Who will wear Blue?

Comments (35)

Simple question ? who will be allowed to wear their home kit in the Final?

On FA website it lists the game as Chelsea vs Everton ? does this mean they are the 'home team'? I noted that United were allowed to wear their home kit with us having to change shorts/socks ? was this as a result of a toss or because of the home/away listing FA draw?

Another question: I wonder whether we will wear the new Le Coq Sportif kit for the final? There is probably not a hope in the world of us being able to buy said shirt within a month although current shirt supplies are at an all time low due to the imminent change... but if Everton want to make a few bob what an opportunity this represents to get the merchandise out there...

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Im sure they toss a coin or draw the two balls out of the hat and whoever wins gets to be classed as the home side and will wear the home kit. They will also get to have the home dressing room. I thought this would have been done by now but I cant find anything

They will insist we wear the Blue. Chelsea’s blue is a limp and sickly shade....ours is electric and buzzy...it will look better on the telly when Phil goes to snatch the cup from the Queen!

Seriously, there is no home side in the final because the final is not drawn. The finalists get there by winning the semis. It is done via a toss. We won the toss in 66 and lost it in 68. I don’t think any of our finals since have involved another team who have played in blue. (I think)

I?ve taken the time to think!

Watford... yellow

ManU.... red

RS.... sickly red

RS....sickly red

ManU.... red

It will be decided via a toss-up.

Yeah, it is listed as Chelsea vs Everton, but as far as I remember the decision for kits if there is a clash is done on a coin toss...

Hopefully we can wear blue. That would mean a lot to the team and the supporters for sure.

I doubt we will be able to get the Le Coq Sportif kit out in time for the final to the stores, but you never know.... the team may just wear it.

Mind you it wouldn’t be too bad if we lost the toss. That dayglo yellow will blind the buggers!

In honour of the fact our Ladies will have won their Premier League by then ? if we lose the toss we should play in the Pink Shirts.

It has been confirmed that we will have the opposite end of the ground to the one we had on Sunday. No comment has yet been made regarding which team will wear blue.

As I stood there yesterday waiting for the shoot out, surrounded by Mancs in their section I thought to myself:

?You know what, somehow United have won the toss for the kit and now they have won it for which end to take the kicks! Everton never get any luck on things like this.?

As Cahill blazed over and I stood there surrounded by screaming Mancs, I thought, ?Here We Go Again?... but then I thought, ?No. We always do it the hard way and we seem to relish the battle.? The rest is history.

No doubt we?ll be forced to wear dayglo or that crap white kit, no doubt we'll pick up a serious injury in the next few weeks and I already see that Chelsea have the ?lucky end?, but WTF, I still think we?re gonna do it. It?s our Year! COYB!!!!

For reference, when we won the cup in 94-95, we debuted the 95-96 kit in the cup final which was the only time we wore that particular kit with the NEC logo, switching to Danka for 95-96.

New kits are usually given their first airing in the final game of the season, but Garry is right and we did debut our new kit in the ’95 final but with the "old" sponsor.

If (not tempting fate here) we were to win and had to wear our away kit in the final, I’d like to think that we’d change into the Royal Blue shirts before we go up to lift the cup.

I seem to remember Barcelona doing this a few years ago (in a Champions league final ?) and it looked class. A real nod to tradition.

Everton will always be about Royal Blue as far as I’m concerned. I’ve been showing my 19 month old lad his Everton calendar every night before bed for months and saying "Ev-er-ton". He stares at it intently now and actually said the name for the first time tonight (Actually, it was more like "Ba-ba-don", but it’s close enough for me !)

Another one joins the Evertonian family. The poor little sod.

Quite simply, if we play in the FA Cup Final (and doesn’t that sound good!) in white, it will be an absolute disgrace. Everton’s home kit is blue-white-white, the away kit is yellow (or some shade of)-blue -yellow. End of.......
(Anybody know what the new away strip will be next year?)

Given we are playing Chelsea in mid-week, surely the two clubs will just toss a coin then and tell the FA who won and who will wear which strip?

Rob Gee ? the away kit next year, if articles and photos are to be believed is black with pink horizontal stripes. I kid you not. do a search on Google.

From what I have seen on the OS, we will meet Chelski in London for ticket allocation this week. I am guessing but they will most likely toss the coin there.

