09/10 kits

Comments (31)

Just a little distraction from the massive game on Sunday, it looks like pictures of Phil Neville and Tim Howard posing in our next season's Le Coq Sportif kit have been relesed and they look as flat and unimaginative as a witches bosoms. Can we stay with Umbro please...?

Update: Brian Richardson (below) posted this link to full previews of the kits in all their highly dubious "glory" at BlueKipper — Editorial Team

That link is useless - you can see the shirts (not the tracky top!) here:

Three comments:

1) The home kit seems fine. Nice nod to the 25th anniversary of all things 84-85. Full marks.

2) Colour scheme for away kit seems somewhat odd and garish but is obviously a retro-heritage nod to "The Black Watch" and all that; so on that basis it works in an esoteric kinda way.

3) The design for the away kit is one of the meffiest things I?ve ever seen and, frankly, someone at EFC needs shooting with rusty explode-on-impact bullets.

I confidently predict that the away kit will be retailing for £5.99 by Christmas which will, roughly, still be £5.99 too much.

I think it looks great.... as long as we have the white socks as well, of course. I ’d like to see the whole kit before I give it my total seal of approval though.

The Away shirt is not everybody’s cup of tea, but then again nor is luminous yellow/green either is it? I think though that the ladies will love it with the pink in it and I’m sure that this is part of the thinking. Rather clever if you ask me.

They are flamming awful.

Whoever agreed to go with LCS really does need shooting. Small minded decision for a club who should be looking up.

As for the 25-year thing on the team of 84/85 ? that is stupid. Surely we should be looking at making new history? Especially as the (albeit successful) kits of that era were awful.

Pink Shirts for men!

Well a well known local hockey club play in Pink, picking on the link with the shimps of Parkgate. An old mate of mine was in the Neston team that won the English Cup and they got into Europe as a result. They arrived at one away match down south ? heard all the sniggers from the home team about the pink shirts and promptly hacked them off the park.

After all in football you can kick someone but it is illegal. In hockey you can "accidently" hit them with a piece of wood and it is legal. Neston won 3-0 and stuffed the Pink Shirts comments well and truly down their throats. The comments fired them up to show they were a tough bunch.

Just looking forward to someone telling Our Tim the pink suits him...

I love the away kit, even though it is a bit ?busy? ? the home kit is WAY to plain, if not boring. I don't like the vee-neck. a collar would have been great...

Everton are always coming out about how we are moving forward on the pitch and also off the pitch, but this just seems to be a step backward, why not Nike? ? the biggest shirt seller in the UK, massive in fashion and very popular? Have you seen many people wear Le Coq Sportif gear on the street? I certainly haven't! Not since the 90s!! I just don't understand why we have gone with them?!?! not a happy blue.....

On a lighter note... the semi! :) going to be the biggest match of the season for us except the final of course! ;) I'm extremely confident... 2-1 to the Blues, Cahill and Fellaini to score!!

Nothing against Le Coq Sportif but why could we have not got Nike? A lot of their training gear is top class, as is Puma. Glad we got away from the boring Umbro. Sick of having the same kit as West Ham away kit every season...

It's hard to say what the jersey is like without seeing the whole kit but it's not about the kit but who's wearing it and I reckon Mounthino would look well in that kit, as would Jo.....

The home shirt is okay. The away shirt is a disgrace ? it should be yellow, NOT black and pink! >What does the third shirt look like?

Can't see what the issue is; the home kit is okay and let's face it whatever they did there, there would be someone to moan about it. The away kit is different but do we all remember the NEC salmon pink and Blue kit in 1995 approximately, that was one of the most popular second kits in history.

We have also got to remember that every shirt sold we will get the benefit, the club, so stop bloody moaning we will all still buy them, hands up who has the third kit now, you know the bright yellow one... Chelsea's second strip.

Now, correct me if I?m wrong... but the reason I believe we?ve not gone for Nike or Adidas (my preference) as kit make it simple. Money.

Sporting companies usually pay clubs to wear their kit and chances are Nike or Adidas weren?t interested or, most likely, weren?t offering enough for us to go with them.

I have to agree though, I?d rather the kit be original than harking back to our 80s glory years.

The home top is ok, the away top, for some reason, I thought it looked alright..

Not sure why, so going to go have a long lie down.

Surprisingly... I love both kits! It’s not your everyday stuff and definitely stands out against the standard kit that every other club is putting out.

Hummmmm, can?t decide. Kits always seem to look better in reality than these pictures anyway. Thought the current home shirt looked poor from these previews, got one for my birthday and I love it...... always have liked Umbro kits, not sure about Le Coq, always seemed a bit second rate to me...

Both kits are an absolute disgrace. Who the hell thinks these things up? I remember getting the home top in 85 but that was 85 not 09. 09-10 will be the first season I can remember when I will not be buying the shirt.

The design of Umbro’s new England kit looks great and will be the blueprint for 2009-2010 teams. Pity we changed kit makers when they seem to have finally tried something a bit different. I didn’t buy the 1984 kit because I thought it was fugly. So no chance in hell of me buying this one.

Why not Nike, Adidas, Puma or Kappa? An aspirational brand to match the clubs aspirations and not a brand seen in Sports World's Discount stores. The big brands may not pay us as much to have them but we would sell more. Image is everything in this plastic world of ours.

About to set off for Wembley and all yaz can do is moan about a friggin kit! Some people will just find anything to complain about... get a life will ya!

Yeh, let's all boycot the kit and then we?ll have even less revenue coming in... great idea, lads!

Incidentally, I think I might not renew my season ticket coz my seat is white and not blue.

We?ve gone with LCS probably because they offered a fiver more ? that's the Everton way. No imagination to think that if we?d have tried to get Adidas or Nike we might actually get leisure wear that the fans will want to buy. So we?ll get the usual number of shirt sales but no more.

LCS stuff is only sold in cheap shops like Sports Direct & JJB, fashion conscious kids shop in JD sports etc. Still It's what I expect from our club. After we let Puma slip away, we almost signed with Diadora because they offered a fraction more.

Home kit seems nice. But as for the away kit, as Andy Gray would say, "Would you look at the state of that!" And why the fuck have we got Le Coq Sportif? Surely we could get a better make than that with better funds for us... eg, Nike, Addidas, Versace. Come on, get a grip. COYB

Stop making comments on how lovely the shirts are, this is not the kit ? it's a rendition of what the kit ?could? look like. And as for the link showing Neville in a training jersey, what a waste of time that was.

Wait until the kit designs are posted and official before making a comment; for all we know, these images are fakes that are ?leaked? so that people get upset and, when the ?real? kits are released, people are impressed as they are better than the fakes.
