The future is blue

It has been reported that Femi Orenuga, a 15-year-old winger (who has already turned out as a substitute for Southend in the cup last November) signed on scholarship terms for Everton yesterday.
What is so warming for me is the fact that he opted to join Everton despite a whole host of clubs offering him a place, quote "when I went to Everton, I saw how many youth players had gone on into the first team and I think I will have a better chance with them than some of the other sides who were interested"
Femi lad, keep your boots close by you ? going on current injury rates, you may find yourself in the team a lot quicker than you think!
Welcome to the blue family....

We can but dream
He’s supposed to be very good. Lets just hope we see something from him in a year or two.
With Michel Platini and Sep Blatter looking to implement the 6/5 rule in a few years, it seems wise to invest in an academy of top English youngsters. Further it is another statement of intent from Moyes and his 5 year plan.
Regardless of the division he broke into the first team at 15! So (hopefully) if his pace and technical ability is there, the rest will come at our academy!
If he fails we lose a small fee as his success will pave the way for future payments. But if he turns out to be another Aaron Lennon or Ashley Young?
Sensibly only time and a lot of hard work will tell. So far in his short career he has ticked all the right boxes, trained with the world champions and caught the eye both here and in Sweden. Moyes is no fool and all he need show right now is pace, commitment and technical ability.
Sorry Jason, just seen your post. Priceless.
It would be great if we could field a young talented team packed full of english players with only 1 spaniard 1 Aussie and a yank.
No, things aren’t that bad - just thought it would be interesting to hear other Blues thoughts on how Everton are now managing to snap up talented youngsters ahead of the opposition and if they felt things are looking up.
But I am excited that he looks at Gosling, Rodwell, Anichebe, Vaughan, Rooney (yes Fat boy), and says here is a club where there is a good record of developing good young talent and giving them a place in the team if they are good enough.
It the possibility that we can become the english speaking equivalent of Arsenal. Know for great youngster, but at least ours all speak english (and maybe score goals!)
That is what is so exciting about this. We are a club to come to - especially if you are young and talented.
Well let's not get too excited, I remember a 14- or 15-year-old American lad who was hyped to be the next big thing, turned out he was a bit overated. Can't think of his name now but think he's playing in Greece or somewhere like that.
I don’t know if the 6/5 rule will work to Everton’s benefit in the long run. It may be better for us for the Sky 4 to continue their essential de-emphasis of their youth system with regards to British talent. An enforced "Home Rule" may make it more difficult for us to attract the best young talent. Any thoughts?
"By the way according to one of my friends who has close connections with the club we sold him for £30,000. Rip off."

Happy days :-)

It?s a good policy in my mind, bringing in some of the brightest young talent for a nominal fee. If just one in ten were to make it as a top Premier League player then he would have easily paid for the nine shite ones!
Nurse..... s it time for me bed bath?????
Don?t get too excited, please!
John Oster for me...

By the sounds of it, he is eligiable to play for us too! Could this guy be the answer? Has anyone seen him play?
