Jacobsen interview

Having read the report, does anyone else think this smacks of him spitting the dummy?
It's like, "Yes I've had a bad injury which has meant I haven't been able to play. Yes I've very recently returned to full fitness and yes, my main rivals for the position are playing well at the moment. However, I want a go - and soon - or else I'm going home"
Really? On yer bike son, if you're going to be like that! That's not the attitude I want to hear from a blue, especially one who hasn't done anything for the club yet!
...or is that just me being overly sensitive??

I think it?s you being overly sensitive, Chris :)
The lad wants to play first-team football and that?s a good thing in my book. If you look at it from his point of view, he got a good move to a Premier League club, suffered a bad injury right off the bat and just when he recovered his fitness and an opportunity to make his debut came up when Tony Hibbert was suspended, he was over-looked in favour of playing Phil Jagielka out of position.
He hasn?t come out in the press slagging off the manager or the club, just explained, quite understandably, that at the age of 29, if he can?t get regular football at Everton, he?d prefer to move on. Seems fair enough to me.
Have to say, despite many plaudits of late & mainly deserved, Moyes does sometimes do a Benitez (totally unfathomable decision). IMHO not playing Lars at Newcastle was one of them. Playing Jagielka at RB was ridiculous. Why do that and have a specialist RB on the bench?
Lyndon’s right. The lad’s 29 and wants to play. If he’s overlooked in favour of a central defender when our min RB is injured then you can;t blame him for thinking what’s the bloody point.
I think it’s a bit rich to be complaining about not playing when you’re on a one year deal and have been injured for 23 games. I did think it was weird playing Jag at right back ... but only because I would have played Yobo there instead. As far as I am concerned I hope that on the way out Lars will hold the door open for AVDM and Castillo as well. Nice try lads but none of you made an impression.
It was a flashback to the first few games of the season on Saturday without a holding Midfielder in Neville.
Therefore if Hibbert is out as is likely you would think it is now or never for Jacobsen on Wednesday night.
Neither Jagielka or Yobo is a good right back (Yobo, Newcastle away two seasons ago anyone?) and we are plainly wide open without Neville in the holding role, so why not play the lad and see if he is upto it? I think there is more chance of winning with neville in midfield even if jacobsen ends up a liability in the game (which I doubt he will)
I don’t have a huge problem with his comments so long as he is giving his best to try and prove what he can do in training. Put yourself in his shoes. He is an international player on a 1 year contract and hasn’t played much in the last 2 years. He would be desperate for a chance. He has to play to prove himself to Moyes, or his future club.
That being said, I’ve been happy enough with Hibbert and Phil so unless he can play like Baines going foward I’m not worried.
Kieran - you think it’s "a bit rich to be complaining about not playing" and end up saying that Jacobsen should go in the summer because he hasn’t "made an impression." Maybe that would be easier if Moyes let him play a couple of games?
Why do you want him to be given a go? We signed him on a free from a relegated German side. He is most probably shite and was signed in panic. Moyes is in no way "doing a Benitez", have any of you seen him play or train? He’s not playing for a reason. The defenders we still have available have been tested at this level and are reliable soe why upset the balance?
Moyes thinks he?s crap. A panic signing to class with Castillo ? and Gravesen and Gardner last year ? as well as Krøldrup and Van der Meyde before them. At least the manager acknowledges his mistakes by not playing these no-marks!
You can understand the players' frustration, but... Moyes sees all the players in training and is aware of how they fare. He must feel that moving Neville to rightback is worth the sacrifice in midfield, if he thinks Jacobson is not up to it. After all, this lad is cover, maybe he can be a regular in time, he is for Denmark so he must be able to play,
Trust in Davey, hopefully he can still do a bit of alchemy when needed and get us through these difficult times.
A plus thought, when this season is over and everything can be assesse. It will be evident that our Manager has performed with great credit under tremendous adversity, all this can only add to his experience and help to strengthen his character.
It's very easy to smile and be the face of calm when all is going well, it's only under adversity that the true character of the man comes out (hence Benitez, Ferguson and their ocassional wobblers!). We should be proud that our man is going about his job with dignity and not moaning about the injury situation for example.
....and being magnificently rewarded for so doing, I might add!

