The Mail Bag

We would be their prize asset

Comments (11)

This is the website for all things in Knowsley: www.knowsley.gov.uk... Look at the "Latest news" section. A service interruption notice and an article about a woman failing to comply with a planning notification is all there is.

Look to the left a little, the "latest events" notice. It boasts "Knowsley village dance session" and even "cheerleading classes". Yeah, you got it, there is nothing going on in the borough of Knowsley. Look further down on the website page, where it says, "spotlight on..." well I am sure you have guessed exactly where the spotlight is on.... Destination Kirby!

They don't even know if it is going to be built, but already it is the main thing about Knowsley. The fact is, Liverpool council seem to think they can "bully" us around, and as soon as we say, "Fine, we know when were not wanted", and move to Kirby, suddenly they want a government inquiry. Well, guess what: the British government are not biased little pigs like Liverpool City Council, and they know that they're going to need big stadiums if they want the 2018 World Cup here. Not Knowsley, because we're going to be their prize asset. We are going to be the biggest thing in Knowsley?s history. When we want our update, going from 50,000 to 60,000, they will be looking for ways to fund us, and not blocking our finance by turning down plans to sell our land (unlike some!).

Obviously Kirby is not perfect. Ideally we would have wanted something closer, and maybe a better stadium. But after a mixture of 20 years of mismanagement, lack of finance, and a council that?s office Christmas parties are spent celebrating when Everton lose, there really is no other option.

Personally I love the idea (of moving to Kirby). I have heard it is modelled on FC Koln?s stadium, which I think looks impressive: www.blick-auf-koeln.de/e1526... Not just that, having a council that would bend their backsides just to help us would be a nice change from the shambles that is the Liverpool City Council.

Hopefully the new stadium will be perfectly timed, with Everton finally having fully cracked the top four, and hosting teams like Barcelona and AC Milan. Knowing us, it won't happen so sweetly, but that is the joy of football, anything can happen.

I seem to remember LCC offering us the kings Dock for £30million and a certain grey haired gentlemen telling us the money was ring-fenced and then saying he was 99% sure wed be playing there in 2007, where does this LCC bashing come from? if you want to blame anyone for mis management financially look know further than BK not the people or institutions he would have you believe have let us down. I still remeber looking at that model in the maritime museum, ah well!! what could have been.

An absolutely cracking mail bag entry Robbie.

Yep, we will be the no.1 ’thing’ in Knowsley and we’ll retain all that wonderful Liverpool heritage too.

An Excellent point about the 2018 World Cup, Everyone knows that Old Trafford and Anfield will be stadiums used but the smart money is that the North West will likely be allocated another stadium....It will be between Citeh’s ’bowl’ which has an unexpandable capacity of only 48,000 or our new ground which will be over 50,000 (Extendable to 60,000). I think we’ll win that little batte dont you? ;)

Interestingly ’Sport England’ who have a deep interest in all things ’2018 World Cup’ and stadia strongly backed our new stadium through the planning process - who I wonder is ultimately in charge of Sport England?.......Yup - It’s mad Evertonian and Culture/Sport Minister Andy Burnham. ;)

You’d think by now people would know how to spell Kirkby.

KirKby.

Modelled on Koln? That was a lie from about 2 years back wasn’t it?

Mmm... the list ends there doesn?t it.
What else is their? St James?s Park? cos they're the only stadiums bigger than 50000+

Add that to Wembley and what do you get? 4 stadiums. I think you will find that you need a few more than four stadiums to host World Cup.

Either way, that's not my main point, what I am trying to say is... why stay within the borders of the city when you can go to a nearby borough and be the star of the show?

"Rupert" or is that Robert Elstone sad but not unexpected that you didn’t appear at Goodison today as asked to come out at hapf time and ask the paying customers what they think about DK and its many failings. Your posting gives the same falsehoods again:

50,000 not over 50,000 as you falsely claim - without a transport plan would be a mere 40,000

expandable to 60,000 highly unlikely given the aforementioned lack of transport plan and capping at 40,000 which was never going to be a shock to all but the blinkered in a town of less than 50,000 occupants.

How do you honestly type tripe like you do? Citeh’s bowl has proven transport access and staged the 2008 Uefa Cup Final, doubt very much a small town would ever hold anything similar never mind a World Cup match.

As I posted under the Elstone webchat thread I suspect Rupert is Robert.
The styles and "press releasey" feel to everything. The same scripts over and over in other new stadiums.
All seems to follow a formula, Or maybe I’m paranoid of course.

Thing is, even a spliff don’t make me paranoid!

Now ask yerselves this, If you had just been on a website showing the Koln stadium and decided to paste it onto a post that you were writing. it would work wouldn?t it, because you are on the site right? Well how come then the link in the original post don?t work?

Hmm..... is it because it was released a while ago to you in a press release perhaps, and unknown to you they have moved it? Now ask yerselves this, what sort of person actually gets a press release on new stadiums?

As I say if, as stated in the post, you?d just been looking at the site, you would know the correct address?.......... wouldn?t ya?

Robbie Carew, "when we want our update from 50,000 to 60,000".
That statement has got to be drug fueled.
After five years in Kirkby they will be giving tickets away to local schools and the salvation army to boost attendances up to 25,000. Have a lie down lad.

I have a sneaking suspicion that ’Robbie Carew’ and ’Rupert Tarlington’ may be one and the same person.

I think we should be told.
