Another one ruled out for the season!

After suffering several injury blows this season with the likes of Pienaar and Cahill injured for the start of the season and most notably Yakubu and Arteta out for the rest of the season, it is disappointing that Victor Anichebe will also join the pair on the sidelines until next term. Obviously Anichebe is not so massive a loss compared to Yakubu and Arteta, but the squad is yet again getting thinner and thinner at this crucial stage of the season, raising obvious questions as to whether David Moyes should have brought in a few more numbers rather than blowing his transfer budget on one player, Mauroanne Fellaini.
However, regarding Anichebe, I am appauled that the FA have taken no further action against Kevin Nolan. It was his disgusting challenge and the worst challenge I have seen in years, let alone this season, that has ended Anichebe's season. Maybe someone should write a letter to the FA to vent our major disappointment at this, because I can't help but feel that, if this had happened to a higher profiled player, then further action would have been taken and the offender in question would have been slated over and over again.
I know he does have a lot of critics, but there is no place in the game for challenges like Nolan's. Get well soon Vic!

It is about time that the FA took a stronger stance on players who are red carded for dangerous play that puts an opposing player out of action. In my opinion, the culprit should be banned from playing until the victim is fully fit or the culprits team should pay the victims wages until they are fully fit (or maybe both).
This will make the cloggers think twice before they throw in the rash challenges that are becoming all too common.
you usually make some good points on here but that is the stupidest comment you?ve ever made.
Big Vic once he?d had his wings clipped by Moyes and was brought down to earth could have made a massive contribution to the rest of our season.
In fact he would have made a big impact against the other "Allardyce" thugs last night by playing wide right or up top.
Its now a squad game, where as the rules are more or less the same when you had two named subs and a squad of 20.
Players would think twice with a 6 match ban for a Nolan style challenge, or callously collecting yellow cards like Vidic did with Martins last night.
With prolonged time out of the squad, their place wont be certain on return. Differing situation of course, but who’d have though Yobo would be bench boy for so long?
Thats the dumbest post I’ve ever seen on TW
I don’t think Nolan is a dirty player or meant to injure Vic but it doesn’t stop his tackle from being a terrible one and he should be punished in line with the injury he has inflicted.
This way, it might actually make players think before they launch into wreckless challenges.
Jay ? surely some of my posts that Mr Kenrick has had to remove were more stupid than the above one :D
Dave ? behave. There was a guy posting on here who wanted to sell the whole squad, get relegated and use all the cash to rebuild Goodison. Then there?s the many names of Gerrard Madden and don?t forget the few who still think Kirkby is a good idea. These people will be gutted to lose the title of dumbest posting on TW to me :)
Im not arguing that the tackle was a disgrace and Nolan deserves an extended ban and I hope Big Vic comes back next season like he did when he first came onto the scene.
COYB!
There was no attempt to play the ball, it was pre-meditated and evil. It’s consequences could (and in reality, should) have been far worse. How Anichebe didn’t suffer fractures to tibia & ankle, as well as a busted knee socket, is sheer chance. But even the kid’s undoubtedly strong legs couldn’t prevent serious damage to his knee due to the brute force of the stamp.
I admire Moyes’ tolerance and suppression of anger. But frankly if one can’t get angry about something like that then is it really worth carrying on.
The FA will say that the referee dealt with it at the time & Nolan will serve a 3-game ban. That’s irrelevant. Contrary to what some misguided posters have said on here, sport is not protected from the laws of the land. If Nolan did what he did in a bar then he’d be inside for at least 6 months. It’s unfortunate that, on such rare occasions, football doesn’t see the greater good and try to eliminate pre-meditated violence by showing the potential consequences (e.g. 6 months in jail).
It’s sad that they are so far up their own arses on things like respect to referees and they overlook rather more important things like how to improve decision making and how to eliminate the rather more serious element of sporting violence.
My original post was ott, but your views are normally well respected, lets just say that IMO, your post wasnt your best offering
Your wrong, Vic played during our purple patch, ok him and DM fell out at one stage and he missed a couple of games, but Moyes now see’s him as the best right sided player we have, which of course he is, we are desperate for his power now.
Gosling doesnt lift his head and cant see whats around him, VDM is shot and Osman isnt the answer.
Regardless of how you rate Vic he’d have been an automatic choice under the current circumstances, we are running out of players.
Difficult to argue, but there is something not right about St James Park these days, for years Geordies were renowned for their love and knowledge of the game, it was always a pleasure to sink a pint - or two - in their company.
But there is a menevolence about the place now, you can sense the ill will and spite as soon as you get near the ground.
The incredible volume of abuse aimed at Young Rodwell and Gosling for needing treetment, after a couple of horror tackles was truely shocking. the abuse directed at victor for "play acting" whilst applauding Nolan off the pitch demonstated a collective thuggery both on and off the park. were talking about the hole stadium here, not a minority.
These are the same drunken louts who were getting the pubs closed all along County Rd last season because they could not behave themselves after being welcomed in
As I type this I hear on the radio you have support from no less a man than Arsne Wenger - he wants an instant 10 match ban for this sort of tackle
I’d settle for natural justice myself, seeing Newcastle relegated will do for me
