Lets not stand still....

Firstly well done the boys but I am blaming you all for one of the worst hangovers of my life, I am still not feeling well. David Moyes and Bill Kenwright deserve a lot of credit for what we have done this season and we should all be prepared to give credit when it is due, hopefully the moaners and knockers will have the decency to do the same.

At the start of the season, I posted on this site that due to the lack of signings I would be watching women's vollyball this year and although it is very exciting it just doesn't last long (or I don't!). So I have been to as many games as work has allowed (Blues games that is) and was in tears on Sunday looking at the faces of my son and daughter when Jag's pen went in... and then got really pissed.

What a day for the Blue! I am sure we can do Chelsea in the final. Next season, we will have players back from injury and hopefully we can get the investment we need whether it be (and I hope it is) from BK or outside investors. I don't think we will need that much, we are not asking to spend as much, or need to spend as much, as the likes of Man City but we do need at least 2 players who can go straight in the first team and maybe a couple of squad players.

This is not a moan; I am praying we can move on this season and not just stand still. So please BK get DM a decent budget for next season and lets take the next step. That top 4 finish isn't that far away.

Peter, did I glimpse a credit to Bill Kenwright in your post? Without in any way belittling the input of David Moyes and his playing staff, is it really too difficult publicly to recognise that, under BK's stewardship, our club has made giant onfield strides? The silence by Bill?s critics serves only to be the measure of them.

I watched ITV highlights yesterday and heard the commenator call Bill a "proper chairman of a proper club".

Spot on!

He might not have as much money as we would like but he has given us everything he has and should be commended for that instead of selling out to some consortium who only have their own interests at heart.

The progress of this club is down to Moyes and the players, who pulled their plums off for this club in some games, Kenwright has just sat back on his fat arse doing nothing. The only thing he has managed to do well is to split the Everton fanbase over the Kirkby move.

I don?t particularly like Moyes's way of going about things, but he has done well with what he has, and I will give credit to him; but to mention Kenwright in the same breath as Moyes is simply ludicrous. He has not done anything for this club, certainly not moneywise, since he has been associated with it ? since his Johnson days.

Yet more sycophantic drivel from Peter Corcoran. Please tell me Peter, who was our chairman when the Kings Dock Arena fell through with a shambolic heartbreaking mess left behind? Lies, Lies and more Lies at the same time.

Left in such dire consequences that the same chairman now sees fit to drag the club to the backwaters of Kirkby because he cannot run EFC properly.

Kenwright cannot even find sufficient funds to allow his manager to build his squad up to a level which he wants yet time and time again it's just "wait and see what happens..."

Who was the chairman at this club who employed a fat waster called Wyness then allowed the man to strip our assets to the bone before fucking off with a massive bonus?

Kenwright is little more than a chancer who has got lucky and been left alone by the fans because Moyes has saved his skin most seasons. Peter, you have the gall to have a go at me over my Osman comments yet come on here with utter stomach churning garbage when refering to BK....

Teddy Draper, isn't Tony just expressing his opinion as well? Just because he uses words that he thinks fit to describe someone you don't agree with, you revert to this namby pamby PC rubbish which all do-gooders revert to.

Let a man say what he thinks... ???

Kenwright has made mistakes? but throughout all of the criticism nobody can deny the man?s a Blue. The jury is still out of course after last summer and the Kirkby debate (amongst other things) but I for one am tired of hating.

I was proud to see his reaction to our success at Wembley. These days don?t come around too often so I will not hesitate to say thank you to Kenwright for making the wise choice in bringing in David Moyes, standing by him through hard times, and giving him the freedom to express his talents.

I hope he finds the money to help us progress to the next level.

I was disappointed ? but not in the slightest bit surprised ? by some of the comments made by BK in the aftermath of Sunday?s game.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/e/everton/8009324.stm

Never one to miss an opportunity to make press statements when things are going well, BK throws out the superlatives in reference to Moyes ? but still manages to somehow involve himself in the process.

There is an element of the "look-at-me" to BK that I do not appreciate ? especially for someone who spends so much of the time ducking under the radar when things are not going so well.

I do not begrudge someone the right to celebrate their own part in a success ? especially when that success is connected to EFC. I just wish that BK was a bit more forthcoming with his involvement in the things that do not go so well.

I think that this summer?s transfer window will reveal just how far BK?s statement "I?d do anything for him (DM)" is true ? or alternatively how accurate the "Billy Bullshit" moniker actually is.

As a good Catholic lad, it pains me to say it but, long live king Bill.

