Stoke on a Sunday

Comments (8)

Can anyone explain why we have to play Stoke on a Sunday when it's not on TV? Police say it's for operational reasons ? like more ovies?

We know have hardly any games at 3pm on a Saturday, call me old fashioned but isn't that when games are supposed to take place? Jumpers for goal posts.....

Still we should spank them whatever time we have to kick off.

Talking of Stoke, during the early sixties, I seem to remember that when Stoke visited Goodison and, indeed Anfield, the kick off was always 3.15 p.m. This was in the days when a Saturday, 3 p.m, kick off was sacrosanct. Can any other aul ?arse confirm and / or indeed explain this or should I just be taking more water with it?

Apparently there’s a BNP demonstration in town on the Saturday.

Why they don’t have to switch to Sunday is beyond me?

Stoke have a big reputation for trouble and supposedly like to go toe to toe with anyone. When we played them in the Cup a few years ago, there was massive trouble. May be the police feel they can better resource and manage the game on a Sunday. Only a theory...

The Wigan game is not on TV, but like the Derby County game last season has been switched to a Sunday because of the Grand National.

It seems any old reason is now acceptable. Outrageous when, as people on here have said, you paid for a season ticket expecting more than 3 games a season to be played at 3pm on a Saturday. It?s not as if the Brainless Numpty Party have to pay to demonstrate is it?

Would have to go a long way though to beat our game at Nottingham Forest in Octner 1990 that was moved to a Sunday to accommodate Nottingham?s Goose Fair!
