Jo

Is Jo eligible to play for us aganist City next weekend? I remember last year that Howard had to sit out the Utd game when on loan and wondered if the same applies to Jo?

I think I’m right in saying that, after the Howard debacle, the FA reviewed the rules and decided that loan players could not play against their parent club. Either way, I’ve defintely read somewhere that Jo will miss the City game.

With the fate of Jo hanging in the balance, we are actively looking for a striker. Saha is at best an impact player. The Yak should resume main striker duties, assume he gets back to full fitness. Vaughan is chomping at the bit, but I honestly think we need to give him competition to help him realise his potential. It's unlikely Jo will even come cheap. Even @ £10 million, that's a huge sum.

How about Santa Cruz, who has indicated that he wants to leave Blackburn? Maybe he will cost as much as a discounted Jo, but he's got quite a bit in his locker too.

Jo while seemingly happy, looks lightweight and not up for a fight. Santa Cruz looks more dependable, while skillful enough to bag a few goals. The three main questions would be if he considers us "big and ambitious enough", if we can afford him, and if he can fit into our cohesive/play for each other culture.

Terence, what a ridiculous post. Anyone whos know anything about Everton Football Club knows we need a playmaker in the middle to cover for Arteta and or a pacy winger who can provide quality form the flanks.

The back four is rock solid and we have options in attack with Anichebe as well who you failed to mention the idea if spending £19M on Santa Cruz is a joke.

While I have been impressed with Jo?s home performances, he just hasn?t quite cut it for me away from home and when the pressure is on... Saying that he is still quite young and worth a punt at £10 million or under...

I don?t think Man City will let him go for that anyway, so it?s probably not even worth considering him for next season?s plans.

Liverpool are apparently looking at Santa Cruz.

For me, I would really like to see Moyes move for Fernando Llorente at Athletic Bilbao. He is only 24, 6ft 5in and is a decent striker. His recored before this season is about 1 goal in 4. This year it is up to 1 goal in 2... Anytime I have seen him I have been quite impressed and I would imagine he wouldn?t be too expensive. I reckon he has a very bright career ahead of him.

Damian. You say Liverpool are looking at Santa Cruz....no problem as he probably wants to play for a team that stands a chance of winning something....... *LOL*

Come on Guy. How is it a ridiculous post from Terence when we’ve gone most of the season struggling for striking options? Vaughan is still developing and we’ve no idea what the Yak will be like when he returns. Anichebe for me is a squad player at best (just my opinion) and I have doubts about Saha’s durability and long term worth for Everton.

I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with your opinion about where we need to strengthen, but to call Terence’s post "ridiculous" is harsh. It’s his opinion only and no more ridiculous than yours.

Kieran, Howard was not ineligible for that game, as the transfer had already been concluded during his loan period.

The FA clarified that Howard was eligible, and it was the infamous "gentleman’s agreement" between the two clubs that saw Turner take between the sticks.

At 2-0 up we didn’t care, but Turner was wholly responsible for the fumble for United’s first goal from O’Shea, and their tails were up after that...

Fortunately the FA saw sense and introduced the new ruling.
