Be proud to be a Blue

Newcastle and before... and why you should be proud to be a Blue.

It?s the sign of the times when after just one game some of us are critical of David Moyes after getting a point in Newcastle's back yard.

After all that has happened I'm really surprised why people are critical but then our expectations are high these days...

For Newcastle we had 6 first teamers out: Timmy, Peanuts, Yak, Hibby, Osman... and I'll put our Spanish wizard in that list as well as he only played 3 minutes... That?s the whole midfield.

Now with others only just coming back from Injury on the bench which includes Fellaini, Saha and Jo (playing his second game since joining) and our youngsters being forced to be thrown in at the deep end. We've not had fit strikers for most of the season.

You can start to see what problems we've had on Saturday and for most of the season.... remember we've only lost once since Aston Villa robbed us in the last 20 seconds of injury time. I think that's one lost in 14 games and that?s to a 1 - 0 penalty lost to the European Champions and the current and most probably Title holders for this season.

Let?s get real guys and look at the bigger picture. If we make Europe after all that?s happened I'll be a proud happy Evertonian. Look at all the teams below, the millions they have spent, they'd love to have team spirit like ours, what teams could manage where we are with the problems we?ve had. Congratulate our achievement against all the odds we?ve had and get behind the TEAM and the MANAGER because NOW more than ever they need our SUPPORT!

Be proud to be a Blue!

I agree with everything you said. Someone else pointed out on another thread tha some Blues are starting to sound like Redshite / Newcastle / Man U fans, I’m glad to see that people still have some sense!

Nice article but like Brendan, I am pig sick about the loss of Arteta. It’s a cruel game sometimes and hopefully Nolan will get more than the madatory 3 games

Don?t know why I thought about it today ? but the season 2002-03 review DVD was entitled "The Magnificent Seventh". What a fantastic achievement ? a 7th place finish and so nearly a place in Europe.

Now we are about to have our 3rd consecutive top 6 finish and Seventh would be considered a failure. We have changed the mentality

Still the final step for me to take. In the 60s and 80s I expected us to win when we were losing. In the 90s, I expected us to lose when we were winning... slowly, slowly I am getting back to expecting us to win when were are not!

Shaun while i am gutted over Arteta we still should of won yesterday. I think the criticism of Moyes by some of the fans was justified. I am a big fan of Moyes sometimes, as i thnink he is the best manager we have had since the days of Kendall. But occasionally especially yesterday his tactial decisions just let him down. For instance why put Castillo on when Arteta got injured and sit back. Why not put Fellani on instead and at the start of second half when we where playing against ten men. Put Saha on go two up top with Fellani in behind and Attack them and fuckin have a go for once. Then maybe it would of been different but then again im not the manager. Davey the ditherer cost us three points yesterday with his negative substitions. Get well soon Mikel the best little Spainard we know.

David.

All I can say is the RS and the Arsenal where at home on the weekend, with much more players to choose from than our available players and they all ended up having 1 point as well.

It easy to be critical of our manager but lets not forget the troubles we’ve had this season. Lets not forget the positives we have found in the adversity we have faced.

We’ve only got a reserve team out at the minute. I just hope and pray we can hang on to 6th place. I can’t see us winning the FA Cup without Mikky. The boys are doing well though, particularly the young ones. Fingers crossed.

I’m with you Shaun - we are so far away from where we were for so many years. We have very good PL players coming back from suspension and injury, and prospects.

|Mikel will be back good and strong next season, and the rest will still make something out of this.

Keep the faith.

Agree too, good article and perspective. Just goes to show our lack of depth and what an important player Arteta is for us. Genuinely sorry for him, get well soon!

Now, I don’t always agree with David Moyes substitutions (of lack of) or line up but I am sick of reading about fans questioning the changes v Newcastle. Is it just me or is there someone else who can understand that Castillo was brought on because neither Fellaini, Saha or Shandy could have lasted 85 mins. Fellaini and Saha both got as much game time as they could have and Moyes did all that he could have done.

Jags at right back stunned me as well and he looked out of place and would lob high crosses in from the wrong position that even Hibbert would be been preferred! BUT, we kept a clean sheet and defended well so its hard to be too critical there.

Come on folks, we missed a chance at 3 points but thats because we simply ran out of attacking players.

I’m proud to be a blue nose, now more than most...We all are... I’m glad where showing the rest of the clubs in the PL what true team spirit is, with what little resources we have, with no millions to spend but a staduim that has seen many glory days in it’s history, a staduim with heart.

We’ve not had luck on our side, infact we’ve had no luck all season and yet we still continue to fight. So if the team shows this spirit then so should our fans, we look after each other when times are hard. Remember Everton is a traditional local peoples club of which there are not many left and I FOR ONE AM VERY PROUD TO BE PART OF.

With no luck, with our back against the wall and against all odds lets show the rest in the PL how this Everton Family fight!!!

So we are full circle back to the Dithering Dave quotes again!!

The only reason that Fellaini and Saha were on the bench is because we didn?t want to look daft with just 5 subs, they were clearly not fit.

All these people questioning the subs, please advise what would have been the better subs and spare me the Van der Meyde bollocks, one cross in 3 years does not a great player make. His arse is bigger than a tanker and is just as slow.

"For instance why put Castillo on when Arteta got injured and sit back. Why not put Fellani on instead"

He was injured he only came on when he did as an emergency.

"Put Saha on go two up top with Fellani in behind and Attack them and fuckin have a go for once"

Saha is not match fit. He came on later for a run out but wouldn’t have been able to last any longer.
