Once a Blue, Always A Blue

On Sunday, after hanging around outside for a LONG time celebrating like a mad man with anyone and everyone I could see, a little kid in an Everton shirt being carried by his dad excitedly talking about going to the FA Cup final, to see his team play, must've been happening a lot so didn't think much of it until I realised the dad was none other than Andy Johnson!
I had a quick chat with him and he couldn't of used the word WE when talking about Everton any more if he'd tried! And there was his son despite moving down to London and knowing his dad plays for Fulham, decked out in full Everton strip. As a great man once said, "Once Everton has touched you nothing will ever be the same again!" Once a Blue, Always A blue!

I wasn’t close enough to tell for definite, but I thought it might have been Danny Cadamarteri.
Can anyone confirm that???
That?s quality about AJ?s son ? he came into my shop once with his mum to buy football stickers. He was decked out in the full strip then aswell with ?Daddy? on the back. He?s a really young lad so it?s great he?s still with us.
Anyway, brought a smile to my face!
What he did tell me was that he has no desire to play for Pompey and that whilst Harry bought him he thought he was a "tosser!"
More interestingly was that he confirmed prior to him being sold to Pompey Everton did make a bid for him whilst he was at Preston. It was in the January transfer window. The Preston manager at the time chose not to tell him about the bid and when he did ultimately find out he went mad! In effect he said he would crawl over broken glass to play for us.
Great pub by the way. Packed out and not a Manc in sight.
Also Danny Cadamateri walked past were we were parked and yeah, he knew he was been noticed.
It did bring a smile to my face when someone started singing "You’re Still Engalnd’s Number 1 to Nigel!"
But only with Sturmbahnfuhrer Morrissey’s explicit permission, I think.
My Dad was made up, grabbed King and hugged him before posing for a photo. Put a smile on all our faces.
We all had a bit of banter, I informed him that he cost me £15 for 'Cadamarteri 29' on my shirt but said it was worth it and told him he must be feeling old coz when he scored THAT goal, I was only 12!
Sound bloke tho had a chat at half time, and then with big Nige at full time. All the way through if one of them moved they got their name chanted, the usual "who needs cantona when we got Barry Horne, Barry HOOOOOOORNE" rang out a few times, "You?re still England's number one" to big Nige and "who put the ball in the red shite net, Danny Cadamarteri!"
All were great all the way through having pics taken and signing autographs, having banter... Made me realise if i ever needed reminding that Everton truely is one big family. WHAT A DAY, Bring on the end of May, COYB!
Now I’ll believe anything.
COYB!!!
I posted before who I saw but it doesn’t seem to have made it here.
I was in 551 too and saw Andy King (loud!), Wayne Clarke (trim and fit) and Martin Dobson (too), all in smart suits decked in scarves and drinking (quite reasonably priced!) pints. Saw Duncan McKenzie outside shaking hands with everyone amid shouts of ’White Pele!’.
At half time I had a long conversation with Alan Whittle who shared his memories of playing at the old Wembley. When I left to go back to my seat for second half he shook my hand and said ’Take care son’!
Magic!!
