that point that we took of them at Anfield. Well I hope thats the two points that they didn’t get that stops them winning the league. The Mancs winning the league by one point would give me great joy.

Now whats the point of us going to Old Trafford and taking points off them. It would be like scoring an own goal. Winning against the Mancs will be of little or no use to us at the end of the season so get real and thats the reality of the situation... or do you like the taste of red shite shit?

So how often have we won at Old Trafford since the start of the Premiership ? If we take that attitude then what’s the point of away fans going to watch their team ? The effect on the morale of the players with a win at Old Trafford would be immense. Manchester United are one of the most successful teams in Europe on a consistent basis. If we are to become successful we have to beat the best teams. How can we expect to compete against the better teams in Europe if we don’t try to beat Manchester United and the like ? Have we really lowered our expectations so much that losing to help Liverpool’s rivals is deemed a success ?

Talk about missing the point!!

I hate the RS with a passion, I love Everton more than I hate Liverpool. You seem to have lost that particular plot if you say the opposite.

My priorities in order on matchday are:

1. Everton win
2. Liverpool lose

Without exceptions of any sort.

I don’t like Man U, Tottenham, Newcastle or Chelsea (in that order) either for various reasons.

The two points possible difference to Everton is likely to be far more decisive than to Man U anyway, because Man U will have a much bigger gap over Liverpool than that by end of season.

Liverpool will be out of the title race by March and we’ll still be pushing for Europe. Take Gerrard and Torres out of their team and suddenly they are a mid table side (fact).

So what’s your favourite shout: COYB or FORS?

There’s no doubt what mine is.

Is that clear?

PS Where did I say it didn’t matter where you come from? Apologies to non-Scouse blues here but nothing winds me up than southern RS "supporters" coming on to Five Live after the Derby and slagging Everton. Your arguments are just bizarre (’don’t like taking chances’??????)
