Are we still getting paid?

Comments (17)

I was wondering if any fellow Evertonians could help me out with a question that I have?! It is simply this: Are we still getting money from Man Utd every time they win a trophy?

I think I read that, for the first five years of Rooney's Utd career, we get money if they are successful. I know we got paid last year for their exploits and wondered if we will get more money out of them if they win anything this season? Hopefully someone might know more than I do with regards to this subject!

I thought it was just if a certain trophy was won within a few years of Rooney being there, then a one-time payment was triggered, this wouldn?t apply if Manure were to go on and win the same trophy again... or at least that?s how I understood it.

Either way, I hope they end up with nothing

The money will just disappear into Kenwright's pocket.

That's right, Simon, there was a maximum amount that we could have secured from the deal which was around the £30 million mark. We?ve more or less achieved this, apart from the accruement of England caps at this moment in time.

Grow up, Tom Campbell. Bill Kenwright is one of the few chairmen who refuses to take a single penny out of the club - as you are most probably aware.

Brian, before you take such a stance, I suggest you look at the cost of leased cars at EFC and the fact we?ve had 4 CEO?s in 8 years before being brave enough to make such a statement.

The only thing that can definitely be confirmed is that Kenwright has NOT put 1 penny of his own money into EFC and spends most of his time in London.

The way I unstand it is we get paid for every trophy over the original term of his contract (5 years) except the League Cup. To get the full £30 mill, United needed to win every Prem, CL and FA Cup over the five years, plus his caps. To be fair we have picked up a few quid a few times. But he was still too cheap, and as we all know still is!

Guys here is an extract of an old posting outlining the terms of Rooney?s deal. What it doesn't mention is the deal for Howard, Neville and Saha!!!!

With little irony for long-suffering Evertonians, it was these words that Rooney would echo with lacking conviction when he finally spoke to confirm the worst: a transfer to Manchester United ? for the ludicrous down-payment of only £10M. So ends the dream.

The rest of the bizarre financial package Bill Kenwright negotiated includes a second payment of £10M in August 2005, and contingent payments of up to £7M payable on the occurrence of the following events during the next 5 years:

?European Champions? League:
◦Winners:- £1.0M
◦Runners Up:- £0.5M
?FA Premier League:
◦Winners:- £0.5M
◦Runners Up:- £0.25M
?FA Cup Winners:- £0.15M
?Player signs an extension to his contract at Man Utd: - £1.5M
?Player earns 20 England caps in competitive games whilst a Man Utd player:- £0.5M
?Player earns a further 20 England caps in competitive games whilst an Man Utd player:- £0.5M
Even if these events do not occur, Everton will receive £3M provided Rooney remains registered to Man Utd until 30th June 2007. This sum will be payable in equal installments of £1M on 1st August 2006, 2007 and 2008 if not already paid via the above incentives.

So the maximum was £27 million which we?ve already had one way or another!!

He was bush wacked just like Berbatov but at least we?ve been able to build a proper team of "Blue legends" now.

Hey guys, just move on.

Can?t you all be just content that we now have a team that want to play for each other (and the club and fans).

The Rooney money dug us out of the shit when we were between a rock and a hard place. Who knows where we would have been if we hadn?t secured the first £10m? I remember Trevor Birch asking me (rather jokingly), if I had any money as he needed it desperately ? that was one day before he resigned!

Let's just move on and be happy. Leave all the other rubbish in the past.

Prick of a comment. Reveal evidence of this drivel or shut up.

Likewise. Also, how many premier league chairmen have put their own money into their clubs? and more to the point, outside of using it to buy shares in the first place, why exactly should they? Since when have premier league football clubs become registered charities?

It frankly beggars belief that, given where we now are as a club and on the back of another excellent performance under difficult circumstances, there are people like you who just want to keep beating up Kenwright.

He lives in London and has his business headquarters in London. So fucking what? He attends every single game & liaises with manager & CEO daily.

This is not only mind numbingly boring, 99% of it is either vaccuous, incorrect or irrelevant. Now it’s lease cars. FFS. Do us all a favour and turn the fucking record over.

I just don’t fucking get it when we start offloading players with success-induced add-ons. Everton blesses competitors to win competitions - in which we’re also in! NSNO reached a new low with that one!

Let’s field a reserve goalie if manure come to town. Wait..

Ok my comment was a joke I didn?t mean any harm, I have great respect for what Kenwright did. But just to remind ye, We sold Rooney for £20 odd million and who was his replacement? James Beattie for £6M?

Tom, You seem to missing the point. Yes, his replacement was Beattie for six.... now pay attention!... We needed the money desparately!!!!!... so to go out and spend everything we got for Rooney would be square one wouldn?t it????

Anyway, it really is time to move on from that. He was too good for us to keep at the time (fact). We?re doing pretty damn well without him (fact) and his sale may well have saved the club financially...

He?s just an ex-player ? get over it!!!

Steve Williams - two ’move ons’ in one post?

Got to say I find "we need to move on" and/or "it’s time to move on", the height of passive-aggressive ’debate’.

There’s a choice of subtexts to ’moving on’

1) Stop fuucking going on about all that stuff that doesn’t interest me - I wanna talk about something else.

2) I’m badly losing an argument, there’s only one way out..."er look, we need to ’move on’".

With regards 1) - the answer is simply don’t engage in that particular debate - problem solved.

Regarding 2) - well my own answer would be "no we CAN’T fuucking ’move on’ - answer the question/point or accept you were wrong and let me claim victory!"

Seriously, can we drop this 80’s non-speak, or at least be up front about what it means?

(nb: Yes I DO understand ’passive-aggressive’ is the epitome of 80’s wank-speak, but ’hey guys’, one must cut one’s cloth)

I was under the impression that we "Surrendered" the payments for the cup when we signed Louis Saha, as we signed him for next to nothing.
However, I think that we still get a 25% sell on whatever United sell him for, but I do doubt they will ever sell him.
