Everton's bid for Neven Subotic

Comments (19)

I was reading Sports Bild (German sports daily) yesterday and came across an article about Neven Subotic. I found this quote interesting:

"Along with Hamburg's Joris Mathijsen, Subotic holds the record for playing the most long passes in the Bundesliga season, only 34% of which found his team mates. Distribution is his biggest weakness"

Since the article went on to say that Everton's bid was rejected by Dortmund and Subotic pledged his future to them for at least one more year, what price Moyes putting a bid in for Mathijsen at some point this summer?

I’d say there’s a 34% chance.

Long passes? Sounds like a hoofer to me. However, I bet 34% is at least twice as good as Jags or Yobo?s stats for ?long passes?!

So we hear every rumour about Moutinho, M'bia etc etc and we choose not to believe.

Than we here of a bid for a nobody a few months ago, and we take it as gospel?

Is that what?s going on here? Believing things so you can have a go?

I dunno about ^^ you two but my £12 was in answer to the OP’s question "what price Moyes putting a bid in for Mathijsen at some point this summer?"

I just felt that it was a ridiculous rumour mongering question that deserved an equally ridiculous answer!!

I know Jags and Yobo might like to use the hoofball but to be honest we lack movement in front of them and also a centre midfield player who actually comes short to them to receive the ball, so a lot of the time they have no option.

Probiotic would be a better signing - good and friendly and would blend in well with the team spirit.

Subotic isn’t a nobody, Simon. He’s an enormously gifted young American defender who played for the US U-20s but then decided to play for Serbia at the senior level because the US coaches pissed him off. He now starts in the center for Serbia, right next to Vidic, and scored this week against the Faeroes. And Serbia’s at the top of Group 7.

Yes, he’s a lousy passer, but he’s an outstanding defender and scores goals consistently. And he’s only 21. We could do a whole lot worse.

Another article about hoofball, dressed up as something else. Whilst we may employ this tactic on occasion these days, I?d like to know how the author thinks we should play against technically better players when we come up against them. And why the fuck he is reading a German paper? Boring...
