Little frustrations

Comments (17)

This article is in relation to Moyes and his decisions. I think Moyes is a fantastic manager and obviously there is debate about his capabilities throughout all of us Evertonians.

But Moyes sometimes annoys the hell out of me, because of little things and for some reason, people always seem to be remember these things much more often and that is why, in my opinion, the majority of the people who do not rate Moyes don't like him. These things are like substitutions, transfers, squad decisions etc, like these:

1. This is the most obvious one at the moment, Gosling for Osman. As much as I love Osman, he's clearly tired, and therefore not playing as well, Gosling look promising in his appearances for us, why not give him a go?!

2. Transfer window. Though Moyes normally makes good signings, why always leave it so late? For some reason, Evertonians always suffer in the transfer window.

3. A winger! Our only natural wingers are Gosling and Van der Meyde, surely it's common sense that we must buy one. I still can't believe we haven't bought one yet.

4. Substitutions. Moyes only makes substitutions when we are losing or defending a lead. He is very predictable at times, and sometimes there has been the situation where substitutions have to be made, and typical Moyes does not make them!

5. Build up the squad. I know Moyes likes a small squad, but we clearly need a bigger one. Fatigue in the squad is the reason for our drop of form last year, and I'm afraid it's gonna happen again this season.

6. Anichebe. Firstly, I don't think he is playing well, and his attitude stinks. But it doesn't help when he is played right wing... I mean, our only fit striker playing right wing does sound ridiculous.

This is not slagging Moyes off at all (I know it sound likes it!), but it is just things that frustrate me at times. I know all of you readers will agree and disagree with some of the article, and I may be too harsh at times. Though, saying that, Moyes has started to get better, Baines is having a run in the team, and Arteta is playing in his best position.

Ben you have made some valuable points. But i cannot except that Osman is tired. Are we going to have these excuses every year. Simply put hes shite, so i too would welcome Gosling ahead of him. You say Moyes is a fantastic manager yet claim that sometimes he annoys the life out of you and you back up these points. Hes never proactive, he will only react once its too late. Sorry but i just cant accept Moyes is anymore than Ok as a manager.

I thought this was a reference to Moyes being interested in Glen Little. That would have been an awful signing.

When we have such a small squad as you’ve highlighted, why the hell does it seem Moyes was scratching around last minute to sign people? He not only had all of January but he could surely have lined players up before January so we could sign them as soon as the window opened. Instead our players are knackered as there is absolutely no squad rotation.

Fuck me lads... we haven’t even kicked off yet and the whinging has already started!

Lets do the manager the courtesy of seeing how we get on first... Though, if we beat them 10 - 0, Gerrard gets sent off and Benitez is carried way by men in white coats I guess some of you would still have a moan.

COME ON EVERTON - LETS DO THEM!

Let’s give Moyes yet another chance (one each week by my reckoning) to see what he can do this time and then.....??

Oh, I know, we’ll give him another one next time around too, just in case, who else is there anyway....Moyes is god.

In my eyes Moyes is crap - even if Everton win tonight, he’s still crap!

I reckon any team bar Manure and Arsenal (one or two more at a stretch..)would swap managers in a second.

Given that Ferguson and Wenger are clocking up the years, I reckon Moyes will be towards the top end of their ’most wanted’ list.

Let’s be honest, there are very few managers out there who could do a better job, and I for one feel am glad he’s in charge of us Blues.

Now, after a few draws with the ’top4’ I feel it’s time to kick on, and what better way than in the cup tonight!

Moyes (-key players) Vs Raffa (+fully fit squad)

and I still think we will win!!

I’m sorry James, I disagree about Osman. He definitely isn’t shite, but I do agree we can easily replace him, he’d make a great squad player because of his technique and versatility. But he is definitely off form, and I think that is mainly because he’s tired and over-played.

And this isn’t moaning Kevin, it’s jus true. I’ve admitted Moyes is a great manager, but just like all managers, and all people in fact, they have bad points as well as good points about them, and in this case, Moyes’ managerial capabilities.

We have NO MONEY TO BUY PLAYERS. Why is this so HARD for people to understand?? That’s why we didn’t buy anyone.

It all comes down to quality vs. quantity.

A thin, yet talented first team, players are relied on for all the big games, and when they get injured we struggle for a few games.

OR, a mediocre first team, yet when players are injured they are easily replaced.

I personally prefer the former, and I have no problem with the way Moyes is handling the squad. Sure it’s frustrating now that the Yak’s out, when Big Bird was injured, and Cahill flies out to Australia annually, but it’s worth it for the albeit rare occasion when we put out a full strength quality squad.

By Big Bird I meant Fellaini, and I meant suspended.

There is no way we can afford a quality first team with strength in depth

Please stop your complaining, you're dead wrong blaming Moyes for your frustrations. The man has managed a group of players who are as a whole a great team but individually aren?t that great on paper. He has brought in cheap lower league players and turned them into gems using the mantra of playing for each other. The subs he brings on are not game changing players like the big clubs have.

No money means no big signings, for years that?s been the way. When he gets money he tends to spend it wisely with a few exceptions. But percentage wise he has been very successful in the market. This year and last he tried the big signings and where are they now. Not exactly laying it all on the line for the team.

With the club structure we have he has done remarkably well and sometimes we just got to admit we are still punching above our weight in today?s football world. Until we get new ownership or investment, he is the only man who could keep us on a steady coarse with the calibre of players we can afford.

Alan, I fully agree with you. We are punching above our weight, and on paper we should be a mid table side rather thasn just below the top 4. My main concern about Moyes is his caution regarding substitutions. On the few occasions that he has been decisive it has worked (eg Gosling, Rodwell and Van der Meyde last night) but too many times substitutes have been only given 10 minutes to change the game. Against Arsenal in injury time Moyes could have easily brought on Yobo and Castillo to take up time and to relieve tired players - Fellaini was living dead by then.

After, I take my comment back.

Moyes IS better than Wenger and the others, only second to Ferguson now. Just hope they don’t rob our man!

All managers of all clubs frustrate the fans at some point with the decisions the make or don?t make. Kendall used to make some strange ones, and also signed some shite players. Even the Alex Ferguson has signed some crap...

Osman ? I think you are mistaken. He is not tired, he is simply not good enough for our first eleven. I?ve been saying for weeks that Gosling should be playing ahead of him.

Wingers ? They cost a fortune and we don?t have enough money to buy a top inger who would be worthy of a top 4 side.

Squad size ? Better to have a squad of 22 players than a spurs-esque side.

Anichebe ? No where near good enough. He and Osman should be sold in the summer.
