Red on the shirt

Comments (22)

What a great day on Sunday... One small point (that in no way takes anything from it, just an observation).

I'm old enough to remember the shirt fiasco when One 2 One became sponsors and the furore over the red part of their logo appearing on the blue shirt. I was enjoying pointing out to my wife watching the game that the Everton end was a sea of blue, and you would not see a square inch of red anywhere if you looked. So I was a bit surprised when I saw the RED e-on FA Cup badges on the lads sleeves (see this picture for an example http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/gallery/2009/apr/19/fa-cup-everton?picture=346161998).

Did anyone else notice/care?!

I did notice Tim, and I also noticed that when Lescott received an accidental blow to the face from a flailing elbow during a match recently, the blood that spouted from his nose was RED! I was horrified... How did this happen, did that not show up on the medical!

LOL. Didn’t think was a conspiracy I’m really not that paranoid. Just surprised no fuss given what has happened before. If they go on and win it would become one of our favourite shirts too :)

And the Liverpool fans are irate that there is BLUE in the Premier League and Champions League badges they wear on their shirt sleeves. The world is being turned upside down.

I remember Neville Southall wearing a red 'keeper's shirt at Goodison and being roundly booed! Selective memory recalls that he went off and changed it but I may be wrong? Didn't he also wear one at Rotterdam?

Tim, did you worry about the RED faces on the United bench, after Berbitov?s penalty howler, and at the final whistle.

What about the saying ’Red sky at night shepard’s delight" unless of course that Shepard is an over sensitive fan like Tim. You’d think he’d just be happy to be in the final??

LOL. I’m not over sensitive - I couldn’t give a stuff frankly! I’m over the moon we’re in the final. I just thought some other people might be - given what has happened before was all. Obviously not!

Don’t know about Southall but Westy certainly wore a red shirt on one occasion ... after booing and a number of pointed comments from Street End patrons, he changed it at half time. Guess it must have been a bet with the other boys ... ?

Mike, I may be mixing them up then ? I certainly saw Gordon West play several games for us and am not 100% it was Nev but I am now wondering whether it was Dai Davies even.

Steve, that saying was altered a few years ago due to the foot and mouth epidemic. Its now ?red sky at night, cattles alight?

PS: I’ve just looked at the photo again, and you know if you look at the crowd in the background it really is sea of blue! One pink shirt, a couple of luminous yellow and white, but otherwise completely blue.

Red is such a shitty colour.
What colour do you go when you’re angry? RED
What colour is your blood if you cut yourself? RED
(Blue if it stays inside)
What colour is the traffic light that stops you? RED
What colour do you go if you get sunburnt? RED
What colour do Man Ure play in? RED
What colour do the shite play in? RED
I’m sure there are more examples but I rest my case m’lud.
Bitter blue?

It was always going to be 0-0. Why, because Everton have that mode of defiance. It is this mode of attitude that will scare Chelsea on the day of the final.

For anyone who has a doubt about Moyes then track back a few years. All the bad mistakes the bad timming of subs and the bad players in the wrong positions at the wrong time.

WOW WHAT A LOT OF THINGS TO GET WRONG. So what does everyone think of tonight's tactics? For me they were biblical and if not at least they worked.

Chelsea we were in second gear tonight be afraid, very afraid we are coming for you in May.

We should have scored four goals at least tonight, I think it's done us no harm playing them tonight. That was their best team, we will be stronger at Wembley, bar any injuries we might pick up, if Chelski beat Barca in the semi-final, they will play the final three days before the cup final.

If it’s any consolation, the FA Cup will have blue ribbons on it, regardless of the result.
