Cahill the convert

Comments (15)

After reading Tim Cahill's latest interview by proud Evertonian Brian Viner I was filled with pride with what I read. Every time Cahill opens his mouth in public, he does himself proud in Evertonian eyes. It's almost as if he grew up on County Road, rather than Samoa then Oz. He seems to be the latest 'outsider' to be fully converted into 'one of us' ? like Ferguson before him and to some extent Mikel Arteta alongside him.

There seems to be an intense loyalty amongst the current squad, that in football's current climate I would go as far as calling unusual. Look at three key players such as Jagielka, Lescott and Arteta ? all highly rated and all on the cusp of international recognition. Normally this would mean seeking Champions League football elsewhere, but I can't imagine a single one of these lads putting in a transfer request.

There is something unique about Everton that seems to inspire if not a change of loyalty then at least a life-long affection. Big Dunc might not have looked a likely poet on the pitch, but his recent speech summed it up very nicely. We modern football fans have been forced into becoming very cynical... so, in this age, to me, Cahill and ilk are a true inspiration.

This guy is a role model to the rest of the many petulant winging tarts who mince around Premier League pitches.

Amazing how he can keep rooted so far from his home. Many English players wouldn?t piss on their own if they were on fire.

Deserves to score on Sunday to place himself in our history books. Dignity... How rare.

Nice one, Ian. I feel the same pride. Tim Cahill is a world famous star, he has that winning Aussie mentality, yet he always comes across as a humble respectful man. He and Arteta have led by example both on and off the pitch, other players are beginning follow their lead. How fitting it would be, if Cahill was to confirm our on the field revival by scoring the winner tomorrow.

Mind you, the lads on the St End really do need to work on a better chant to celebrate his goals.

Being a Phuket Blue, I meet alot of Aussies over here; soccer is taking off big style in Australia and Tim has to take credit for putting Everton on their map. He is the forerunner in promoting Aussie soccer and setting up local academies... whenever Tim's name is mentioned then so is ours, invaluable.

Great bloke, great blue!

With regards to a chant for Tim Cahill, totally agree that the current one is hopeless. How about:

Timmy, Timmy, Timmy the Blue Kangaroo ? to the tune of Skippy the Bush Kangaroo?

Younger fans, ask your Dad!!!

Cahill is becoming an Everton legend. His attitude is superb, and check the facts, with him in the team we win far more than we do without him. Should be vice captain without a doubt.

I agree Norman, while Neville must be very good on the training ground and around the dressing room to earn such admiration from Moyes, Cahill is one of our leaders on the pitch and seems to inspire those around him on the pitch more than most.

My Grandson lives and works in Sydney OZ, he emails me on a regular basis. Sorry to say he is a Manure fan, but his last email was all about Timmy. He said how he is revered as a sporting icon in Oz and also added, he thinks the Manure could get turned over on Sunday!! Lets hope for once a United fan is right. COYB

Seamus; Big Dunc said about how proud he was when given the captaincy and that once you play for Everton, you forget the other clubs you have played for. Pure Class.
Gotta agree with the words about Timmy though. My lad is 5 this year, and I’ll be getting him into football now. I’d gladly have him use Tim Cahill as a fooballing role model.

Love the guy, pure class.

Talking about a new Cahill song, what about this to the tune of the Vidic song:

Tim Cahill woo oo
Tim Cahill woo oo
He comes from Australia
He?ll fucking score against ya!!

Cahill song to the Skippy tune:

Timmy, Timmy, Timmy the Blue Socceroo;
Timmy, Timmy, Timmy the Blue Socceroo;
He pops up in all the holes,
Likes to score plenty of goals,
Tim Cahill is dynamite and he hates the red shite.

Then repeat again...