As for the new away strip I belive it?s black with salmon pin stripe. Sure I saw it somewhere from a link on TW.

John Taylor - you are spot on. I was at that game, the 1992 final, Barcelona v. Sampdoria at Wembley. It was a moving sight to see the winners slip on their beloved "blaugrana" (blue and red) above their yellow change strip as they mounted the steps to pick up their first European Cup.

If we do lose the toss for colours, make sure our kit man has a pile of blue ones on hand for the presentation!

Thinking back to 1968, both teams wore their away colours. We were in the amber & blue while WBA wore white shirts, shorts & red socks.

Firstly just to find out in advance like, who the final referee will be, can a stato please let us know who is the most Chelsea oriented ref, ta.

And along the lines of the above, not that I was there, but didn?t Dixie Dean score in a final in a White Shirt? Possibly the first time in the world that a number 9 scored!

Whether we wear Umbro or Le Coq Sportif will depend on the Umbro contract, i?d imagine. If it expires before 30th May then we?ll probably debut Le Coq.

In 1995, the matter was made somewhat easier by the fact that both the outgoing and incoming shirts were Umbro.

Regarding the ref... didn?t Wiley give Chelsea that pen at Liverpool a couple of years back? And after too many ?coincidentally? poor performances in Everton games I wouldn?t be surprised if it was him.

Otherwise, the FA seem to prefer Howard Webb for the big games.

Ah... so it was. Cheers for the reminder.

Yeah, you?re right about not wanting him... mind you I?m struggling to think of any ref who wouldn?t favour a Sky4 side over ourselves. Maybe that?s paranoia though?

Re: Kit Change ?95.
This was just a change of sponsor, the kit provider stayed the same ? Umbro. This time it maybe more complex as Umbro maybe contracted to a certain date ? unless Le Coq made them an offer?

I know we?re skint but surely we could afford to commission a special FA Cup Final strip? It would sell like hot cakes. Our current second strip is pretty awful ? assuming we don?t win the toss to wear our normal blue.

I think we?ll wear blue to be honest cos we deserve to! But if we don't then please god whatever happens do not let us wear that fucking security team kit! That would be so embarassing in the final, the white one will be fine! But good call on changing the shirt to our blue kit to pick up the trophy if we win, that would be class.

We are contracted to |Umbro until the end of the season so there is no chance of the Le Coq Sportif shirt being worn at Wembley. The kits to be worn will be decided by the toss of a coin. I think if we were to lose the toss, maybe what we wear on Wednesday night will be a clue for which kit we will have at Wembley.

On the discussion of what ref is likely for the final, if I remember correctly it is FA policy to only allow a referee to do the FA Cup Final once in their career.

So if you go through the list of past FA Cup finals refs - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FA_Cup_Final_referees - you’ll see that Styles, Bennett, Wiley, Riley and Mike Dean are out of the picture. It won’t be Chris Foy either, as he’s too local.

Leaves us with one of Howard Webb, Phil Dowd, Mark Halsey, Martin Atkinson, Andre Marriner and Peter Walton. There are other possibilities too, but judging by their lower amount of Premier League games this season, it’s unlikely they’d be trusted with the big one.

Take your pick!

Judging by the usual ideas from the FA the ref. for the Cup Final will be decided by a game of Rocks, Scissors, Paper between Mark Clattenburg and Uriah Rennie.

These are the only refs the FA believe have not upset any Premiership clubs this season.

Therefore according to FA logic they are the only available people for consideration.

Stranger things have happened....

Something just passed my mind, something that I think could be a really powerful and respected statement, and something that could get Everton's name a bit more recognition and respect.

IF we win the FA Cup this season, and IF the ladies team win the league, wouldn't it be a brilliant idea that when the bus drives through Liverpool with hordes of proud fans and media present, to also have a ladies bus or the ladies team on the men's team bus celebrating their achievement? What an exerience for the Ladies team that would be, thousands of fans cheering them on, it would never happen again. It would also celebrate Everton and separate Everton from the rest of Football, we are a true Football Club, and anyone who, male or female, who does service to the name of Everton deserves praise.

Nice one Fran ? totally agree. It was a great achievement for the Ladies to win the Cup last year and to win the league and break Arsenals dominance would be outstanding.

They deserve their day in the sun ? get them on the bus regardless of whether they win it or not.
