What a brilliant result, girls

Comments (13)

I know that some of our fans are pretty abusive and/or non-plus when it comes to comments regarding the Everton Ladies, but I'd still like to add my congratulations to them on a brilliant achievement today......

The longest unbeaten run in the history of the Women's Premier League was ended as Everton won 3-0 at Arsenal today. The Gunners, champions for the last five seasons, had not lost in the league in a 108-game sequence that stretched back to October 2003.

Everton are six points behind leaders Arsenal with three games in hand. Well done girls - you have done the Everton name proud.

I was at the game yesterday and I have to say that not only did the girls deserve to win but they were easily the better team on the day. The quality of football on view was remarkably high - the girls tackled hard, passed well and ran as if their lives depended on it.

Well done to Mo Marley and her team - we should all be very, very proud of them!

Hat?s off to our ladies, at least one team?s making a fight of it. Makes the league look like a joke when one team can go unbeaten for 108 games!!!

It?s a pity they got beat by them last week in the cup. Hopefully this season they can stop the domination in the league by the Arsenal ladies.

Well done to the ladies’ team! Keep up the good work til season’s end and you will end the Arsenal’s domination (for this season at least)!

Having seen the Ladies play, the standard of football is refreshingly high and lacks the foul language, spitting and gamesmanship all too prevalent in the mens’ game (although I think the Everton mens’ teams tend to be much lower in the league table for that kind of behaviour compared to others).

I took my daughter to watch the Ladies against Millwall in the cup a few seasons ago (away at Carshalton Athletic). She was in her Everton kit and the team made her mascot for that match. A simple gesture which can mean so much to children and helps forge the future bond between fan and club. She was delighted and may be the only girl to have been mascot for both the mens’ and ladies’ teams, having been mascot away at Chelsea the year before (4-0 thumping, even with the Roonster playing).

If only that success could translate itself to the male team where it really counts. Still good on them.

I’m not sure they should bother their pretty, little heads about doing things like winning trophies.

Take a leaf out of the men’s team, dears ... !

I hope they win the league and get the last game on telly, any reason to be able to watch Rachel Unitt...... hubba hubba!

Anyone else think Jill Scott?s a bit tasty? As a defender... ahem! Hopefully with Arsenal losing their best player to the US, Everton can press home their advantage and close out the remaining games. Think there?s a home game to come against Arsenal, TBA. More of the same and Arsenal can concentrate on their cups!

I think why don't they play at Goodison 2 hours before kick off of the men's game? I think some supporters would get there early to see the girls play? And the pitch wouldn't be too wrecked would it?

I am surprised that no-one has brought out the "dribbling in the box" comment before now.

Credit where credit is due. Well done to the ladies who are at least making it a two horse race.

We were a bit lucky in the league cup final but defended bravely. Now it looks like we actually have a stronger team than them, hopefully we can win the league.

Keep up the good work ladies.

I’ve constantly got an eye out for their scores. Knew we’d do ’em this year. Smith’s left, they’re flucked.
