We can do it!

Comments (13)

I?ve got a real buzz for this one, it feels like ?95 when it just seemed destined... our name was on it that year. I remember the string of 1-nil scraps in the league to drag us away from relegation and then that semi against spurs ? my god, that day will live with me forever!

1995 was also my first year at Liverpool Uni (that?s the real uni- not John Moores, haha!) I grew up in Kent and being the only Evertonian I knew- you can imagine my motivation for choosing Liverpool Uni and I fell in love with the city and the people along with my club.

People always ask why Everton? as there weren?t any other Evertonians in my family, friends, or 100 mile radius of where I grew up... but my reply is always simple:- Evertonians are born, not made.

I emigrated at 25 to Oz but every trip home I always have a weekend in Liverpool and a game at Goodison ? with my last being the 7-1 win over Sunderland, last season.

I know we can do it on Sunday ? United aren?t in the best form and hopefully tired from Porto. And the passing and movement I saw last week against Villa was among the best I have seen.

COYB!! Let?s all hope Tim Howard has learnt how to catch in the last week and the Fat Granny stabber misses a sitter!....and by the way, Wayne, it does run deep.

Oh, one more piece from Oz before I go, having read the linked Timmy Cahill article in the Independent- you will be pleased to know he also did one with The Age (the prominent paper in Melbourne) while he was over here the other week for the Socceroos- he again spoke about how David Moyes was the one who came in for him, payed the money and gave him his chance and how much he loves Everton.

And then was the response to a certain Question posed by the reporter- emblazoned across the page in bold text, it read:

Never. Never, never. No money in the world could convince me to play for Liverpool. It goes against everything I stand for.

Come on Boys! We can do it!

Totally agree, there is ring about this year.... backs against the wall with losing Mikel and the Yak but we have come out fighting et al ? "Dogs of War" although we are a better footballing side than ?95 ? we are destined..... Moyes is a superb manager. He needs to prove that now. I think we can nick a 1-0... Fellaini or Cahill to do the damage. We?ll show the Manc cunts!!

COME ON BLUES!

I’ve managed to get a ticket for tomorrow’s game and I’ve been sucking throat sweets all day in preparation.

Come on Blues, let’s not stop singing from start to finish.

It doesn’t seem like 14 years since we last lifted the FA cup, maybe we’ve seen a lot of papers and news and archive footage of late that makes events seem nearer.

Won’t be at Wembley tomorrow, so whatever happens I know those of you going will be having a banner time in the capital, and some beverages may be consumed, so keep safe and let’s beat the opposition at wembley - again -

The nerves have not started just yet, but tomorrow afternoon the adrenaline will be pumping. It’s up for grabs now.

I have been streaming highlights of our recnt past to get in the mood (Gosling?s goal, Cahill's scissor kick at Chelsea, etc). It will either be 1-0 to us or 1-5 to them and Riley.

Ferguson might rest most of his first team tomorrow. With no Rooney, Ronaldo or Van der Sar, an opportunity to make history beckons.

Tim Cahill is quality and pure class, and is going to continue to be a wonderful ambassador for Australia, Everton and himself for the rest of his days. The Age interview that Mark quotes from is a must read for all Evertonians. It?s really terrific stuff, and gives you an idea of the sort of terrific guy Tim Cahill really is.
It?s available at http://www.theage.com.au/news/executive-style/culture/shooting-star-tim-cahill/2009/04/02/1238261697726.html

My favourite passage is the one quoted in Mark's original e.mail, but a good second is
"DR: Do you think you might have won more honours and recognition if you?d gone to a bigger club?
TC: Is the grass always greener? Is it the right situation for you and your family and you as a player? I feel that I am achieving a lot at Everton. It?s unfortunate that I haven?t won them big awards. But who knows? Maybe one day. But beating Liverpool is like winning an FA Cup. Once you?ve played for Everton and know what it is to be a Blue, then you know what it means to beat Liverpool.

Ask not what Everton can do for you; ask what you can do for Everton.

Would like to wish David Moyes and the lads the best of luck, and no matter what the result, we still be proud.

Glad you liked the post. The article about Tiny was titled- Tim Cahill: our greatest ever footballer? Now remember, this is an Australian newspaper- and the answer is a simple-Yes! Certainly better than that twat who played for the reds and his bloody predator boots, piss off!

Anyway, I have a problem, being in Australia there is no TV coverage of the game- not even Murdoch?s Foxtel! The only FA cup game they show over here is the final.

So it?s our biggest game since ?95 and I can?t watch it!! Only 10 hours to go and the nerves are starting, the bloods boiling and I can?t think about anything else....

Does anyone out there know a website that will be streaming the game??

COYB!!

P.S. in response to other threads, I may not be a scouser but I can Sing ?It?s a Grand Old Team?.....

Ha a penalty? With Mike Riley the ref, you must be joking!

1-0 Cahill in the 20th minute then a nerve racking 75 minutes.

Mark, it’s on Setanta (via Foxtel) in Melbourne. Will cost you $30 for a one month subscription.

It’ll definitely be on the net but I’ve just signed up as I’m not taking the chance.
