This is just a short letter, where i am glad to say 3 Everton players are in the England national side. I was starting to wonder if Capello's glasses were on the blink.
Much deserverd and a big well done to the phenomenal Baines, awesome Jags, and the always reliable Lescott. And chin up Everton fans, we've had one bad result, nothing else... hopefully the international break will give some of our other players time to recharge the batteries and get back on another great run to the finish line.

Quite some achievement... especially considering the ever larger foreign contingent. So when was the last time? 1985? I'm thinking it must have been Mexico 1970.
1986 Year of the World Cup and the famous hand of God, my memory recalls an England squad that consisted of Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven, Peter Reid, Gary Lineker and possibly Paul Bracewell (or was he injured by this point ?). We know what happened during that tournament, Lineker won the golden boot and packed his bags for Barcelona, unfortunately a scenario at the time brought about by the European ban and the ultra-conservative transfer policy operated by Philip Carter at the time.
Hand of God Year - Wilkins sent off, Robson injured - in came the Toffees, bossed Poland with a hatrick for Lineker. Bracewell injured and not in squad. Maradona wouldn?t have had a free run for his second if Brace had been in.
And all defenders too... It just goes to show that the best way to achieve success is to have a solid defence... This will be Moyes?s legacy at the club together with 4-5-1. Not surprising considering he was a centre-half!
In my eyes, a fully fit Tony Hibbert could have also recieved a call-up. His form before his injury has been nothing short of sensational. I never ever thought I would say that!!!

I fully agree and I never thought I?d say that!
Echoes of 1970... And then season 1970-71... Bollocks to England!
Guys, I know we lost but let’s at least get Bainsey the Goal of the Week accolade! The poll is on the bottom right-hand side. The Shite’s left-footer is currently miles ahead, but we can change that.

Great to see the lads in the squad but not worried if they play or not due to possible injuries. We have had more than enough this season. However, I would like to see Capello have the guts to leave out the likes of Gerrard an Lampard, who have very rarely produced club form at England level.
1986 World Cup. Paul Bracewell replaced an exhausted Peter Reid during the second half of the Argentina match. The change should have been made at half-time as Reid was already tiring. Maradonna would never have been able to run half the pitch with a fresh Bracewell at his ankles. Stevens, Steven and Lineker where also in the squad.
Reid got as close to Maradonna as Labone did to Gerd Muller!!!
Brian Garside... Let me know what you're ale your on. Bracewell was never at the World Cup because he was injured.

Not being a smart arse... well I am... but fuck me you must have vivid dreams mate!!
Radio 5 talking about the 3 players called up for England tonight:
They spoke at length about Ledley ? Knee Injury
They spoke at length about Ben ? Second Choice
They didn?t say anything about Leighton Baines
Great and unbiased reporting as usual...
For all Baines’ attacking game, he’s actually not a very good defender. He’s too small, no bite in the tackle, no fire in the belly, and his positioning is wrong. Lescott has bailed him out most of the time.
Still, looks good going forward, and can whip in good crosses (he should hit them earlier, taking too much time on them recently)
What is all the rubbish about baines lack of inches...full backs do not need to be tall. Pace and agility is needed most..Look at the great full backs over the years..Kenny sansom, Cole, Evra, Tommy Wright, Alex parker etc etc..We have tall central defenders and everyone defends set pieces so I really dont follow this height deficiency logic at all..getting up and down the touch line and supporting the attacking players is what todays full back is all about. Baines crosses the ball better than most and is better on the ball than most of the team too...

Well done to the boys for earning call ups to the England squad. I’m made up Leighton Baines has been included as it was not so long ago people were slating him on here and talking about selling him. I never doubted his ability after seeing him for Wigan and England under 21’s, it’s great to see him put his injury troubles behind him and get an extended run in the team.
I can’t remember the last full back Everton had that was so effective going forward as Leighton Baines and he has a bit of pace too! Good luck to them all for England and let’s hope they carry on where they have left off for Everton!
Just goes to show how many foriegn defenders there are in the Prem. With Hibbo playing we are the only team in the Prem to boast an English back four. Congratulations to Jags, Joleon and a big well done to Bainsey ? you have well earned your call up. We have done well at the back this season and its all down to sheer effort and determination. Let's kick on with the highest prem finish possible and stuff the Mancs at Wembley.
I?mpretty sure that we had three players in an England squad recently enough. AJ, Pip and Joleon were all named in the same squad.
Now to get three of them on the pitch at once ? that would be a great achievement!!
