Timmy keeps the bench warm!!

Comments (21)

Just a quick one to tell fellow Blues that Tim Cahill never came on the pitch for the Ozzies last night in their World Cup qualifier... he was warming up but he never came on, thank Christ.

So let's hope he doesn't stub his toe on the flight home in the morning, chasing the dolley trolley for a tinny!! And comes back with guns blazing to lead us to victory on Sunday and helps us push on for the remainder of the season ? with a winner v United in the semi doing nicely!!!

COYB!!

I am glad to see Timmy never got on the pitch for the Aussies. Let's hope he comes back on Sunday and gives us that much-needed bite in attack we lack at the moment. Let's hope he gets his kangaroo legs jumping for every ball in the opposition area and grabs us a winning goal... COYB

Let's hope the long haul flying doesn?t affect his performance either.

Timmy would still find a way of leaping higher than most on the pitch if he arrived straight off the plane and still had both suitcases in his hand!

It was a very big call by Pim Verbeek not to play Cahill. Australia were shite in the first half and if it was me as manager I would have been looking to bring on Cahill at half time. He didn’t and when he did make a sub, it was Josh Kennedy brought on after 60 mins. Fortunately that move worked well and Kennedy scored (great header!) and then we got a dodgy peno to cruise to a win. So, either PV was being very kind to Everton or Cahill is still not 100%. I hope it was the former.

It obviously must’ve been the latter, though, Ciaran. BTW with all the talk on this site about Yakubu moving on, we could do worse than attempt to sign Kennedy. His scoring record in Germany is not impressive, but his record for the Socceroos is 7 in 12. But really, he is an old fashioned target man not a goal poacher. And unlike Yak and Vic, he is industrious and not high maintenance (in summary, a long haired Ferguson without the drama). We could really benefit from his size and ability to hold up or nod on the ball for the likes of Cahill, and he’d add to the threat that we already pose in the box with the likes of Tim and Fella.

You could hear Cahill’s disappointment after the game in not playing. He said he was fine to play which is at least great news for us for this weekend against Wigan.

I think Moyes must have asked the Australian management not to play him if possible. So once the first aussie goal went in, there wasn’t much chance our Timmy was going to be put on.

What's wrong with Tim as a name or Tiger?
This is our tough Aussie hard man and calling him "Timmy" or "Tiny" makes him sound like a fucken ladies hair dresser.
Stop it!

I’m with you, Dave. If he was 5-0 maybe I could understand it but He’s 5-9 FFS! Henceforth, we shall call him "Tiger" Tim Cahill.

Dave and Michael, no Aussie male: (a) goes by the name "Timmy" or (b) is called "Tiny" unless they are Hells Angel and about 7ft/120kg.

Glad this issue has been raised, it?s not a big one but then again we are in a break at the moment. I know he gets called Timmy or Tiny out of endearment but he is probably our toughest and most aggressive player, Neville being the only competition. Plus if you look over his stats we have smaller players and they don?t get called Tiny. Down here in Australia it is rare for him to be called Timmy.

Russell, don?t forget that Neville is routinely referred to as Pip on this and other sites... Perhaps it?s a Charles Dickens thing? We?re clearly an educated bunch.

You're all right. Timmy is a shite name and quite gay at that... and he certainly aint that. I do apologize for insulting our talisman. How about "Tyson" Tim, as he packs a punch when he scores!!!!

Cahil was an unused sub while only Jag got 2 plus minutes last night. I know I'm selfish but isn't it great that our boys will be back fit and not knackered?

I'm sure Lescot and Baines will be raring to have a go at Wigan and in the remaining matches to prove to Capello that they deserve a run out for England. I'm sure none of them wanted to be a passenger but I guess it will only do us good in the remainder of the season. Chin up boys and keep plugging it.

The only worrying thing is Pim Verbeek said he was limping quite badly when he got there and that EFC should be pleased he decided not to use him.

Just hope he?s fit to start on Sunday after that round the world waste of time.

From the Toffeeweb’s latest Aussie Interview with the Blue Kangaroo link:

Interviewer: Would you ever consider a move to Liverpool if they came in for you?
Tim: Never. Never, never. No money in this world could convince me to play for Liverpool. That’s not a lack of respect for Liverpool supporters or the football club. It’s respect for the Everton supporters. You just can’t do that. It goes against everything that I stand for. No chance.

I think ’Legend’ Tim fits quite well.

I think the name Chin Him Tim would be a good name so when he scores he can chin the oppisition instead of the corner flag. COYB

I wonder why we celebrate when Jags gets 2 minutes for England and moan about the fact that Lescott and Baines sat on the bench, but are hugely relieved when Tim doesn’t play for Australia...