Everton Football Club would be languishing in the lower divisions - at best - if it were not for Bill.

If someone wants to tip some moolie into the club, thats great but let Billy-Boy run it.

Good on yer Bill

Pete, even if we win the cup don’t be surprised if it’s another "1 step forwards, 2 steps back" scenario. Just like when we finshed 4th and to a lesser extent at the start of this season. Unless Billy finds some decent cash somewhere, preferably before next season starts, we’ll find ourselves in the same situation again. What doesn’t help either will be if the likes of Spurs, Villa and Man City go out and spend big. It’s not even as if we need a huge sum, we may need only 2-3 good players. Kenwright may well bask in the glory of the current success, but ironically the better Moyes and the team performs, the more financially supportive he has to be because if he isn’t he might risk Moyes moving on somewhere else.

Well...as our erstwhile editor won?t allow us to abuse each other I?d just like to say that with all things Everton the glass is currently half full (the other half is full of wits!)...

We?ve a good team but not a great team, a good manager but not a great one, a good chairman but not a great one, a good stadium but not a great one... and I for one am currently happy with that situation because its all been good enough to get us to a final.

Do I aspire to greatness for our club and its custodians? Too right I do but I?m prepared to wait... just look at our history and the gaps in years between our truly great teams. It's the everton way.....

Haven?t been on this site for ages due to the rubbish the anti DK come out with and the lack of respect they have for another slant on EFC stadium. I understand and respect why they want to stay in the city borders its common sense but this whole problem has been taken out of proportion by the No and it?s backfired.

KEIOC doesn?t represent the fans and never has, even the name is stupid as most fans would take Kirkby over Speke so they should be called KEINL (keep Everton in north Liverpool) but I suppose that would make them small minded and blinkered?

I voted yes to DK but I don?t mind where we move as long as it helps the club move on, the simple and sad fact about this whole issue is we don?t have the finance to go alone so we have to take what handouts are available and that the problem for all fans no matter which side of the debate you prefer so the future in not in our hands, until we solve that conundrum then we can both argue as much as we like because it doesn?t make a difference. Leave BK alone, EFC

I’ve got no opinion on Bill Kenwright one way or the other but he hasn’t got the money to take us up to the level of the teams above us and the move to Kirkby will be an absolute disaster for Everton. I’m sure he does what he thinks is best for the club but the fa cup would hopefully increase our profile amongst potential buyers. Then maybe we could put this Kirkby nonsense to rest and see a new investor unite the fans and rebuild Goodison. P.S. The people saying it can’t be done all have their own Kirkby agenda. SAY NO TO KIRKBY.

Dick Fearon, BK’s critics are never silent but those like you who think he’s wonderful are the ones that need to be silent or you’ll get the full litany of his failures repeated again and again until it sinks in what a waster he is.

It's a shame this turned into the old ?slag each other off for disagreeing? thread as it had the potential to be the old ?FM-style player wish-list? thread, which are much more fun and exciting.

Back to the original post, I agree that we need two first XI players, a DM and a winger. I?ve said many times I think Manuel Fernandes would be perfect for that role, having watched him do it for Valencia I?m more convinced than ever. He does have a broken leg at the moment though, although he did play 75 mins on it before he realised so it can?t be that bad. There are a few wingers around but I think Chelsea reject Scott Sinclair could be our man, like Lescott, Cahill, Jagielka and Baines he?s a talented young Englishman who?s had success in The Championship and also experienced The Premiership. These two would effectively just be replacements for Castillo and Van Der Meyde, and would enable Neville to play right back and Osman to be an impact sub/ squad player.

Beyond this I agree about the squad players, we need a replacement for Nuno Valente who can give Baines a break when required (assuming we progress in the ?Europa League?) and maybe another squad player in midfield, preferably a left footed wide left player to give the option.

What we absolutely must NOT do, as Peter points out, is dilly-dally, wait all summer, and only buy one player capable of improving our team.

Erik M, unlike many on the site I do not form opinions based on conjecture or claim to be privy of boardroom shenanigans, nor do I have extra sensory perception and cannot read BK's mind. I have never met BK or know anyone who does therefore my appreciation of him is based soley on indisputable facts.

What those facts clearly demonstrate is that there has been a remarkable improvement in the clubs position since Bill took over, because he publicly stated everybody knows he does not have the money needed to take the club further. Ranting and raving by Tony Maersh, yourself or anyone else cannot dispute the progress we have made.

David Moyes deservedly gets most praise yet he is foremost in praise of Bill.
