Morning result is good for us.

I was pleased with this morning's result (Man Utd 1- 4 Liverpool), not because I want the dark side to get a win, but because it will keep both of them interested in the league.

The teams we do care about ? Villa and Arsenal ? both have to vist Anfield and Old Trafford. I was worried that the league will be over by then so they might get an easy ride, but for the moment that danger has gone. Hopefully Villa and Arsenal will come away with nothing from these games, which will make our 4-point deficit not so hard to make up - COYB

I love Everton more than I hate the shite, so Manure losing is a good result. If the league gets competitive, that can only help us when we play Manure in the FA-CUP.

I can’t stand either of them, but have to admit I was "cheering", no, hoping for a home victory today. I detest a Liverpool victory under any circumstances .

I ask supporters when they finish here, to have a quick look at ITV teletext page 418 I think it is, and have a good read, that is all I will say, it’s the one with the supporters airings, and it makes for interesting reading, today being extra special. Even some Everton posts may slip in but I haven’t had a chance since the final whistle to look.

And look out for Lee from Huyton, (EFC) always there every time, which I find a bit strange as they must have thousands of names to choose between but he keeps making an appearance. Wonder if he uses Toffeeweb?! See for yourselves.

The RS have taken six points of United and Chelsea as well as draws at the Emirates and Villa Park this season yet they are still 4 points behind with Utd having a game in hand. However, I never want the other lot to win at anytime especially while they still have a mathematical chance of winning the PL.

Stand by for all the loveable reds proclaimiing what a great manager they have and how they all knew they?d get it right when it mattered. But only a fortnight ago they lost at Boro all the reds were saying how bad they were.

I am so glad that I?m a Blue and don?t have to watch Stevie G lar bigging it up in what they consider their most important match of the season. By the way it?s page 414 on ITV if you need a good laugh from time to time reading out of town supporters spouting about how good the RS or depending on the result how bad they are.

I just don?t get it. How can your hatred of Liverpool be greater than your love of Everton? I spend my time between games working out which results are best for Everton. Liverpool winning takes away United's feeling of invincabilty, damages their confidence, and most importantly means that they have to keep putting out full-strength sides in the league and potentially weakening their semi-final side. Liverpool have won a game; they will not win the league. This was a good result for Everton, no question.

It?s not impossible for the dark side to win the league and today?s result has only helped them hang on to hope. But, how exactly has it helped the Blues?

I would have preferred United to go unbeaten until they played us at Wembley and then we turned them over. In fact, today?s result may well give United the kick up the backside they may have needed and spur them on even more.

I just don?t see how a victory for the other lot, especially by that scoreline, is good for Everton, no matter how much we love the Blues or dislike the reds.

Anthony, exactly like I explained. It?s good for us because the two teams we can overtake to get into the Champions League both have to go to Liverpool and Man Utd, and if the league is in doubt those two will keep putting max effort in to win/

If Man U had won today and Chelsea slip up tomorrow, then the league is over as a competition and Man U and Liverpool will not bust a gut to win their remaining games. Villa and Arsenal might play an experimental Man U team and the crap second string from Liverpool.

Plus I hadn?t thought of the effect on the semi-final pointed out in several replies ? it can only be good for us that Man U have to keep working at the league.

All you guys who never want Liverpool to win another game - what about their games against Villa and Arsenal? You?re no Everton fan if you want them to lose these.

Peter Hall - fuck you - who the hell are you to suggest that because I don’t agree with you then that makes me any less of an Evertonian than you.

I do not ever want Liverpool to win another game - no matter how important and what hangs on it.

I hate those red bastards with a passion and wish them nothing but bad luck and do not want them ever to have the opportunity to say we only did x, y or z because they beat Villa or Arsenal for us.

Don’t ever presume to make judgements for other people.

Mike Byrne, what if Everton had a chance to win the league on the last day of the season, and our title rivals had to lose to give us any chance of winning the league. And our title rivals were playing Liverpool.

Would you still want liverpool to lose?

Mike these RS fans really piss me off when they call us bitter, even when we have good reason to be, but I would have to agree with them about you, cutting off your nose to spite your face comes to mind.

Fuck the red rats, I hate them with a passion and all their two-pint drinkin armchair snide supporters: ?Why arent you at the game today?? "Err... I couldn't get a ticket/couldn't afford it..."

Hmm I've been on the dole a month now but I STILL find a way to watch my team AND I?ll be at the semi AND the final when we beat those Manc tramps. Everton is me and I am Everton and I will be with them no matter what the situation.

1=20 is correct ? Forever Everton.

Alan (Liverpool have no chance, terrible defending) Hansen was almost creaming himself praising them and slagging Rooney off. Once a kopite always a kopite...

Is a 4-1 win better than a 3-0 win? It must be because, according to MOTD today's result was the worst home defeat for Man U in the Premier League. They must have forgotten that we beat them 3-0 in their very first Premiere League game at Old Trafford...

Still on MotD... 6 nominations for goal of the month for February and 2 Everton goals feature: Jo's against Bolton and Saha's against WBA. I can't remember the last time we had a third of the entries.

From a tactical point of view, we (EFC) don?t want the league title over & done with, it keeps Manure, the Redshite, Villa, Chelsea & the Arse on their toes, which, gives us a better cup & league points chance.

I think Peter Hall is being objective here. We have 9 games to go in the league and a semi against Man Utd. If the title is decided, but for the pushing and shoving, in advance of our semi and the Villa and the Arsenal?s games against both Man Utd and Liverpool, then they quite conceivably could play inferior line-ups concentrating on the other competitions instead. The result yesterday, as stomach-wretching as it was, not only keeps things alive league-wise, but should also fire both of ?em to push on harder, against our direct competitors for 4th spot and a place in the cup final.

I reserve a special passion of hatred for the Shyte. It?s an emotion. Emotions are illogical. I agree with Peter on this one. Should the Shyte beat Villa, then I?ll be slightly less gutted than usual as it hinders Villa?s progress. We all know they ain't guna win the league, and the closer they get to it and fail, the funnier it is. 2nd place is the first of the losers!!

Games against Pompey and Wigan up next before our trip to Villa Park. 6 points from those games and I think we will go into Villa match above them in the league.

No matter how much I hate the redshite, that result went some way to help us, if the season was effectively over then Old Red Nose could rest loads of their players and be extremely fresh for the semi-final.

Now, as it is, they still have to win probably most of their games which means playing the big guns most of the time.

Now, who wants the Red Shite to either draw or beat Villa next week, knowing Villa then have to go to Old Trafford?

Mistake by O?Neil to forgo the Uefa Cup. We then take them out in the FA Cup. Loosing mentality sets in. I would prefer a draw at Anfield.