So,
Our third choice right back, who was another lazarus signing ...might up sticks and go..
I have to say, this extremely underwhelming bombshell has knocked me for six..
Whatever shall we do.
He is deffinitely a victim of timing, if he would have been fit at the start of the season, odds are he would have gotten a game, as our defence was looser than Jodie Marsh, however he is now fit and our defence has become tighter than Rod Steward.
I don’t see anything bad in his comments only that he has to consider his future in the summer, nothing groundbreaking about that.
He cant be that bad if he’s playing regularly for Denmark. When was the last time Phil Neville was an international RB.
I think it’s more a case that Moyes likes to look after "his boys" and I dont think Jacobsen has made it there yet.
I’d be very disapoointed if he played Yobo or Jags there on Wednesday as neither is a decent RB.
Anyway I thought Gosling was a RB so why dont we play him there and give VDM a try as we need some width and creativity although I think west brom would have been more his cup of tea than an aggressive Blackburn.
Jagielka played right back to cope with duff, he did a good job and didnt concede or give him much of the play. Jacobsen who has missed all season would not have been match fit and would have struggled to manage against duff. I would play Jags there again over Jacobsen if rodwell isnt fit so Neville has to hold the midfield. Yes Jacobsen will have been signed as a replacement RB for Hibbert for such circumstances but why would you trust someone who has been out all season over our player of the season! Ridiculous anyone would think otherwise
I think people are reading him wrong. I think he is saying that if he cant get on the pitch and prove himself he is not going to get his contract renewed. If you are out of contract it’s not your decision if you stay or go is it!!
I can understand his frustration ? the lad wants to play and if he can?t get a game when he is on the bench and we take off our right back, when is he going to get on? Not forgetting that the previous week we played a centre half in his position...
I didn?t hear a peep out of the shitehawk when he was being paid £26k a week for doing dick ....
get rid... rotten apple...
Denmark are shit by the way... I could play RB for the fuckers!
Andrew Fair, I think you have a point there. But Blackburn have an equally as good winger as in Morten Gamst Pedersen.... BUT he got a red against Hull, and I can?t really think of any decent replacements there.
So I?d love to see Jacobsen play and gotta admit I'd be disappointed if he doesn?t and picks an unnatural replacement instead in Jagielka or Yobo. I mean, he?s an international and I?ve heard he?s a very good attacking full back, could help provide a balance to the right side as Baines does to the left, therefore makes the team more balanced while going forward.
C?mon Moyes, please play him!
Have just looked at the OS and see Yobo is speaking about feeling comfortable in defence and thinks he will feel better after having 2 games back in the side.
I have nothing against Yobo at all, but I’m concerned that Moyes may be looking to shift jags to RB while Hibbert is out. Is Jacobsen really that bad that we would be happy to have a run of games busting up one of the best CB partnerships in the league.
If DM thinks his attitude is right and that Jacobsen is good enough to play he will choose him.
With the news that Hibbo may be out for up to a month, it is more likely that DM will use his tried and tested players from now until the end of the season. He has a responsibilty to his hard-working close-knit squad to choose those players that have given him so much so far this season. Maybe if we get to a situation where 4th is unachievable and 6th is safe then DM may well experiment with players. But don?t hold your breath awaiting Jacobsens debut or many appearances from AVM.
Tonight?s results haven?t helped us in our quest for CL football and it does look increasingly likely that the Boro game is gaining more importance as it approaches.
One thing I can never understand about these fringe players who never or seldom get used (AVdM, Castillo, Jacobsen etc) is how come they never (or rarely) get a run in the reserves. You can train all you like and look great on the training ground but there is no substitute for real games, even if they are reserve ones. Players like Castillo in particular don?t seem to "get" the way the game is played in England. They more exposure to it in real games, the better.
It’s just a non-story, this. A guy who has been injured all season would like to play for his club.
The wording also makes me think that he’s speaking in broken English so it’s not really fair to give his words a literal meaning and pan him for them.
Maybe it’s a translation of an interview I heard him give on Danish television couple of weeks ago. In it, he merely stated that he was eager to play but the team was playing so well that he believed it might take some injuries before he gets a place. He came across as a decent man.
